Really glad to hear it! If I can do it then you can too! I'm still working on my confidence myself, still always doubtful about how high to highlight and doing new techniques like the NMM on his armor here but always end up pleasantly surprised :)

I think it is fantastic, the only thing I will probably do is I ll go easy on the colours for painting clans and try to match the colour theme, I just like it when I am able to quickly judge the situation on board and while you can certainly see it through bases I just want that clear overview

Makes a ton of sense and I fully support that :) My hope is that the colors (which will be a solid rim color on the Bushi) and the differences in basing for each clan will help. Time will tell though.

Thank you for the compliment! I think you are right, "complicated" is a great word for this one. It's not quite "overdone" but it's pretty darn close :D

He didn't actually pick the colors, he is using the color scheme printed on this clan reference sheet from the board game.

There's a lot more to it than that ;) It's about picking which red to use, or deciding which red to use and wash to use to where the final color is correct, or which of the 10ish grays I have to use for the NMM. It actually takes a bit to plan these color wise. Actually, it's MUCH quicker and easier to pick colors without reference art such as what I did with Fallout, since I can just pick what I want. Trying to reproduce colors accurately isn't always easy, ESPECIALLY with concept art that can be stylized and show shadowed colors weird and stuff like that. One of the hardest parts of this was actually deciding what to do with the hair. It's definitely very bright in the concept art highlight sections, but obviously has some brown in there as well such as in the front, however the hair doesn't look dirty either.

The next one will actually be a monster :D I thought about doing something like a whole Clan and all the Oni in one go, but it takes a while to publish these so I want to mix it up a bit for everyone :)

Hah! I have an idea of how I am going to handle it but will perhaps plan it out later today after work :) I need to go back and watch my Cockatrix video from Massive Darkness as I did feathers on him as well. One of the benefits of having everything recorded! :P
