This is my favorite holiday movie. Jack Frost's backstory and center is so tragic and moving. He didn't just save his sister in that moment, he made her FEEL safe in the midst of danger, and it was that ability that made the Moon choose him. The Guardians protect children from darkness and fear. Jack does it by making cold and winter, a time that by all rights should be miserable and terrifying for us as humans, into something beautiful and fun. He takes something that children should fear and helps them find the fun in it, just like he did with his sister on the ice. So beautiful.

"You're all hard work and deadlines, and I'm all snowballs and fun times." Fun Fact: This was the last Christmas movie Roger Ebert ever wrote a review for. He did give it a good one. Fairy Tale Fact: In one scene, the Tooth Fairy finds a mouse beneath a pillow. This is Ratoncito (Little Mouse) Perez, or The Tooth Mouse, a children's book character created by Spanish author Luis Coloma in 1894 said to replace lost baby teeth with gifts in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Latin America. Historical Fact: Bunny mentions that Jack Frost caused a blizzard on Easter Sunday of 1968, a reference to an actual event. At the beginning of the movie, Jack Frost walks through a Colonial American village. In the background, the folk song "Kempe's Jig" is playing. This was a popular early eighteenth century English dance song, named in honor of William Kempe, a famous sixteenth century English comic stage actor, whose work influenced modern comedic acting, stand-up comedy, and improvisational comic skits.

This is one of my favourite movies and I am so glad you decided to watch it. The sequence towards the end when Sandman creates all the dream-creatures always makes me cry. It may sound strange, but whenever I watch this I always want to watch The Holiday next -- because Jude Law, who plays Pitch, is one of the romantic leads in The Holiday and I love his voice. But I loved this reaction and thank you again for giving it a try!

This is based on a book series by William Joyce; his books are the basis for things like Rolie Polie Olie, Meet the Robinsons, Robots, etc. His daughter died at a young age (she was 18), and the Guardians book series was dedicated to her memory. I think the main character in Epic (2013) is also named after her, including the character in the original book it's based off. A lot of his work is very focused on protecting children, their childhoods, and their dreams; the Guardians is the peak example~ He lives and works out of the city where I grew up. He's a beloved local celebrity; not just because he's successful but he invests a lot into children, the arts, and getting children into the arts locally. He and all the people he works with that I've met have always been a pleasure to interact with. I love to tell this story about when my best friend and I were participating in scavenger hunt~ One of the items involved getting a picture with an Oscar winner, their Oscar, and someone wearing a bald cap. On a whim, I wrote to his local animation studio asking if William could help. I quickly got an email back saying he was out of town and wouldn't be back in time BUT his partner he got the Oscar with was more than happy to help~^.^ My best friend and I got to go to the studio and take the picture, but after we took the picture, his partner asked if we needed help with anything else. We mentioned needing as many pictures with hugs as we could get. We were promptly taken on a mini tour of the whole studio (there was lots of Guardians stuff around, and we were super excited about it^.^) and introduced to everyone that wasn't at lunch, who were more than happy to take photos. We've run into people we've met that day a few times, and they always offer to help with any future scavenger hunt (but we always politely turned them down, because it felt like cheating to get help from a professional animation and visual effects studio on anything art related if they weren't official team members^.^)

