Dobie has blonde hair at the beginning, but his hair darkened as the show went on. In later years, when he was a CBS executive,he was on a talk show and was asked,"Wold you put Dobie Gillis on today?" His reply was,"I doubt it would work today. Television audiences are much more sophisticated. Yes, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis was the best. It was really innovative and interesting while being funny at the same time. I enjoyed Dwayne Hickman's introduction to every show, and just his character, and little problematic circumstances he would find himself in. One of my favorite characters was Maynard G. Krebbs (Bob Denver). Every time the word, "work" was spoken Maynard would have a sort of little fit because he was a beatnik and had no interest whatsoever in work!

Dobie Gillis was the cause of the rebellion of the 1960's , not the Viet Nam War . Dobie was a kind of teenage Jack Kerouac for the Boomers , the TV Generation .
