@@Ithilienranger345 I am racist, and this show is still crap though even if everyone was a White man and woman it wouldn't save that this looks poorly directed, overuses cheap cgi and that the series is trying to "modernize" Tolkien's work. Tolkien's work doesn't need to be modernized, it needs to be accurately adapted because that's what brought people into the series and made his work so famous. Make adaptions for series what they are, not what they aren't. You wouldn't modernize a series like Fallout because that series is supposed to take place, Post Modern, after all this stuff. With this, Middle Earth isn't our Earth modernizing it makes no sense because their world doesn't work like ours, they wouldn't have anything similar to our own current topics that the series so desperately wants to shoehorn in. Stop saying. "I'm not racist, but-" start saying, "I am racist, and-" because then you've taken away their power. Because if liking Tolkien's work for what he made it to be makes you racist. If liking the original work from the original author makes you a phobe, then guess what I am now. It's like vegans trying to say that if you eat steak that you are a murderer. These days the terms "sexist", and "racist", are not so much descriptors of other peoples opinions, as simply insults levelled at anyone who dares to criticise established media. This is not just bad in terms of conflict and effectively insulting people, but also bad in terms of pointing out really sexist and racist behaviour, since if disliking something with a none white actor is racist, and yet, say treating someone badly because they are of a given race is equally racist, you've made the word "racism", mean effectively less. Then again, this is just the standard way the media works these days, if you don't get what you're given and like it, then you! are the one who is a bad person, since obviously these highly paid, highly privileged writers, actors and directors can't possibly do anything wrong, or make a bad product, especially when dealing with an established universe with an established fandom.

Did he called out the fanbase? Did he complained the fandom was machist because they did not wanted the original character (Tauriel)? NO! He suck it up, said nothing and when he did we can see he lamented how things went down (he never directed blame towards anyone, bot even the studio who deserved). PJ is a good man, one that actually shares a lot of similiarities with Tolkien. PJ never cared about fame or glory, he loved movies and wanted to create movies about his favorite stories (LOTR and that Gorilla story), now he chills in New Zeland, very far from the disgraceful Hollywood and their nasty people and ideologies. The Star Wars account has almost 6 mil followers if memmory serve, even if Moses got 100's, heck even if she got 1000's of stupid comments, that's is not even a single % of the fans following that account. The argument of racist, biggots etc. is constantly used, these last few years it has become more and more common, and it is simply an excuse to ignore and drown out actual fair critique of terrible writing/directing/acting.

About Ewan McGregor: Even if he thought the actress was getting legit "wacist" comments what makes him think he has the power to determine who is and isn't a "Star Wars fan" and why should they give a f*ck? When did adults become a bunch of babies and why do we think it's OK? [When I was a kid in the 80s if someone said something racist they'd get an insult back sometimes with a punch in the nose. That's better than everyone crying and moaning about things like they do today. Oh no! Someone's mean or an idiot. Let's ALL do SOMETHING about it. What a load of sh*t. How about correct or ignore the idiot and get on with things?] When did adults decide they can shape reality with their thoughts, opinions, and feelings? It's pathetic and infantile.
@zoch97972 жыл бұрын
It's literally childish behavior. That's the point. Media and entertainment want to perpetuate eternal childhood, because children clap at silly things and want to buy toys. People aren't having babies anymore, so they need to extend the longevity of childhood for that sweet sweet merchandising revenue from a new generation that doesn't exist.

Like seriously the weirdest stuff is the black cast members SUCK they're killing tf out of my childhood with "diversity and inclusion".. I see LOTR I see a bunch of white people doing cool shit, I see Black Panther and think African mfs kicking fucking up white people who hate black people but also working with white people sometimes.. I see Ariel and see a white woman and look at Ironheart and feel sadness they think even black people will be cool with that trash shit.. These corpos need to stop acting like we want to have parts in shit we dgaf about.. I don't wanna see a Black professor X or a Woman being hulk more than hulk (Yes I'm talking about this terrible she hulk adaptation) I wanna see good shit.. Not "inclusive" or "diverse" shit.. If they think I'm a racist for wanting a Tolkien adaptation to be faithful to what Tolkien wrote then so be it. I simply don't care. The epithet is meaningless these days. All it means is "a name to call someone I don't agree with because I'm too stupid to think of anything else". This show is rubbish and nothing will change my mind.
@droe25702 жыл бұрын
They don't actually think you're racist. They are trying to shame you. They are collectivists, and use shame on one another to control wayward members of the collective. However, if you are not a member of their collective, they can't shame you. In fact, attempts to shame you backfire, because being called this or that buzzword becomes a symbol of truth, or at the very least, a sign that says you are affecting them in ways they do not like.

Honestly? Classic excuse. While there are probably some legitimate racist hate, that doesn't justify the legitimate critics and concerns being raised by those who are aware of the lore breaking. This is typical deflection at its finest, and then they'll blame us for the series/movie doing bad because we don't watch it.

I'm cynical enough to think that the show will still garner an audience (to each their own I suppose) but I wonder if people will look back and still sing the same tune. One of the things I've come to understand by interacting online is that for every belief there is a person that believes that. Look at people that believe the Earth is flat. I am of the belief that it's OK to let people believe whatever they want to believe. What I don't like is when opinions are enforced. So, just let everyone believe what they want to believe, the only hurt a person feels because someone believes differently, is that person's choice to feel hurt.

One thing the producers of ring of power still hasn't presented is some kind of story. We know the show won't be based of Tolkien, but it could still be a ok show. But they will rather spend time attacking fans Tolkien then present a story, so how what should make us expect anything but a terrible adaption of Tolkien combined with a stupid story. It is not my job as a potential customer to build expectations.

Considering the fact they have just more or less stated "we have a diverse cast, look at me I am a black female dwarf, isn't that amazing? we also have harfoots, tolkien merely said HOBBITS had not significant role in the 2nd age, not harfoots! Look at Warrior galadriel! isn't she amazing?" So far we do not even have a story synopsis or anything about the series.
@MrBillclintin2 жыл бұрын
@@MyAramil the interesting thing is that the series I officially based on the second age, so we should know something about the story based on that fact alone. For people who aren't racist or don't care about race Knights Watch sure spends a lot of time talking about race, and worrying about which race is in which show. Maybe the excuse is: "the actors and producers and show runners all talk about and are obsessed with race". So that's a good excuse for Knights Watch to be obsessed with race? Why are Knights Watch so concerned about "activists" talking about and criticizing racism if they're not racist? You'd think they'd focus on their legitimate criticisms of the show (which hasn't come out yet), and not be concerned with all the talk about race? Assuming they're not racist. It's funny, the only people worried about being called racist for criticizing the show are the people with a history of being/being called racist.
