With all the 80's garbage this movie always stuck out.. watching its almost dreamlike visuals not to mention Tangerine Dream playing hypnotic music in the background.. with an absolutely stunningly beautiful Tom Cruise at his Apex.. this movie always haunted me when i first saw it by accident on some 80's channel in 2014 when i was 17 years old.. The pressures he's going through trying to get into a good college NOT wanting to make that 1 mistake that could destroy your whole future.. i also felt this. I saw friends of mine who were 4 or 5 years older still living with their parents working some crappy job they hate just to survive. I didn't want that for myself. I constantly feared being "a loser". This movie encapsulated all that and more but made it feel right when Joel gets his wish.. getting into Princeton. Amazing.

I thought this was produced by Michael Mann up until last year. Masterpiece Film that has such Miami Vice vibes.

Outstanding video. My wife was better looking than Rebecca Demornay. No kidding. I was a lucky man. Unfortunately she died on active duty Navy in 2014 and was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery with full honors. I retired at 30 years and no woman can come close to her intelligence, bravery, beauty. I miss her dearly.

He wore them at the party later with all his friends and the girls, so we put that together and assumed he was wearing sunglasses throughout the entire movie.

It's Bahai Temple in Wilmette Illinois, a beautiful suburban town along Lake Michigan north of Chicago. I lived 5 minutes from that temple and drove by after midnight every day while I was working on my PhD at Northeastern University years ago.

Great movie. But I like rock and roll and I like disco too. I hate how Bob Segar puts disco down. Disco was usually a whole entire orchestra of instruments and the other songs used the same instruments as rock and roll. If you want to make fun of today's music ok. But I hate this song

The '80s was very materialistic. Many of the era's films reacted against that with a message that life was about more than just making money. Risky Business, to its credit, had a different message: Life IS about making money, but you don't have to make it by going to Harvard Business School. Instead, you can just be a small-time pimp.

I watched "Risky Business" recently and while there are some funny scenes in it, I realized it is actually a satire on capitalism and materialism. Joel, while he certainly is a capitalist, begins to question things. Hence, his saying near the end of the movie, "I grossed $8,000 in one night. Isn't life grand?" He made all that money but after paying for all the repairs on his father's Porsche and buying back all the furniture, the money was gone and he didn't get to enjoy it.
