I love the developing story your telling. We can see that the military didn’t all fall but only fell in north KY. Like they’re still around but they only control the major cities. The lore of PZ is up to interpretation and you interpreted it well. In your stories we see the outbreak gap later in time as an outbreak couldn’t all happen on the same few days as well as all communication being offline. We also don’t know what is going on it the areas where the Knox event isn’t confirmed. But in your interpretation we also see more military and survivors, as well as more hope for a new world. I see this as the cannon of what the rest of the world is like in PZ.
@twowheeledgaming10 ай бұрын
It is nice that a lot of the specifics regarding the outbreak in other areas is pretty vague. I know Indie Stone did a big tweet thing for their anniversary awhile back going through different locations and how they fell, but it felt a bit hollow since it was just kinda a bulletin list. I've always imagined that an event like this would be *messy* in the truest definition of the word. Not only would it be incredibly different from one place to the next, but shifting between weeks and months the landscape of the world would be in a constant state of flux, which ultimately gives us the interesting stories to tell in scenarios such as these. Glad that my "version" feels right in your mind, and I'm always looking forward to exploring it ever further the longer we go on.

I have a whole document of notes, but the main three reasons were: Has a hydroelectric damn near the town to provide power. There's a relatively nearby military base that could explain a heavy presence in ex-military/government officials. I'm always curious, what would you do if say, in that house you looted at the start, you'd dropped your guard and gotten killed. Would that just become the end of the story, or would you reload and would we be none the wiser? Was really looking forward to this! Loving that you went through with the inclusion of multiplayer, it does really add an extra dynamic to it.
@twowheeledgaming10 ай бұрын
I'd find it kinda blasphemous to reload if I messed up. The main focus of the game is that it's entirely unscripted when it comes to the events that transpire in game. If I sat down to record next session and Grover got bit from me being careless, then I'd just have to figure out how to formulate that into a compelling story before he ended up turning. The only time I would consider "going back", would be if some technical issue occurred. (Game crashing leading to my death, files getting corrupted, footage getting corrupted, etc.) There was the scenario where we re-shot Jules vs. Kevin's fight scene back in Season 2, because we were just getting used to the quirks in multiplayer and there were several takes that simply were unusable due to janky shenanigans, but once we got a take that wasn't a mess we went with that.

*Fair warning, I ran a wordcount on this comment, and it almost cracked 1k. Now, on with my usual bout of being the peanut gallery:* You heard him, Bouncer! BEDREST! Oh my god, he actually slept. Color me surprised! That's more canned peaches! And the genny manual! This house has it all! GODDAMNIT IT, BOUNCER! Well, at least he's keeping it to light duty. It is NOT better than nothing, but I guess it's something. And we've got power! Beautiful! And I was in the middle of typing a warning about noise and nighttime lights (endangering them from zombies and fellow survivors alike) when they started discussing it, so cue me shutting up and waiting. Ooh, there's definitely something to unpack here with Bouncer finally balking at action. Is there something he's not telling us about the loss of Big Red and Mike? Or is he just understandably concerned about returning to the site if a slaughter, where his friends may be shamblers and the murderer may still be perched? I wonder if that 'NJ' graffiti was already there before the outbreak, or if a survivor tagged the wall while hiding out? Maybe one survivor was leaving a message for another: 'headed to New