I was SO nervous for you to read Graceling! That's still one of my all time favourites, ever since I read it like ten years ago. The other books in the "series" (you're totally right, they're more like interconnected standalones) are also amazing and really make use of the world building potential.

Noooo I was so excited for you to read Caraval 🥺 I’m always so confused why people say it’s about a circus because it’s not at all 😅 but the first few chapters are nothing like the book and series!! It really doesn’t start until they get to the island which you were almost to so I’m sad you missed out 😣 You would have LOVED the romances omg swoon 🤤

Hello ! I'm so confused, I started caraval and stopped at page 15 or something because I thought the sisters were super annoying... But I thought it was about a Circus ?
@Storribook4 жыл бұрын
Only Irene Adler Hey girl! It’s about a famous magician that hosts an annual game on a magical island. The sister is taken by the magician to make this year’s challenge to find her. Scarlett has to find her sister to win and who knows what will happen to her-the magician likes to play games. There’s a TON of mystery and it’s super fun-you never know what will happen on the island because you don’t know what kind of magic to expect. It’s high stakes because her sister has been kidnapped and there’s a lot of people playing, but the game is tricky-everything is magical. If you like mystery, adventure, exciting yet captivating plots, and slow-burn enemies to lovers, you’ll love it!! I will worn you-the second book is the best in the series, it’s so much better! Tella is more interesting than Scarlett and the world is more developed 🥰

@@Storribook ooooh thanks so much for your fantastic answer! I really want to read it, now. I don't know why in France, people kept talking about a circus in Caraval so I was a bit confused x) But, thanks again for your time and your passion ! 💫😍

i am SO relieved you liked graceling because it’s one of my favourites to this day. we’re getting a long awaited sequel in january, i could not be more eager for a reread! i similarly dnfed grave mercy (i made it 100 pages but the writing was not great and it felt a little too 2012 era ya for me), hated caraval (the sequel is better like everyone said but not worth it), and loooooved lock every door (definitely sager’s best but it’s extremeeeeely predictable)

Lock Every Door has been on my TBR for a while because I’ve seen so many people raving about it this year. I love books where the characters are put in a situation where it sounds “too good to be true” because we all know it usually is 😂 I’m planning to read Caravel this month (I’ve borrowed it from the library so I have to return it by 30th September!) I’ve heard so many mixed reviews but I’m trying to keep an open mind 😅

Grave Mercy is a slow burn of a book but it's totally worth it! It's very political and schemey and full of poisons and has a really good romance. I know a lot of commenters have said the second book is even better and I agree with them! That romance is *chef's kiss* I also support with your choice to dump Caraval lol. That book is all aesthetic, no sense. Graceling, however, totally deserves its classic status and I was so pleased you liked it! I get so nervous when booktubers read my faves omg (also I know they're old school but I love The Demon King and The Girl of Fire and Thorns series a lotttt though they're both series where the first book is very much the weakest one unfortunately)

I’m with you on Caraval. I read the night circus and just did not like it at all, so when I heard it compared to Caraval I decided Caraval was not for me. Lock every door was amazing! It was my first Riley Sager book and I was not disappointed. I then read Final Girls by him which I liked, but it wasn’t as good as lock every door. I recently read his new release Home Before Dark and ahhhhh I loved it! You should check that one out. Anyway I love that you do these videos because some of the books you’ve talked about in both 1 and 2, are books I’ve been on the fence about too!

I remember watching a spoiler review of Lock Every Door and I don't remember the details, but it didn't sound like anything I would enjoy. Graceling was really mediocre in my opinion. :D I just couldn't believe the fight scenes, it was like 80% romance and 20% fantasy (and I just don't enjoy most romances). And the ending was... well... bad. :D
