Listen guys, an 80-100 LB good quality bag is good enough. Don’t get like cheap bag where the weight drops down. Also I have no idea why guys want super heavy bags; you are not gonna become George foreman by pushing a 200 LB bag.

which one to get an 80lbs or 100 lbs? 5ft or 6ft to hung it in my 8ft ceiling garage? I will be using it for boxing and muay thai too. I already have a 45lbs round water uppercut bag and a double end bag too..I used to fight in muay thai and also did some boxing while I was still competing in wrestling. Now I just wrestle but like to hit the bags still:) Been looking at the teardroo bags too but I think I can get more out of a full bag, what do you think?? My dad will be using it for cardio too

@GreatVampireSquid21
@GreatVampireSquid21 10 жыл бұрын
***** Power starts with proper technique. I agree hitting a heavy bag strengthens your bones in your hand but constant abuse will cause hand problems (that's why pros wear 14-16 oz gloves when hitting the heavy bag). If what your saying was the primary reason for using a heavy bag the majority would be filled with sand.

Picking a bag is simple. The RULE, not a suggestion, from sports doctors is that the bag weight no more than half your body weight. A heavy bag will destroy your joints at half your weight alone the same or more so you NEVER use one more than that.

the heavier the bag the less it give offering you a studier target to work on your power shots and strength without it moving too much, where as a lighter bag is the more give to it requiring better technique to hit effectively and easier on your hands
@KaptainCanuck
@KaptainCanuck 5 жыл бұрын
As I posted above, a bad must NEVER weight more than half your body weight since it would destroy your joints in your wrist if you do hit one equal to your weight. You could reduce your hitting power on a heavier bag but then why pull your punches when a half weight bad will give you the same thing.

It can anything can break from weights like one time I heard a 200 ton rock fell on the highway and smashed the highway underneath it weight but the rock was covering it but it did crush the highway road underneath quite fast cause that is heavier then a lorry for an example when you use a hammer you push down you adding more weight to it to destroy ory that object if that object can’t break it means you need a heavier hammer or a another object back to 200 ton they had to reconstruct the highway but first of all when they used their lifting machine their machine got destroyed and crushed even the strongest crane was trying to lift it but it got destroyed too and collapsed the only way for this they had to move the highway and make sure what you choosing it won’t be too heavy or otherwise you end up celing crashing down and getting destroyed by it so be very carefull

Julian Jackson, Earnie Shavers, Geroge Foreman, Mike Tyson were all renowned for their brutal power, and they all worked the heavy bag more than usual. It develops power big time! Of course there are many other factors which make big punchers, but working the heavy bag a lot is one of them.

I know this comment is old, but yeah generally. My grandfather would put bags to guys, never the opposite. You treat bags like opponents. You wouldn't put someone who is inexperienced, and only 110 against someone who is 200 and experienced. Same thing for bags, if the bag serves for high technique, and weight give it to fighters who meet that.
