I run a x300 ultra on my tavor x95. It’s compact and lightweight, just what a heavy bullpup needs! Cheers!

don't sweat it about the light! I do the same w/ one of my rifles. I put an Olight PL at the end of it....works just fine!

You mean, those are the rifles you want us to know about. Never keep all your eggs in one basket. Nice setups. If you want to upgrade from a pistol light on your rifle, Streamlight makes good lights without having to pay the Surefire/Modlite tax.

X300 at 12 o’clock is great IMO. One can easily actuate white light from either side and go to momentary without adding a pressure switch, wires, etc. it’s a nice setup.

There are plenty of decent starter AR-15 rifles available for under $1000. I personally own a ZroDelta Ready Series Base Rifle and I really enjoy shooting it. Good luck on your journey into the rifle world!

Set aside around $1500, and get an Aero lower, and BCM upper . B5 makes the most comfortable stocks and grips IMO, and spend the rest on a used Eotech or a Trijicon MRO, and you should have enough left over for a decent streamlight torch.
@TeeRollss

The great thing about an AR15 is you can build it up later to whatever you want it to be. Be careful with the AR10's because there is no set pattern and you can run into proprietary issue problems similar to 1911's (although not as bad).

One thing I noticed when I put a cheap LPVO on my rifle was not so much the weight, but the location of the weight, as it made my rifle feel topheavy. Not a real issue with practice and training, but still noticeable, even though I'm a fairly large man in pretty good shape.

I don't think "colorway" has ever been a word I've heard used in conjunction with a AR build. That being said, I like green as well. I have a Noveske rifle in "Bazooka Green" cerakote that I really like. My other rifle is cerakoted in "Smoke Grey" so basically I have no "evil black" rifles. 🙂

My favorite AR is my Franken rifle. It started as a $60 lower and a complete upper kit. Since 2016 I've replaced every part of it except the upper receiver and the bcg. Most recently swapped the mil-spec trigger for a Triggertech Duty.

I don't care what anybody says. X300U at 12-O'clock on the handguard with a red dot is AWESOME, especially if you put irons on your rifle for backup. You can flip up your irons, and it will go right into the slot where the trigger guard on your pistol would be. It keeps things FULLY ambi, and the light is balanced in that spot. Screw the haters. That's not a bad move.

I really like the 12 o'clock mounted light, but ended up moving mine to a cantilevered 10 o'clock position, even though it puts the weight further forward because that way the light is a barrier between my leg and the hot can if I go hands free after shooting. I really don't want to burn myself
@3of11
@3of11 Ай бұрын
I also don’t like brick heavy LVPOs. Still rocking a 1-4 tr -24r accupoint because it’s 18oz with aero mount, the 1x is 90% as good as a red dot, and no batteries needed. Offer not good if you need to regularly go past 300m (no holdovers) but you can dial the thing if you really need too. It tracks well. The matches and use case for mine mean I basically never stretch it past 300 and most is 100 and in. If that is your use case I’d recommend you give it a try. It’s old tech and can be found cheap used.

I know exactly what I want for an AR. The grip needs the extra strap above web of hand, the adjustable stock that locks so it doesn't wiggle, so probably Magpul for both of those. A quad rail hand guard, stainless 16" barrel (shorter when NFA gets repealed like it should). If I go with a red dot, it'd have to be one that works without batteries, otherwise, iron sights. Basic ass vertical grip.

Couple of comments. X300 on the front of the gun, hey unless it's outdoors and long range it'll do as well as any other expensive light so don't pay those people any attention. Regarding the LVPO I can be pretty bougie, but in my case I'm running a Primary Arms scope because when you max out at 6X it's plenty enough for anything up to 200 yds (for me) and if you are getting beyond that it's not really what a LVPO is for so you are throwing away a strength and inheriting a weakness.

The Razor Gen IIe 1-6 should be lighter (as is the Gen III 1-10) than the original Gen II 1-6. That mount looks like a porker too, the Warne X-Skell is pretty svelt while still being durable. I am not sure what rail that is on your husband’s current build either but it looks super heavy. You can pick out a handful of parts that make small weight differences and make an overall build that is much more wieldy than a similar build where weight wasn’t considered. You won’t have to sacrifice reliability either.

If one is going to own a 5.56mm AR for defensive use because it is suited to militia use an M4 clone like those from DSA or FN seems appropriate as most soldiers and police use such rifles. That said, a 5.56mm rifle is too much gun for home defense use IMO so I'd prefer a smaller and lighter 9mm AR like the CMMG Banshee Mk9 SBR 8" (or the pistol variant with an arm brace) which uses Colt type mags.