Jersey, see you there'? Or maybe they're the tagger's initials, a sort of 'Killroy was here' thing? Aww, a bed for Bouncer! Not that the little shit will use it much, but still! A guitar?! Okay, this is shockingly precious! And, come on, don't leave us hanging on the Corvette story! Oh man, I want to know what would happen if Bouncer finds the journals! Did Bouncer know Connor? Because I'm pretty sure neglecting to tell Bouncer about him (even if him being dead and a chomper was the most likely outcome) is also a senior moment. And while I'm fairly sure Grover meant 'more gunshot wounds than when I last saw him' and not 'I've shot Bouncer a time or two in the past', that phrasing made me rewind to confirm! Bouncer won't be happy that Gills went out alone, but he'll he livid if he learns that he went down to the checkpoint alone! What the hell was that?! That was a human voice! But was it a survivor (the shooter, maybe?) or something else? If they can sprint, after all, why not use their voices? Turn around, Grover! I wanna know what happened, too! Oh, so Bouncer knew he was going to the checkpoint. This is what I get for watching while doing chores - I miss things! My bad. And yeah, I obviously don't want Grover dead just to settle my curiosity, but I still do hope that reasonable caution doesn't rob me of my answers! Anyway, that hunter's supply store sounds promising! And, oh my god, that hooker story had me in stitches! Bouncer continues to be hilarious! (Also, I rather sincerely hope they roll up on a bunch of dead hookers and one lone survivor who had to survive both the initial infection and then being the only person who didn't turn. A prostitute holed up in the shop sounds both funny and intriguing.) Ha, about time Bouncer got some light in his room! (It got a certain Police song involving red lights stuck in my head.) And at least Gills has a pillow, now. Hopefully, a real bed is next on the horizon for those old bones! Ha, supple! Okay, maybe it's a weird thing to comment on, but that sound design! Not just the gulping sounds, not just the sound of them handling cans, but the sound of Grover's ring clinking on the can! That was thoughtful and immersive! Ooh, a pond! If anyone is still alive in that hunting supply shop, it's probably due in part to fishing for dinner with the bait and tackle found inside. And possibly eating some of the live bait, like how Jules had to hunt for bugs. “For protection, of course.” I don't know if this dialogue is you being great at writing banter, adlibbing, or both, but I love it! BUNNY EARS! Oh my god, I wasn't expecting actual bunny ears. If I may say, I'm genuinely proud of how you've circumvented the foibles of PZ's multiplayer to tell a story with multiple survivors. This scene must have been so hard to shoot, but you found ways to make it work in your favor, such as having Gills and Bouncer fight back to back. It's a genius workaround that would've gone completely unnoticed if I hadn't watched your video on why you won't be using Superb Survivors. And secondly, this combat dialogue is great! I love this gruff mentor/mentee relationship. Ooh, one of those zombies has a katana in it! The idea of the zombies 'fighting through the windows' is fascinating. How DO the undead tell the difference between themselves and survivors? Clearly, not by sight alone. Maybe it is by scent? Grover having a smoke surrounded by corpses reminded me of Merry and Pippin smoking Saruman's stash. “We are sitting on a field of victory, enjoying a few well-earned comforts!” Any salted pork to be had, I wonder? Ooh, somebody locked themselves into a saferoom! There's a story there! Looks like they hid in there when the first few turned, obviously bitten and not knowing they were already doomed. Wonder if that was the kook owner? That one zombie looked so much like Jamie, uniform and everything, that I did a double-take. . . . I am deeply unsettled by the somber music you're using for what should be a triumphant moment. Gunshots! It can't be Bouncer, this time. The checkpoint! The sniper is still alive for now, at least.
