One thing I’ve always admired about this type of music is yes it was predominantly white audience but I’ve felt so welcomed as a brown man. I was a part of something during this phase. I remember going to a festival and a group of black guys (clearly not knowing anything about the music and environment) were there and no one made them uncomfortable.
