I bough one some weeks ago, because: I must put it inside a 4 person lift; i don't want more bikes robbed from my garage; I must have some care with my knees. However i will keep my normal non electified foldable Dahon Speed TR from 2009. The Tinker feels much more like a normal trecking bike, even with fat 20" wheels, and is well prepared to carry weigth ( grosseries or camping gear). Very well finished and qquiped, and ...no chain to lube, keeping trousers and camping tent inside clean.

Glad to see the off road ‘version’! I’ve changed mine too - GT tyres, 16.5% reduced gearing, bar ends, and a second 500wh battery.

I bought the ADO Air 20 recently for the wife, ( similar to this )with a carbon drive belt and battery in the seat tube. Fitted the metal mudguards and rack and the optional throttle, as well as changing the bike to hybrid mode and increasing the max speed. It now pedals at the 15.5 mph but goes up to 22 mph with the throttle. Very good for where you can legally use the throttle but you can go back into the engineering section to return it to pedal assist only, from the CE approved 250 watt motor, where you can't. Extremely happy with it, it looks very good and is very robust and sturdy to ride as well. It is also less than 1/3 rd of this bike in price. I would go for the ADO every time looking at this. As far as my personal commuter bike, I have a Brompton, the best commuter bike in the world and the smallest folding by far.

Thanks for the comment. The bike you mention does have a belt drive, but this is where the similarities end. They are two very different bikes for different markets and applications. I noticed that along with lower specification components the the battery is 2/3 the size at 345Wh and the motor only produces 37Nm compared to 75Nm on the Bosch powered Tinker. However, the price is significantly less. If your purchasing decision is about more than price, I would definately be recommending the Tinker.

@@EDEMOElectricBikes Despite the "compact" factor, the Tinker is useless where I live. My city is totally carfree but, the non foldable aspect makes it a deal braker. So yeah, an ADO S with a 350 watt hub with 42 Nm is a faaar better option ( 6kg is a big difference if you want to carry it around, let alone the fold factor). Btw you can get the new ADO Carbon and still it's half the price of the tinker, half the weight as well. As for the non foldable compact I went for a Tern. A HSD isn't that much bigger but it has a serious cargo load. Nearly same weight, same engine....80 kg load. A no brainer for me.

The real question is where is Alba? 🐶 Very tempting. Especially if I want to take it on the tube.

get a Bromton, folds much smaller and lighter by far.

Would the TFL officers let you use it on the tube do you think? I like the Tinker very much for going into London and having the flexibility but also for travel between London and Leeds. I am interested in Dan's comment that he never struggles on the Bristol run to fit it in anywhere. I had thought I'd need to book a bike space with LNER (which are free anyway) but like the idea it might fit in other spaces even though it's not folding.

Could you tell me if this bike has a throttle? It seems pretty interesting to me.
@EDEMOElectricBikes4 ай бұрын
It doesn't have a throttle as this would make it illegal in the UK unless taxed and registered... and that's no fun!
@lewis23604 ай бұрын
@@EDEMOElectricBikes Incorrect guys - you could fit a throttle and get each individual ebike type approved to L1e-A by DVSA.

Hi Dan, Will my 500 battery off my tinker fit the new tinker two ?
@EDEMOElectricBikes5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not. Bosch System 2 (older format) and Bosch Smart System (newer format) batteries are not cross-compatible due to the charging socket being different.
