I think the success is probably because her label had her striking when the iron was hot; for a while, she put out music every 1-2 years, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was pressured at one point to keep churning out music eithout a lot of break time.

Rihanna was in a predatory contract (6 albums) and probably was discouraged from making music as she didn’t know, due to being a child, the show biz is not the glitz and the glam you see on tv. On top of that she wasn’t seeing any returns in music as her first three albums really dug her into a whole. I think that’s why we got 7 albums in 7 years. To pay the bills you have to go on tour, to go on tour you have to make albums. She filed for bankruptcy I’m sure she never wants to be in that position again

Yeah she was a good singer with a marketable vibe so she did well but I don’t think she identified heavily as an artist, song writing or producer like billie eilish, Kendrick Lamar or Tyler the creator etc. She slayed at singing, got famous and then moved on to her other projects that she’s obviously more passionate about, and there’s nothing wrong with that! No one sticks at the same job they did at 16, it’s just such a shame because her music bangs but I wish her the best 😭😂

@@blameitoncapitalism Someones voice is an instrument, anyone can sing on a song but not everyone can sing the song as good as another. A song like work sounds goofy if anyone else does it but when it’s rihanna it sounds great. Try to copy britney’s singing voice you don’t sound good but SHE does. Point is your voice is what ties the song together, songs get written with people in mind for a reason.

I heard something as a kid somewhere, and it has stuck with me ever since: She once said that she wanted to be the "black Madonna." Her passion for music was definitely there. The way she enjoyed performing during the GGGB tour and her passion during Rated R was REAL. At some point, she had verve and passion for music, or at least for being successful as a pop star. However, the breaking point came during the Loud era... the death of her grandmother. She stated several times that she was one of her biggest stans and that she heavily relied on her for support during tough times. It's not coincidence that after an era so big and perfectly planned as Loud, came Talk that Talk, her first "disappointing" era. Her aesthetic and passion during performances drastically changed, it marked the time where Riri lost tons of weight and started smoking pot as crazy, and when she performed terribly. Also, let's remember that she "only" recorded three videos for this era and despite releasing Talk that Talk as an official single, she never dropped a video for it. (which sounds like a normal thing to do now, but back in 2012, this was unheard of for successful eras) To me, that's where she started losing passion for the idea of making music and she wanted to find another business, that's the breaking point for Riri. Again, no coincidence that it was around this time that she started being recognized as a fashion icon.

@@joshuaortiz4886 You're very welcome! I've been a huge fan of hers since 2008 and all the old Navies agree on the fact that she lost her passion during Talk that Talk. Like she went from full popstar type of performances with scenography and choreo during Loud to, pretty much, get on the stage super high and semi drunk for the Talk that Talk era. At first, the discussion centered around if she actually loved pop or preferred urban and R&B music, but that discussion quickly transtioned into if she still loved music, that's all we talked about after Unapologetic. There was even an inside joke about Riri being a supermodel that sometimes sung, but then she released ANTi. She was my favourite artist, ever. She was my Michael Jackson, my David Bowie, my Elvis. And I’m just so sad that she’s chosen to abandon me. That’s what it feels like. She disappeared in my early teens and has never come back since. I’m 21 now - about to turn 22 - and she’s been absent for nearly as long as she had been present to me. She was my entire world. I loved her music so much. I just find it so sad. She was never with me in my teens and into me being an adult - and there’s something about that that i’ll never get over and not mourn and forget.

He's 59 & dealing with lots of mental health challenges, possible CTE & a TBI that put him in a coma for 8 days. Unfortunately, I had to get a TPO since he's 6'6, over 300 pounds, and showing violent behavior, constantly talking about harming others. He's aggressive. To anyone reading this, if you're familiar with BPD, is it common to have an obsession with violence?

