The power of a strong soundtrack is very compelling. The reason I was never able to get into RO2: Vietnam is because the soundtrack was weak/non-existent. Both American and Japanese music gets me pumped and eager to fight for victory. Vietnam makes me feel like nothing is at stake. When I play Japan, I get the feeling of a cornered animal. I feel like this is the last chance to save my dying empire. The last chance to fight off the Westerners with all the honor and glory with my Nippon steel. At the same time, I feel like I'm fighting for culture. For the past, and the things it represents. And fear for what may happen to that culture if I lose. When I play America, I get the feeling of a war weary nation. One that has seen so much struggling and death that they are just...Tired, so tired of everything. Just wanting to finish off their last stubborn foe and go back to resting. To heal and repair the scars of a brutal war. At the same time, it has a feeling of heroism. I feel like my cause is just, and that the struggles are for an ideal greater then myself. THAT is what I feel when I play Rising Storm. RO2: Vietnam just can't replicate those feelings in me.
