one of the most underrated games for Amiga. Graphics are awesome, detail and color-wise. It really seems a Megadrive/Genesis level game

The music of "game over" when you die or finished the game, with a map chinese style as background is a masterpiece. The composer is Jose A. Martín. In Spain he created a lot of themes for Dinamic soft. For example, The menu Music of the Astro Marine Corps is AWESOME: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3a7aGSLqM-CZpY

I had this game when I was 7. It was so DAMN HARD. I still use the self-created term "risky woodie" when I speak about something nearly impossible to do.

Dinamic Hard, its games were already tough in the 8-bit era :)

Funny how having a risky woody means something completely different as an adult 😂.

@@JMDAmigaMusic Most spanish games were hard to the point of being stupid, and usually because they were badly done. It wasn't "Challenging hard", it was "This is really badly made challenging" In the other hand, IIRC, the last game made by Zeus Software on the Spectrum was Astro Marine Corps, which was actually... pretty easy. And Risky Woods had some really weird quirks (Like the "swap time for energy" stuff, but while hard, I think it was a fair game.

I was 7 or 8 too, I am 38 now and I just beat the game... took me 30 years lol. And only because I challenged myself, but eventually I beat it with 4 lives left, game me sweat and it is unfair at times, but I still think it's a great game.

Graphically beautiful ! Just imagine it's from '92. Great game, one of best platformers for Amiga.

Not quite at the level of Jim Power but probably much more fun, and the colour is better locally as well, not just across the whole screen. Used better too I suppose rather than the rainbow splash of Jim Power.
@AutoFirePad3 жыл бұрын
@@bangerbangerbro Jim Power makes a better use of parallax and feels more fluid. And of course, Risky Woods music wasn't made by Chris Huelsbeck. JP was hard as hell, sometimes frustrating but rewarding. (500 hours of play maybe, XD)

This has a definite 'Gods' vibe. The way the coins bounce, the mini mushroom clouds when enemies die, mechanically very similar. The levels are a lot more linear though. The never-ending waves of enemies clearly add to the dificulty!

The whole time vs health mechanic is still one of the most innovative ways to deal with both in terms of management and giving the player choices in a 2d platformer.

The version I had of this didn't have any music. It's a little jarring to see this version because the game seems so much darker and freakier without the music.

Best to kill them while they're off-screen - they have a nasty habit of shooting projectiles in a path that makes them almost impossible to duck or jump, at least without backtracking.

Had this back in the day, must admit I didn't like it and barely played it. I loved the title screen music though, incredible and still is. I used to just fire this game up purely to listen to it and not even bother playing it. I'm glad you let it sit on the title screen so others can hear it. Just looked at the Mega Drive version of this and the music is crap.

The best game on the Amiga BY FAR. If it was on the mini, I would have bought it by now. The Genesis/Megadrive version has a few changes. The music is better in the Genesis version, but the colors are better in this version The game is more fluid in the genesis version, and it has better background scrolling, but for the fact that this is the definitive version, makes it the best version.

Though the graphics where colorful, they also where too monotonous. The music was very uninspired and boring, and the gameplay was no fun at all. Also the primitive level design (just left to right) wasn't any fun to me, since already the later 80s. I never could understand what people liked about such games, when there already where much more advanced games before. What I disliked most was that you had to kneel down for collecting the coins, what made you miss even more of them.
@convexcornet21695 ай бұрын
This is one of the few games on the amiga that were stable enough, had good graphics, and ran at 50 frames per second. Coin collecting skill can be improved with practice.
