Guilliman might have had to use a careful approach with the high lords both due to being alone, but also because of his nature. Lion will not be so subtle. If the high lords make another move against Guilliman or Lion himself he will paint the walls of the imperial palace with them. Once he gets a full picture of what the Imperium has become in the last 10,000 years his rage will give Khorne a hard on. Anyone who raises even a finger will end up turned into corpse starch before the end of the day. Dark Angels will not fuck around with pretending what the Emperor used them for back in the day now that their primarch is back. Space Wolves might be Emperors executioners used to make an example of the enemy. The Dark Angels are the Emperors eradicators used to delete his enemies so that there is not even a memory of them left. Here we go. The Dark Angles. The very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every motherfucking xeno in the sector, accept no substitutes

I love the concept of the Watchers... I like to imagine this 10 feet tall hulking figure walking in a dark pub, and asking in a deep, booming voice "how do you do, fellow humans?"

Most likely they use some sort of concealment device that makes them appear a common Astartes or human depending on the intelligence operation. We saw various Alpha Legion operatives use them throughout the Heresy to appear as Alpharius to fool outsiders, even one event where an operative appeared to imitate Omegon to fool his own cadre into doing the Primarch's biding in a suicide mission, so it can no doubt be used in reverse to make a Custodes appear smaller.

They won't rise to the level of power they once held and it won't be because there are now two Primarchs awake and active in the galaxy. It won't happen because of the Custodes. The Emperors Companions are done sitting on the sidelines and playing passive defense. They're more active now than they have been since the Unification Wars. They will never let a group like the High Lords of Terra muck it up again.

I had 3 chapters left in The Regents Shadow when you uploaded this. Didn't even look, just hit play cuz its my boy Rho. 5 secs into the video had to abrubtly abort mission lol. Anyway, finished that up and I'm back to enjoy the Wolf Lords musings 😅

I feel like the Wraight novels on Terra were trying to dial back from the idea of the High Lords being incompetent and loyal only to themselves, as it has a bit of the Grimderp flavor, and that the lore is trying to move away from that, to them being at an impossible task and downright geniuses in their own zone to have kept things together for 10,000 years, though often power-hungry and selfish, but that it hasn't entirely caught on yet in favor of the stupid-useless meme of prior times :)

I also think that Captain General of Custodies has to be part of High Lords decisions. Meaning there was no Malcador like figure for the High Lords over the last 10,000 years. To help them separate politics from reality. Meaning Humans will always play their 'games', but if they have an anchor in the real world like the Captain General. Then when its not serious the humans are allowed to play. But when things are serious as they are now they are forced to put away childish games at least to deal each crisis as it comes. That way you take human nature into account when creating a leadership system like the High Lords. But it sorta points out why humanity embraced democracy for so much of its history (before the Age of Strife) as fascist states like the Imperium of Man start to fall apart rather quickly due to human nature. Even if you remove Chaos from the galaxy, without the EoM Super Soldiers like the Custodies and Astartes. The IoM would have collapsed into petty pocket empires long ago. Based on some worlds, even all humanity sharing the Imperial Creed is not enough to prevent civil war. Only with the shock and awe of Space Marines have High Lords maintain their tenuous control for the last 10,000 years. Meaning Guillemin didn't understand that the EoM didn't want democracy as long as he was in charge. But without the EoM or Malcador, well we saw the result.

The amount of typos really shows your lack of knowledge. The golden boys answer only to the emperor. The High Lords of Terra hold no power over them and if they would go against the Custodes will it would just be a quick death. The point about civil wars and the Imperial Creed again shows your depth. There is no rebellion against the Imperium if youve accepted the Emps. If you're rebelling you obviously don't believe. Guilliman is the Imperial Lord Regent/ Lord Commander. He doesn't ask hes a f-ing Primarch

The Highlords have a place to serve, and can be useful, so long as Robute doesn't deal with them using kid gloves, he already tried that with the last council of high lords and had to put a bunch of them down. Wonder if the Minotaurs learned their lesson or need to get a spanking from the custodes to not side with the high lords over the good of the imperium.

Guilliman didn't fix anything. In fact he may be making it worse. He created a bunch of reforms and ran off during the time his amends are being implamented. Which is the worst possible timing, There's always going to be issues and mixed signals anytime new revisions are implemented. Then he left someone to watch over whose only ideas of politics is threats. Which will be effective at first. Threats of violence and death will only go so far. This can only end one way. Once the day comes the High Lords of Terra are truthfully unable to do what's requested, to attack first.

Fact is WD stories are often even less inspired than most “bolter porn” BL fiction. Of course the High Lords are going to be little conniving politicians that refuse to do the right thing on their own. That’s because this trope allows the hero (Valoris in this case) to shine in overcoming their selfish reluctance. It’s just a tired and tried trope and honestly I wouldn’t read anything into it aside GW writers doing the bare minimum required to move things forward.

Rho, I’ll tell you again, Malkador is the architect of the Horus Heresy. He is why our emperor is imprisoned on the golden throne. The warp entity of the emperor is not the true emperor. They are not one and the same. Notice the warp emperor is working to keep the perpetual emperor trapped on the throne!
