I had only 2 issues with the film.. the effortless yo-yo tomahawk was fun so I give it a pass.. my other issue being that the Comanche were famous for their skills on horseback and it would have been really really cool to see more of that!! The rest of the film is a 10/10 for me tho and as a lifelong fan of all things Preddy.. this was like being 13 again... The score/pacing/acting/atmosphere were perfect.. this film was a serious flex 🤘🏻

Amidst everything else that was going on, I really do love the loving relationship between the siblings. How Taabe always supported and defended his sister and how the first time we didn't see Naru run from the predator was during her brother's last moments and Taabe had to yell at her twice for her to finally run away

Fun Fact: Sarii, the dog is a rescue named Coco from the Atlanta-area. She had no prior onscreen experience so sometimes hitting her mark or doing what they needed her to do was hit or miss. The director showed initial clips to friends and family and they loved the dog so he expanded her role. They said whenever she did what she needed them to do in the scene, they'd cheer afterward.

I'm still with the original and I tell you why. I saw it in the theater and no one knew what a Predator was. It was awesome to see it for the first time and that experience amazing. The only way to replicate that experience is to time travel back to the 80s. But this movie was AWESOME!

I am totally with you. I will always have respect for the king but this movie really did it for me. I came for Predator but stayed for Naru and Amber Midthunder. There is something that truly portrays her as a strong character, felt it the very first time i watched the movie. She is easily up there with Ellen Ripley, Dutch and Sarah Connor for me. Not to mention every other great aspect of this movie from cinematography, story telling through visuals rather than dialogue and so much more.

I think PREY is superior to the Original PREDATOR in almost every way. Just as you say- I relate and care more for Naru, Taabe, and Sarii (dog) than anyone from the original. I loved all of the native stuff in the beginning, it was captivating. The fights were better, more brutal in Prey. the final Takedown was earned and cleaver. When she does her "warcry" after she won, it gave me chills. Taabe was awesome. I loved everything about this film. the cinematography and the score were amazing. I think the Comanche version is even better.

YES!!! I watched this yesterday with my dad and we loved it! The movie premiered at San Diego Comic Con and the audience loved it! They gave it a 10 minute standing ovation. Dakota Beavers, one of the actors, said in an interview that he was happy to see Native Americans being represented in a more positive light instead of seeing them as the villain in the story.

I like how they did Prey. They made a early version of Predator other then the ironic Heat vision and lasers. Everything else was slightly Primitive. The showcase of the food chain thought-out the whole movie was nice. and that he doesn't go for "bait" or weaker species it why she was allowed to escape down river. To him she was weak till she Axe him in the chest. All new gadgets other then the ironic net.

Just watched this film today and loved it. Even though Naru's combat prowess is a bit overdone, the film takes pains to show that her real strength is her intelligence. A number of times she runs away and avoids direct combat with the Predator, it's not cowardice, it's because she knows the outcome is death unless she came up with additional resources or knowledge. She came up with the right plan to hunt the lion, and she figured out things during the course of the film like the medicine lowering body temperature and making her difficult for the Predator to see, and she was able to figure out that the targeting system from the helmet was a critical tool, both for the Predator but as something she could use against it..

It is clear that her brother is a bit better in combat in strength than her (which makes sense because he is bigger and older than her), so it's not like she is an OP Mary Sue or that she is stronger than all the other male hunters. And we only see Naru fight once before she dominates that settlement. Or maybe this is just me wishing this movie was 30 minutes longer because this world was so beautiful and I want to see them live in it some more.

This film really impressed me! I love it. It would've been great in a theater. I want more from this era and preferably the same hero. Her brother got him--then she brought it home. This was 1719. The French & Indian War started in 1754. That pistol she had was a trophy in Predator 2. How did it get into the Predators' hands? She still had it at the end of Prey! We need to see that in the next movie, don't we, how they get it away from her?

This is almost 100 years prior to the French Indian War. That was 1812. 1719 was the height of the North American Fur Trade.

We probably won't see the pirate story because in the comics Raphael Adolini gave Greyback the pistol in 1718 and Greyback leaves him his weapon but in the movie Raphael gives Naru the pistol. So most likely the predators take the feral predators body and the pistol and leave them a weapon that belonged to the feral just like in AVP with Scar & Lex.

