Welcome to my full walkthrough of "Riven: The Sequel to Myst," a captivating puzzle-solving, point-and-click, first-person exploration game developed by Cyan. In this "amnesia run," I'm playing the new real-time, fully-3D remake, released on June 25, 2024. This version features stunning updated graphics, improved controls, enhanced puzzles, and VR support.
Continuing the story from 1993's "Myst," I once again control "the Stranger," who must assist Atrus, an artisan and explorer, in rescuing his wife Catherine from the clutches of Gehn, Atrus's manipulative father and ruler of Riven: a beautiful world of interconnected islands. To save Catherine and return safely, I'll need to unravel the intricate mysteries of Riven, learn about its inhabitants, and confront the power-hungry Gehn. Who's telling the truth? What does that switch do? How do I open this door? Join me on this let's play to uncover all the answers!
Originally released by Cyan on October 31, 1997, "Riven" garnered critical acclaim and became the best-selling game of the year. Unlike its predecessor, this follow-up offers a more directionless approach to its puzzles and storytelling, but rewards with its expansive world building, deep lore, and gorgeous design. It's a game that has captivated me since I first played it 27 years ago, and I’m thrilled to dive into this modern remake and share the adventure with you.

I've been enjoying this gameplay a lot Jon, thanks for sharing with us. I've also played this new version of Riven after watching your first two videos and was able to complete it, I did not the 1997 version though, I have it on the Sega Saturn but never finished it. One thing about the Star Fissure was puzzle that stumped you but that I actually got it right away was the translation of the number symbols. I saw you were trying to calculate the moiety numbers, adding the little symbols or multiplying them, but what happened to me was that when I saw those symbols I remembered the totems in the islands, you actually rotated them to find the correct position so, from there I figured you would also rotate what few symbols you had in that paper and make sense of it. Hoping to see more of this type of games! Thank you Jon.

Cyan taking over probably got money saved money for that star team thing thst started it They also gave what got promised in their kickstarted They probably preferred this a lot more

I think one of my brother friends accidentally let Catherine out by joking/messing around and happened to brute strength that thing They were messing around and that one that happened to hit 5 times not thinking it would work but they liked that sound

@@ihartevil I'm pretty sure the code is randomized on every new game; actually. You're also not able to enter before trapping Gehn - even with the right combo.

@Jon maybe not that game then I thought it might be but might have been another one His friend decided to role play in a game where somebody was trapped and guessed the code and it was based upon liking the sound

@@Jon possible my brother's friend didn't click the alarm but saw it and brute strengthed because of that
