It wasn't until I hit 25 did I realize one of my callings. I started working at AT&T at the age of 17 and by age 25 I went from Jacksonville to Miami to Atlanta. In Atlanta on my way to work, I saw a Jeep get hit on the expressway and it rolled over and onto the shoulder. I got out to help and the driver of the Jeep was a Paramedic on his way to work. I didn't have a clue what to do, so since he was conscious, I asked him how I could help. He talked me through everything and was stable by the time EMS showed up. I went on to work and the first thing I did was call the local college to find out about EMT courses. Got enrolled and after 6 months, I was certified. as an EMT 5 years later, I became a Paramedic! I worked, side by side, both jobs. M-F AT&T and SS on the rig. Fast forward to 2003, I retired AT&T and EMS. Later I went on to be a EMS 911 dispatcher. During the time I was in my teen years (During Vietnam), I never thought I would live to see the year 2000 (I was born in 1955) as I would be old (45). Every day since Jan 1, 2000, I count the days as being blessed to still be around. I'm 68 now and guess what I'm doing? My wife and I are in the beginning phases of a woodworking business called The Rustic River (TheRusticRiver.com) and will be specializing in Americana/Patriotic/Rustic Decor. I have been having so much fun getting 1/2 of the garage put together, building work benches, gathering all kinds of wood and my tools, and I haven't been happier! Count all your days as blessings and always smile reflecting back on your early years! Love your video's and I've learned a lot from the two of you!

@michaelmartin8036 what years did you work in Jacksonville with AT&T? I worked there in the early 2000’s with a bunch of guys that had all retired with between 35-40 years of service and they came back to work for a limited time.I’m still with the company.

@@Tripring2000 I started in '72 at 3451 Beach Blvd (Jax IOC). Went to Ojus (FL) in '77 and then up to Atlanta in '78. Retired in '03. Started as an Overseas/High Seas Operator, Clerk on 17C, Building Mtce, CommTech, promoted to Mgmt in 98 (A4) and last assignment, wrote M&Ps for Installation of Private Line Fiber Optics.

@@michaelmartin8036 nice. I started with Bellsouth in 2000, worked in Jacksonville for 3 years and loved it. AT&T took us over in 2007. Still working and have worked a variety of positions. Started off as craft and was promoted into management in 2006.
