Had to do it, ripping out the Ettinger which I just put in the ground but for a different reason. Bought a new Avocado, the Esther Avocado. The Esther is (Guat) Round, green, pebbly, thick skin, 14-28oz. fruit, medium seed, attractive flesh, July to Dec. in Irvine, A blossom type, peels, compact tree of small size(2/3 size of Hass). It is supposed to be 2X more productive than Hass - Creamy Pulp. 🥑Avocado Talk🥑

Just had Louie's deliver six Avocado trees a week ago ... picked up a Zutano, Queen, Carmen Hass, Ettinger, Leavens Hass and Esther ... then had 245 3 cubic feet bags of soil delivered this week ... have my work cut out for me ... 18 different varieties of Avocado trees so far and have my eye on a few more ... Avocados all year long ... can't wait! Enjoy watching your videos, it's always cool to see what others are doing in their gardens and orchards.

Wow wow wow, awesome neighbor. Keep me posted how yours does compared to mine. 18 different varieties is already amazing. You got the bug, let's do this journey together. A variety that I have on order is called Palo D'oro and won't be available till this spring. Your hard work will be with it. Thanks for watching!

@@AvocadoTalk Haven't heard of that variety. When you get it post a video and I'll be sure to watch. We may just be in the same neighborhood, or at least in the same area. We'll probably run into each other at some point as we haunt the same nurseries. Robert

Great video! Wow, I am really impressed that you do your own irrigation system! I don't have an Esther, seems like a great avocado tree, thanks for the introduction and another great video!

This fix was easy, worst part was moving the avocado. Need to get the Esther planted before getting another, that is the plan. Thanks for watching!

I picked out the music just for the time of the season... There was so much dirt in the line, had to flush it all out from each sprinkler down the line, what a pain but worth it. Thanks for watching!

REM I posted earlier but I think KZbin deleted it! I think I said something politically incorrect about Esther. That’s Great you can get Esther at Louie’s. I didn’t know it was being propagated and being sold. Ask Louie’s if they carry Whitsell. Now you probably already aware but in 1982 Berg and Whitsell from UCR filed patents for Gwen, Esther, and Whitsell - thinking this trio was going to knock the almighty Hass out as the top dog commercially but it never panned out for reasons I don’t understand other than I think none turn black when ripe. I would be very curious to see how you track Esther vs Hass vs Gwen vs Whitsell bc I doubt many people have all 4.
@AvocadoTalk

That seems to happen when there is a link or they don't like what is being said. I think that they were all supposed to be good Hass alternatives with green skin when ripe. Planning to search for whitsell.

@@AvocadoTalk you must be right. I included the link to the patent filed by Berg and Whitsell that details the trees. If haven’t done already Google it as it’s worth a read. I’m very curious as to the real reason why Gwen, Esther, and Whitsell never really took off other than color change. The second wave out of UCR now is starting to catch on with growers - Lamb and GEM but not so much Sir Prize. Have you heard of UCR 1,2,3,4? Those 4 are the next wave Dr. Arpaia and her team are getting ready to release and they look really good from reports I’ve seen so far.

Looks like a good pick for an avocado. A types are supposed to be better at production. Always great varieties near you! I would have left the tree and just dug two holes on either side and rerouted the line if the tree was to big to move. But not sure how easy that would be with your soil.

Heard it was a good one so I'm excited I got it. Seriously got so many broken, leaky PVC pipe. This old house I'm in has 6-7 different types of pipes in the ground so every fix had been interesting. Gotta do it if I want my avocados hydrated. Thanks for watching!

@@AvocadoTalk I feel you on that one. My house was on well and got switched to city water and it's a mess in the ground between that and the water lines for the garden she had that no longer exist.

I have a young Esther that I got from LHN this past spring. It was from those orange liners. I planted it in a 5 gallon with top pot and it’s grown nice over the summer. I have been debating if I should plant it now or wait till spring. I didn’t know much about it, same as the Leavens Hass and Gray Martin told me that it’s a very good variety. I also asked him about Leavens Hass and he didn’t really know anything about it.

Hi Bill, I have the Leavens Hass on my list to potentially get too but just don't know to much about it. I'm going to just put mine in the ground as soon as I can find some time to do it. It's easier to buy it than plant it so just have them sitting in pots for now, all 10 of them. Thanks for watching!

I totally agree, it’s easy to buy them but then I have to figure out where I’m going to squeeze another one in. But when you have a compulsive urge to buy that next variety you don’t really worry about it until later.
