I loved how a Bolt and its 55kW charging speeds came in looking to get in the action. They're the slow Hyenas of the EV world. Anytime they smell a new charging location they can clog up, they're there faster that the lion pride that made the kill.

haha I overheard someone say they were charging at 29kW speed. Not sure what their state of charge is. They can now charge at Tesla superchargers peaking at 50-ish kW. But hey, they are EVs too. I actually may consider a used one for my son once he starts driving. But I'll mainly charge it at home and clog up superchargers.

Nothing better than having a Bolt pull in front of you 10 seconds before you arrive at the last DCFC 350kw charger😂 Is there anything more frustrating when waiting at a traffic light to enter a completely empty charging station watching 4 other EV’s turn in ahead??

@@memyselfundeye I experience this often when going to EVgo and seeing Bolts and BZ4X charging at 350kW chargers when there are open 100kW chargers. Being able to charge at Tesla, I hardly go to EVgo or EA now. Just RAN and Tesla. It is frustrating

My neighbor recently went to Lytle Creek again. He said the trails are open. Would be cool to bring our R1Ts, Hummer EV, and Cybertruck. Been trying to plan something. There's also King of the Hammer in January. Should be in your area next month.

Putting chargers in the backs of stores is so crazy. It's technically paid parking, should be right by the front doors.

I think location is fine. You spend time walking to the stores and walk back which reduces wait time while charging. Many people don't like EVs already and having them park next to handicap parking may bring more unwanted attention. I have noticed some places have the slow 6kW (sometimes free) charging in the front of the stores. I see them at Top Golf and Wholefoods locations. So there are some chargers closer to the stores.

Someone, anyone, PLEASE try charging a Fisker Ocean on one. These things came live the same day i was in portland and staying at a hotel 50 yards away from a RAN station. Only problem was that they opened up to everyone AFTER I had already checked out😅

As of today, there are only 3 locations of RAN that are open to all EVs. These are v1.5 chargers. They would have to do a hardware upgrade to existing chargers to make them work. But it looks like moving forward, new locations will be compatible. x.com/RivianTrackr/status/1866666671068291498

I wonder if the Audi had an issue with the charger, it only dispensed 6kWh before the session stopped.

It was weird. I thought they had set their charge limit and reached it not realizing it. Their app should have notified the owner - but I'm not familiar with the Audi app.

@sherwinm the Audi app only notifies if a charge limit is reached but not if charging is stopped otherwise.

.60 per kw for non rivian is highway robbery....that's more than gas

In California, these rates are "normal". Rivian is actually fairly low ranging from .35 - 47 cents per kW. Tesla in some areas cost .39 cents all day. But peak hours can get as high as .67 cents. EA and EVgo are fairly expensive as well unless you pay their monthly subscription to unlock a discounted rate. Gas in California currently float between $4-5 per gallon and in some areas even higher.