I made a video some time ago on my TikTok about this too. She is 100% done and she is a prime example of what it means to have a 'graceful exit'; she left at her peak and with no warning. I don't think she intended for her break to turn into no longer doing music, and neither did we expect her to as listeners. Because of this, her fans and the general public will always be left wanting more. I've personally accepted that she's done but I can't help but to notice how greatly felt her absence is. We haven't had a pop star like her since, you truly had to be there to understand just how much of an omnipresence she had in the culture. She is still everywhere now and very culturally relevant, but it was different during her music era. I am happy for her though and all that she has achieved. She's a huge inspiration!

also JAY-Z abu$ed the f*** out of Riri from age 17 onward. not physically, just through a 360 contract that he literally trapped her in the Def Jam building to sign while still underage. (literally. look it up.) it's incredibly unsurprising that she made one (1) album with full creative control then said "bye yall" and revolutionized the beauty industry (thinking back to my Sephora days and how loyal ALL the brown/black girlies were to Fenty, I could tell she made them feel seen like no other). she's a talent, I miss her dearly, I'm so glad I saw her halftime show live (on TV lol)-because in a way it felt like a perfect farewell. girl literally ended the concert like "surprise yall, A$AP and i got another one comin!" it's clear how happy she is and I'm happy to see that after she put over 10 years into being a CONSISTENT cultural icon. definition of earning your bag & my eternal respect. 💜

Jay Z is in the halftime show's committee. She was probably forced by him to do it, notice how now everyone that performs at the superbowl is black since Shakira? (Nothing wrong with that but it's known that Jay Z wants an all black industry, that's why he added Jlo to the Shakira show and make Eminem bow to them while the others didn't do anything). He probably wanted another big black artist to perform and probably forced her to do a show, just look at her face when she did the Roc A Fella sign at the end, she clearly didn't wanna do it.

Been a massive fan of hers since Pon De Replay dropped in 2005. She was the gift that kept on giving and pumped out so much music at such a rapid pace and provided the soundtrack to our lives. I’m happy for her to have ended on a high note and to leave us wanting more! As a true fan, I never understood why she never outsold the likes of people like Taylor Swift or Beyonce, etc. Truly, the general mass never appreciated her ENOUGH to go and buy her albums. People started missing Ri and taking her for granted when she took her first LONG absence from music before ANTI was released. And when she finally dropped it after 4 yrs, the numbers weren’t there!! Such low first week sales but enough to be #1. Ri will never sell like Taylor does but she most definitely makes the best music out of EVERYONE. When it comes to music, she is a cash cow for OTHER people but with her makeup and brands, she is making the real dough and not a cash cow for others. So I’m happy for her and I hope she’ll drop singles every now and then just for fun!

Listening to songs of hers that you haven't heard in a while feels like the first time. I'll always miss Rihanna being the pop superstar she was but she truly left us with incredible bangers and I could never be upset over that. If I miss her eras I can always just go back. My Late Teen years Into College was filled with Rihanna songs. Even when I ventured to other Artitsts I always had a song from Rihanna Stuck in my head somewhere. I know there was a time when we all wanted a new Rihanna album (2013) and we had to wait it even after Anti came out, I fell like i needed more from her, especially since there was such a shift major from Pop Music in 2016-Present. Now I’m not really expecting any Newer Albums from Rihanna since she has shifted into a New Era of her life. We still have Rihanna and her Legacy songs that will be relevant no matter what year it is and she herself is not gone, just in a different role in her life. I am glad she bowed out on top and not in a purgatory of having to make another Album to regain her Legacy after a Flop Album. On another note, i feel bad for Katy Perry, the Artist who made a Second Album songs got me out of my self-worth depression era, has not been successful with recent music. I love her but I feel she has not self-aware of the Musical shift that has taken place since Witness (Which did not perform as well as Prism) and I feel like she is stuck in Her Glory days but her legacy is scared with her underperforming her other Albums. I not saying her newer songs are bad but it’s not really hitting like it used to, especially with this era of music. I’m glad she has American idol to fall back on but I wish she could do other things like TV shows or movies to reinvent herself. In the end, I love hearing New Music from other Artist from other Artists who became popular around the same Era as Rihanna’s (I.e. Lady Gaga, Nikki Minaj, Kesha, Selena Gomez) but I hate to see their music Under perform and messing up their music legacy. I know Artist like Selena Gomez and Lady Gaga have Acting careers under their belt and have had success with some or all of their acting roles. Nikki is still a recognizable force in the her genre even with these newer Artists while Kesha is still releasing new music in a low key setting. I realize too that sometimes it’s great to just appreciate the music we have from these Artists because you never know how long we will have them around (I.e. Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson) and we will wish we appreciated them for their work.
