This is what I was thinking - if there is some data suggesting 50% of "X" people occupy social housing in the UK, I can guarantee it'll be all people who are not White British specifically. Although I'm googling things and official statistics seems to suggest that this isn't the case, I think it might just be completely made up. 😭 Absolutely agree that a lot of the people in this crowd are ethno-nationalists.

I remember watching Mic Wright utterly devastae Goodwin in a debate on PoliticsJOE - not that Goodwin didn't do exactly what he's accused of here and just lie whenver things weren't going his way. The economic and cultural landscape in Britain, specially big cities like London and Birmingham has changed immeasurably since I began way back in 1985. Of the people who are tenants of social housing and were not born in the UK, how many are over retirement age (often well over) and have spent all or most of their working lives here, often on low wages and being abused by rapacious private landlords until they eventually got a council tenancy? I don't know, but I am a council tenant on a London estate, and am familiar with many other council estates and I think the proportion is bound to be be high. The population of social housing has a huge imbalance towards the old (like me) because not enough has been built for many decades. How many council estates, and how many social housing tenants is Matthew Goodwin familiar with? Where does he think many of the Windrush Generation still with us live? Questions he needs to be asked are not only about the source of his data, about the distinction between people not born here and "not British" (which are very different) but can he give us an age breakdown of the social housing tenants who were not born in the UK. Headline figures are just grist to propaganda mills. All the data frequently tells a very different story.

It was actually about double that because 650000 is the net figure. Immigration, including numbers of boats, rocketed since Brexit. These Brexiteers are responsible for what they hate. The Tory government were entirely in favour of immigration because they realised they had to keep the economy functioning. At the same time, they gave the impression, through their client media, that they wanted to reduce immigration, in order to make people angry.
