The hallway looks so much lighter, brighter and cleaner with just the wallpaper gone. The light is a huge factor to consider going forward.

The hallway is so much brighter now that you have stripped off the wall covering. It looks really satisfying to pull down the big strips 😊 So good to see Margot back with you, and most especially to see Amy appearing more rested and Marc back to form.

So glad to see Marc up and around! ♥️♥️♥️ Rug races! 😁🤣😁 Wow, that space is so much brighter and more pleasant already - very much a good call to do that now, even if you won’t finish it soon. A pity you haven’t found a secret diary yet - awesome story, and thanks for the link. But fun to find some mystery sketches. Plus the new puzzle of the archway. The dendocronology sounds like a great student project/practice session for the university of Lyon. “Here kid, this could be from any time or place, do your best.” 😁 Fun to see the kids joining in, Clement with his classic enthusiasm and great brush-work, and Juliet with her always-intense concentration. ♥️♥️♥️ I’m looking forward to the next chapter in the chateau, and to head back to the garden next week.

Opening your home life, albeit to a uniquely homey chateau experience is in itself a privilege to receive but as well a humanitarian act of generosity to many old folk living alone like myself, a gift of human poetry at it's finest wit, candor and infinite tenderness. Special thanks to brilliant and lovely Margo and her mum .🌹🌹🌹

When I removed the 2 layers of wallpaper in our hallway /stairwells/foyer I found an x and the date 1904. I think the paper installer made their mark and dated the work. The history and stories are what make these old places interesting ❤

I think it's fascinating how doors came to light when the wall paper came off... this space just opens up and looks so much better. I think Juliette was in her element being allowed to pick at a wall and not get in trouble for it. Thanks so much for sharing this moment in time.

About 20 years ago, we pulled down the past owners’ vinyl wallpaper in our hallway. The kids loved it so much that 2 weeks later I received a call from my mom in California who was watching the kids while I was in New Orleans. What an exciting episode, loved how the children were right in with the work and having fun at it. Yes, you are correct, the hallway without the fabric wallpaper looks so much better. Great discovery that you have original wooden doors under there. A great hack for stripping off the additional paper would be to add a bit of fabric softener to the water in the steamer. It helps to hold the moisture into the paper backing a wee bit longer and keeps the fibers softer until you can remove them. It also makes any area you are working on smell so much nicer too. Best to all of you from a very hot (114 degrees Fahrenheit today) in Central California.