@twowheeledgaming10 ай бұрын
What a comment! As always, you don't disappoint. :) There's so many things to respond to, but I'll try to hit the most important ones. :P I hadn't even considered the zeds being able to scream like humans. Of course we've seen this in other zombie media, but for some reason thinking about it in PZ makes my skin crawl. The little quips and jabs are mostly me when putting together the writing, but Goatie (the one doing the voice for Bouncer) occasionally will adjust a line to fit better or suggest a change that's ultimately a nicer fit. For this episode, he also actually plucked away at his guitar for the sounds that play when Bouncer is fussing with it. The effects I add in usually are there for when Zomboid lacks enough "presence". So many animations and actions have no noises, and when it's right in the middle of dialogue or narration, it can feel incredibly jarring to go to complete silence. Hence, the beer cans being fussed with sound effects were born. :P All the events around the gun store were pretty interesting, since obviously we weren't expecting to roll up on a place full of zombie hookers, which then had to be explained somehow within the story. I purposefully didn't draw too much attention to it, but while Bouncer is constantly making fun of the morbid situation, Grover genuinely gets a bit more quiet and concerned. There's probably more to mine there, but I'll leave it at that. :P

It would be interesting to see how these guys would respond to Jules. Somehow I feel like these guys wouldn't be too bad of people and wouldn't get in a conflict with him. But at the same time I'd feel a bit concerned over it, as I have grown to love Jules story and character, but now I'm also rather liking these two characters in this story. Either way, this one is shaping up pretty nicely... Or... What if it turns out that the time frame of some of this is a bit in sync with Jules' own story? Perhaps the shooting near the checkpoint was due to Kevin offing some other individuals? Unless I'm completely misplacing the location of where the checkpoint is relative to where he was encountered at the end of Jules' own story.
@twowheeledgaming10 ай бұрын
I think ultimately that's the point of the entire series. Comparing and contrasting the many different characters and personalities that are highlighted, and enjoying their vastly different approaches to this extreme scenario. It'll always be hard to say how each of the characters would interact with one another, because each survivor has shifted their personality pretty drastically over the course of their respective journeys. Jules is probably the most obvious shift, where "early" Jules and "late" Jules might interact with Grover in entirely different ways. Also, just a side note, this season is taking place in Memphis, Tennessee. Though of course it's the Raven Creek map, I thought it would be fun to play around with what happened outside of Knox County.

I love this shit. Keep up the good work. I know you mentioned in your Q&A video that you were hesitant to do a series were you featured other characters due to scheduling conflicts with the voice actor(s) and the multiplayer desync issues. Are you still trying to do more of a solo series or do you think you will move forward with more multiplayer elements?
@twowheeledgaming10 ай бұрын
I'm pretty split down the middle at the moment. A lot of the reason it took so long to get this episode out is because of all the annoyances and extra steps it takes to make two characters work in this setting. It's not the end of the world, but I was finding myself no longer enjoying the editing process when it just became too tedious. On the other hand however, having a secondary character or even more is such a cool concept to be able to play around with, that it's hard to write it off entirely. Long story short, I'm still feeling this concept out and seeing if it's sustainable. If I ultimately decide it's too much of a drain on me to keep up, I'll probably steer back towards more singleplayer focused stories.
@alexchan189610 ай бұрын
@@twowheeledgaming I'm gonna be honest in saying that I really disliked the wait compared to the output of your previous videos. I liked how sparse the in-person human interactions were in the first two series and think that in person events should happen for key narrative moments like the final shootout in West Point. Narratively speaking, I feel that it would be interesting if there's a character that actually starts in a community and leaves it, but keeps in contact with them via radio and see other members pop up every once in a while. That way, its still mainly solo adventures. Bottle stories occur when you do encounter someone, which should help with the editing/pace thing. With that said, I do like the inclusion of Bouncer and I look forward to see where this story goes.
@twowheeledgaming10 ай бұрын
@@alexchan1896 I can certainly agree with you on some of those points and have had very similar thoughts and ideas surrounding it. The main thing I'm trying to avoid, is making the runs too structured or scripted, since the whole point of the series is to present recognizable gameplay but in a more character-driven format. So ideas like having set backstories with groups, or incorporating systems to have characters coming in and out feels a bit out of the scope of the "usual gameplay". I'll say I'm not 100% happy with how this season is going and how much of a pain the multiplayer aspect is in practically every regard of the video creation process, so I'm already leaning towards a return to single player whenever this season wraps up. Ultimately I'm just going to keep trying new and different things with the series as we go, and see what works and what doesn't. Otherwise, I feel like the content would end up getting pretty stale. :P I do really appreciate the honest feedback, since I like to know what you all are thinking as the stories play out. :)
