I met my wife in Flagstaff (1961) while attending ASC and was completely oblivious to the Santa Fe RR during the three years there. What a waste of good railroading. Now married 59 years.

My wife lived in Flagstaff for a short time about a half-mile from the Amtrak station and said that when the bigger trains passed through the area, you could feel the ground and walls shake.

Intermodal gets boring after a while, but they also make up most of the traffic on this line.

Ironically enough, I took a trip out west a few weeks ago…went to some of those places you stopped at, plus a few others…I went to the Flagstaff platform, plus went to Williams, AZ to see the Grand Canyon Railway…

I live about 10 mi south of the tracks outside winslow, about 200' higher in elevation and i can see the trains and hear their horns from my back porch. The traffic on i40 looks like ants to me.

3:02 Almost sounds like someone left the handbrake applied on 3695
@RiverLineProductions2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that unit was screaming
@slug96 Жыл бұрын
It's a bad turbo on the 3695. If it was a handbrake, alarm bells would be sounding in the lead locomotive cab whenever the reverser is moved from other than the neutral position.
@neffam3 Жыл бұрын
@@slug96 Makes sense. I didn't really think the handbrakes were left on, but it does kinda sound like dragging brakes to me. Probably just the traction motor blower or something.

So we are staying in Flagg staff this week! About how far do I need to travel to get some video of a crossing they actually blow at? Seems everything in Flaggstaff is a quiet zone