This movie is one of my fav but the thing is the books are way more interesting.. It explores the original story of pitch black, jack frost and the man in the moon and their relationship. SPOILERS!!!! . Pitch black has one of the most heartbreaking back story i have ever read.. that is why he is very complex and one of my fav "villians" .. He wasnt always the nightmare king but a golden general called *kozimos pintcher* who protected a golden kingdom that was far away from earth..this kingdom was ruled by a kind and powerful king who trusted kozimos to protect his people from the darkness that was created by fear and nightmares.. So with an army behind him he manged to capture it and locked it in seals meant to keep them away forever to create a peaceful world again .. But he wasnt fast enough because the darkness manged to kill his beloved wife and duaghter.. 💔 And because these seals needed a guardian the king chose kozimos for this cost.. After losing his family he slowly began to lose his mind and the darkness used that to their benefit by mimicking his duaghter's voice to convince him that she wasnt dead instead been captured by them this whole time .. "she" cried for her father to save her for months and in the end kozimos couldnt take it anymore and was forced to open the seals to save "his duaghter" and it was too late for him.. he got posessed by the darkness and became pitch black "the nightmare king"...he corrupted his army of golden warriors to become nightmares and nightmare men and with them he manged to destroy the kingdom he once swore to protect and eventually killed the king and his queen.. However.. before they were killed they used a powerful magic to protect their one_year old son whom named *manny* .. This powerful magic created a star called *the nightlight* who took the baby faraway from the fallen kingdom and planned on taking him to earth to keep him save and away from the nightmare king but pitch black manged to follow them both and fought the nightlight in a battle So great it ended up freezing them both in a lake on earth and leaving manny on the moon alone and powerless.. After So many years the baby became *the man in the moon* and with his power he tried to raise his guardian from the lake But in doing so the nightmare king was awaken too and that was the start of *the dark ages*.. On The other hand the nightlight tried to stop him by dreaming and he manged doing So while the man in the moon chose the other guardians to spread hope and wonder without Actually meeting the nightlight.. after that the nightlight decided to change his fate from dying and becoming a star to search for the family he once saw in his dream and become human called "jackson overland" and he managed to find them and lived with them for a long time that is how he met his "sister" whom he loved dearly.. The lake accident was done by a loyal servent of pitch black who broke the ice trying to kill both of them but jack stepped in and saved her ..and by doing so he became jack frost. Jack frost didnt Actually died in the lake he got frozen for dacedes and in Order for pitch black not finding him in his nightmares .he let go of his power and memories.. That explian why he doesnt remember anything from his "childhood".. The story is so beautiful that it deserve an original movie but the studio is stupid for not even trying to do So.. 💔 There are fanfictions about the past and the future of jack frost and pitch black which is darker than a children movie.. One of the best is rocks give away to rain archiveofourown.org/works/8176081/chapters/18732313

Jack Frost is, by far, one of the most misunderstood and miswritten characters in any fanbase- he has a certain assurance in his abilities and knowledge of the limits of how much a kid can physically take (he's clearly not concerned when he sends Jamie flying on the sled, but it's obviously because he already knows he's alright- he knows from the depth of the snow and the trajectory that Jamie is likely okay) that most of the fandom misreads as arrogance. He's not arrogant! He's not malevolent about his mischief! He just wants attention because he's been so deeply alone and hurt for the last three centuries, and has resorted to his powers to get it because it's his only way to interact with mortals. He's not a cocky teenager but he gets reduced to a Slytherin stereotype (he's a ravenclaw, change my mind). And because people will ask- he's a ravenclaw because most of his fighting style involves thinking his way out of problems, being light on his feet, and using fun and games to get around obstacles. He's brave, witty and cunning, but those aren't what make him stand out. He stands out for his mental and physical agility. (He totally has ADHD too.)

Hello David and Marc, I'm sorry for being absent here lately, But I'll try to compensate by bringing fun facts about the movie. The Easter Rabbit was voiced by Hugh Jackman. The Mouse who collects the tooth is known in America Latina as El Ratón Perez, basically, he does the same job as the tooth fairy, you leave a tooth below your pillow and he collects it and leaves money in place of the tooth. Edit: I Hope both of you are healthy and good. Loves you 3000...

This film was from a series of books written and illustrated by William Joyce. Joyce is an Oscar and Emmy Award winning animator in his own right, and the style and use of color you appreciated in this film comes from him. There is one theory, if you see the toothfairy which is still with Jack (+-18:09), she has a beauty mark next to her right eye, and if you look at Jack's sister (+-18:19). She has it too, so maybe the toothfairy is Jack's sister.
