This is the worst PSA and says absolutely nothing. There's a reason every class has a specific set of rules beyond 10.00 and 155 mph. I get going 170-0 there isn't a whole lot, but in reality, there is. There's a reason cage hoops are required on 7 second cars and the cage designs differ between 7.99 and 6.99 cars. He's in an 8.0 car with factory seats and seat belts. There's absolutely nothing safe about this and you would not be allowed to race on any track for safety purposes unless its a private rental. He's racing on the street and we're talking about harnesses and seats being illegal? What? Safety first. I've been in the racing scene since the very early 00's, have seen this countless times. Seen a guy get decapitated at a yellow belly event when he had a 10.00 car, no cage, and hits a tree. Safety first. Get something anything betters your chances of survival.

Sorry to say, but I think this is quite an irresponsible video to post up. The fact is, neither you, me or anyone else knows exactly what happened. Claiming that a seatbelt or other safety features wouldn't have made a difference is ignorant. You claim that these safety devices would have done nothing in a collision where deceleration from 160mph to 0 occurs instantaneously. I agree with you there. However, we know this not to be the case. Prior to the collision, there was significant deceleration as the car was spun out and/or sliding down the road. How much the car exactly decelerated before major impact is unknown and would only be calculated/found through forensic investigations or black box recording. A collision at 100mph for instance is absolutely survivable in a modern car. The reality is, the safety measures built in modern cars are quite good. I've seen some absolutely incredible wrecks where only half the car is still left but the driver escaped with major injuries but alive. Admittedly, I am firmly against street racing since you are putting the general public at risk. At any point, you may lose control and end up in oncoming traffic or someone's backyard who had no say in any of it. However, if you choose to partake but refuse to make any investments in safety equipment, then that's on you. In all honesty though, I'm ok with that as well. Ultimately it's you that pays the ultimate price. However, you have a public platform with a decent following comprised by many young impressionable people. Spreading a message of "safety equipment wouldn't have made a difference" is incredibly irresponsible. Sorry to be so blunt, but this is how I see things. Your message can make the difference between someone using a seatbelt and in an accident the difference between life and death.

What’s weird is that in his first wreck his car spun out at the top of the quarter just by lifting off the throttle. They thought he blew his motor but he had to tell them that the car “just started sliding away”. In this second wreck it appears the car reacted in an extremely similar way at the end of the race.

Thank you Kev for this explanation. People even forget we also take risks driving stock cars, let alone modded/tuned cars on the street/highway since other drivers are present and we can’t control what they may do. Track is literally safest way.

Yup 💯. In my teens and early 20s we saw some street action but that was when running 15s quarter mile was fast. Now when you're no longer considered fast unless you're in the 9s, it should stay at the track. Public safety is always forgotten about when talking about street racing.
@TENNESSEETRACKHAWKАй бұрын
At the track ppl win cause they have the most money into their car. On the street its setup and driver skill. Big difference snowflake. Everyone is fast with a prepped surface. The point of street racing is its takes more skill to win!

I Was a big fan of 1stock. still am. but seatbelt might of not saved him but little things add up. if he was wearing a harness with a cage. im sure he would still be here today. the car also would be alot more intact if there was a cage. dont believe me? reasons why rally drivers were getting thrown off 50 foot hills and bigger and can just walk out. or drag racing where they have crashed at insane speeds. the evidence is out to show cages are a thing for a reason. if your running a 7-8 second car and dont have a cage thats on your own fault. adding 100 pounds or whatever it may be is better then dying. a cage plus a harness would of done ALOT. if not a engine diaper aswell 100$ at jegs or summit. if you argue with me your just a moron aswell.

I was in my car yesterday waiting for my mother to come out of her doctor appointment. I went to youtube an typed "M240i"and searched "today" videos. The first thing I saw was a picture of him and it said he died. It's crazy, man. That car was simply too fast for the street. I didn't even like BMW cars until the end of 2022. Especially when the B58 was on the rise. It started with the E36 M3 for me, and then I kept doing research. Hopefully I can get a G87 M2 or an F22 M240i someday. Right now, I'm struggling with my career and health. Nothing is going well in this life. Hopefully Dre made it to Heaven and the Golden City. Jack Burton said, "Never can tell."

MY CONDOLENCES ..... Didn't know the guy at all. I happen to run across a KZbin video three months ago of his shop installing an exhaust system. He seemed very knowledgeable. Then yesterday I saw a video on twitter that caught what appeared to be a small puddle of something on the race section of the street. If that indeed made contact with his tire, under acceleration, it could have easily caused a loss of control. Obviously, racing is dangerous. However, street racing is extremely dangerous due to all the additional variables. One tip I'll share, which is one we have used for over four decades, ensure that you "Walk the Track." Have several people spread across the run section. Walk the length and remove any and all debris. If there's wet spots, dry them. If there's dips, pot holes, etc. choose a different section. I've raced professionally for years, including street racing. We have always approached it with a professional perspective. We never want a person to leave the line to never return. Full respect. Be safe, don't clown.

It's quite something to say that racing safety equipment is dangerous on the street when talking about this particular case. Each and every piece of racing safety equipment is specifically designed to mitigate one or more risks associated with racing. If you are racing then you should rely on racing safety equipment. Why would you just rely on a heap of safety equipment that is designed for road use? He was famous because of racing. His vehicle was modified for racing. His main safety equipment, being his tyres, were designed for racing. The activity he often participated in when driving his vehicle was racing. The activity that cost him his life was racing.

@BigboyhpАй бұрын
Plenty of half mile cars have crashed at over 200+mph. With all safety precautions drivers walk out or live with minor damage. Same with rally drivers... fall off a cliff with a roll cage and they just jiggle around until they stop and get out. Safety is priority when going that fast.

All this and that about what he should’ve had, is beyond me. You can have all that stuff and still die in an accident. I don’t know if y’all believe in GOD or not, but your book is already written. If it’s your time GOD will call you home. It doesn’t have to be in a car accident. It can be from a heart attack, blood clot, chocking. Getting sick. Many many variables. We do our best with what we know, but looking at the car no way. As Kern mentioned you see the subframe, axles wheels missing etc. car was completely destroyed! Passenger was in the same wreck and survived, wasn’t his time. All I can say is rip 1stockf30 you will be truly missed bro. You inspired many b58 enthusiasts.
