Steve, I want to express my gratitude for the guidence, information, and confidence your videos have given me. I studied all your videos that relate to riello burners, hot water, and furnace problems and I'll be darned that I was able to get my system running like new!! I never would have taken on the task of servicing my own furnace and burner without your help. Many coments I read seem to be from people very familiar with your profession, but as a novice, just know you are reaching people like me who benifit from you as a resource. Thank you!

Hi Steven; As always i learn something new each time i watch your videos! I have a Riello burner on my forced hot air system. I usually service it myself; not in the business, but went to a Beckett Training program years ago. Anyway this winter the wife was complaining about petroleum odors when the heat was coming on, so i changed the nozzle and filters etc and noticed a small amount of oil inside the burner housing, so i cleaned it all and it was back in business. A few weeks later she is complaining again and I see oil on the floor near the furnace so i open things up and put the floodlites on the unit and see oil in the same spot as before. I clean and look for leaks but can't see any fittings leaking etc. but there is also oil in bottom of the furnace where the blower is located. What i learned was that the Riello Burner has an adjustable Hydraulic Jack that controls the air shutter that actuates when the burner fires. The Hydraulic Jack has a vent hole at the bottom and that was where the leak was located. I replaced the part and now my wife turns the heat on HIGH again when I'm not home! I plan to order a REMOTE to correct that situation!

Hi Steven!, I know this is an old one but Thanks So Much for sharing these with us all here and Its wonderful to your new bud and helper too!.. It about to get way cold here again! I have a similar issue with a newish EZ 66 on a Burnham MPO IQ. but has been rumbling, the RC draft shakes, trip the CO alarm and leaks red oil below the access door and down to the floor.. Mostly during the cold spells. I called the carlin controls tech line yesterday regarding it as our unit need this same maintenance every 4-5 months very dif. than our old V15.. I do know this is not always the answer to all the carbon on flame arrestor. But he said to confirm the set up on it and guided me to page 10 of their online manual. Basically the head band needs to set all the way back and the it screws with the air flow. Even if it is 1/16th off! Then to confirm the remaining plate position numbers I read our is between 2-3 on the attached adjustment scale and stick in the correct nozzle. I am sure I will be calling for help again soon just hope it not -8 degreesF here in the middle of the night again here. No need to reply but greateful to see you two in action, Stay Warm!

14:10 There is a "2 LINE KIT" available for the BF 3 and 5 to bring the return up next to the inlet port instead of notching the aluminum cover of the BF. My Biasi B10 came with it.

Steve, I was wondering why nozzles can’t be cleaned instead of replaced? I don’t want to ask a dumb question, but we do not have oil furnaces or oil boilers in the south.
@andrewconnellc16 жыл бұрын
I'm no steve but inside the nozzle there are really fine slots that help atomize the oil and by taking them apart even the smallest of deposits of gunk can clog them making the nozzle not fire at the rate that it should even if It did work you wouldnt know for how long nozzles are cheap enough to just swap so you'll have less of a chance for a call back

Plus any minute abrasives that may be in the oil will cause wear on the orifice and can throw off the flame pattern and cause poor combustion and excess fuel use.

Hi Steve. Why does the burner head got carbon, and what is the function of the head ? Thx
@rtoweprojects5 жыл бұрын
That carbon build up comes from the nozzle assembly not set right, low oil pressure or not enough draft.
@denisohbrien6 жыл бұрын
that riello looks weird compared to what I usually see here (UK) almost all RDB / R40 and they come apart from the flame tube side of the burner, guess that model fits with the furnaces designed for your beckett style burners.

I have a similar Riello but there's no Tigerloop on mine. Whats's that for anyway (the Tigerloop)?
@rickymiller58036 жыл бұрын
When you use 2 line system and pulling from top oil line tiger loop deals with air in oil line
@ourkid20006 жыл бұрын
@@rickymiller5803 thanks. I guess mine is really basic. One line coming from bottom of tank straight to a filter and then the burner. No need for one?
@andrewconnellc16 жыл бұрын
@@ourkid2000 nope with overhead lines riellos struggle sometimes to pull the oil up and out with an oil line on the ground it takes less vacuum to pull the oil gravity does the work when the line is on the ground the oil can just flow to the burner because of the weight of the oil in the tank still need to make sure no air is present but in a nut shell the way your system is set up is more reliable

They are very nice Burners, just went to one of there classes in my area ( Most of my area uses Becket) and liked how streamline they made the cleaning process. Very accessible when needed for changing out parts. We would install them but still to many Beckets in the area to change over, becket parts are easier to get. Most of the supply houses have them in stock.
