I own a Mk 7 haversack, mine has the strap with the hooks, but my pack is dated 1943 or 1948, very hard to read. Also the center divider in the main compartment has been removed. I use it quite often with going out and about. Well built bag.

I'd suggest the hooked strap has been transplanted from a Mk. VI. It'll be 1943 rather than 1948.

Okay, no visible date on the shoulder strap, but I did find it marked V1A. Was that normal to reuse the shoulder strap?

I can only refer to it as whipcord I'm afraid and I don't know of a modern source unfortunately.

I know the whipcord was held in place by the small cord loop that was sown into the hem of the bag just above the pouch, but I can't find out what the purpose of the hole is for...

Now anything about a 1942 British Royal Forces gas mask? I looked it up and barely found much info, apparently its very rare.

What you're asking is rather muddled. What do you mean by 'British Royal Forces'?

@@RiflemanMoore My bad, i think i meant British Royal Air Forces i'm not to sure though. All i really know about this mask is that it was made in 1942 (by the way its nothing like the mask you have in this video).

Ok. The Royal Air Force used standard issue respirators as far as I'm aware. The one in the video is a specific type for telephonists and radio operators however. Might I suggest you drop me a photo on the FB page and I can take a look and advise.

They would generally carry similar contents as far as I'm aware. The eyeshields I'm not sure on.

i recently ordered the same gas mask but it is diteriotating and is missing the brown thing over the rubber. can you tell where to get this brown cover if possible

+Assassin of Power The Mk. V was made without the brown stockinette covering, yours is most likely one of these.

+Assassin of Power No and your mask is not supposed to have the cover, it will have been bare rubber originally.