I love this movie because the predator isn‘t „untouchable“. For sure it murders everything but still. The bear giving him a really good maul and run for his money, the wolf getting a good ol‘ bite on him (RIP my boy, you went down like a gladiator), her brother giving him a seveare whooping etc. He was more primitive then the others while still being a huge threat!

Obviously there's going to be a part 2 from the moving paintings at the end... But yeah what she gives the chief is also in predator 2 same exact item even the name and year... So it ain't over , this is probably my favorite predator movie so far I love them all pretty equally... Also this predator is considered a young blood Feral And somewhat inexperienced over the years it earns its weapons as a level up... If you ever seen alien versus predator Requiem that predator is pretty high up on the hierarchy he's a cleaner sent to cleanup mistakes.. DUDES!!! Evolution is the theme of the story and the time it was set was great for the weapons that was available for the era. You can't assume that Predators were already advanced, they do hunt the best and learn to adjust. If someone thinks this is a bad movie then they really don't understand sci-fi story telling. This is not a documentary, it's a sci-fi story told in a way that Predator can evolve. I've seen some people call her a "Bitch", I pray they can adapt to non-fiction stories.

In Lakota society, there were a number of berdache men who played the female role, not many women went hunting (too busy cleaning up the kill and making leather). But I like the concept anyway. Rabbits are easiest to kill, you can literally chase them until they die of a heart attack. Predator in any era is overpowered ... alien plot armor. The Natives kill the Predator, find his spacecraft, reverse engineer it, and reverse conquer the planet ;-)

If you watch the credit roll, there is a cave painting story told of the the Predators clan coming down to congratulate her and the victory. Just like in predator 2 when the Predator clan chief gave Dany Glover the pistol at the end. The same pistol Naru got from the Frenchman in this movie. Great tie ins and easter eggs

At the 40:00 mark, I love Naru's victory cry when she won. I think the bog-mud on the Predator fooled the laser sight on his lost helmet. It allowed the shot to hit him in the head. Otherwise, it would not have targeted him.

One of the elements that struck me most was the reaction of the Comanche people to the Predator's existence. For the modern day people, they are shocked because the Predator's existence proves that aliens are real. For Naru and her people, there is no existential crisis from a paradigm altering revelation. Naru and the hunters simply accepted that the Predator was, simple as that.

This movie was fantastic , loved pretty much everything about it the cinematography is amazing such great use of the beautiful landscape, the acting was top class loved Amber in this role she kicked ass , Dakota Beavers as Taabe was great too the other guys were a bit clichéd dickhead characters and Doggo was cute too . The Predator rampaging through the Fur Trappers is an awesome scene so well choreographed, another special mention is the score by Sarah Schachner is so amazing so emotional and atmospheric and really compliments the movie . The only negative I would say and it is a very minor point is the use of modern terms like Bleed out etc seemed out of place . I really feel that returning the Predator to the jungle or forest environment if done right can be so creepy and atmospheric and works much better than having him in a city or small town . A few days after watching Prey I finally got round to watching the previous film The Predator I had heard very bad things about it and went in wanting to see if it is as bad as everyone says and yes it really is that bad so quite literally from the Sublime of Prey to the ridiculous of The Predator. Well done to Dan Tractenberg and everyone involved for giving us such an amazing film

At 17 minutes or so, you posed the thought that this was the first Predator to land on Earth. In the first Alien/Predator movie, it indicated that the Predators were on Earth at least before the last ice age since the pyramid that had the aliens was buried under ice but the video images shown in the movie indicated that the pyramid was ice free and there were people.

I just watched and enjoyed watching your reactions. Lol hilarious. I just dropped in to remind you guys that as far as the predator being hurt etc, so she beat him at a low point. I agree, but that is the message her brother was giving her, he said she weakened the lion and he finished and brought it home. Also notice that the predator became the prey like the beatened up bear did, like the savage wolf did, etc, remember those predators had fought, that bear was tore up, it was why they did not back down. They may not have been at full compactly either, the bear had been shot by an arrow from Nahru, the lion had been speared by her. So it was a comparable much like they did thru out the film. They mimicked each other actually, first hunts, not quite a part of the tribe yet, learn from watching, etc etc. It was like they were both teenagers. Enjoyed ya.

what the Alien franchise needs is a canon timeline of Weyland-Yutani to build on - a movie or series devoted to the future corporate wars - how the original 2 companies rose to power and then merged. All takes place safe on Earth - with any alien incursions played back through body-cams.

Taabe was Sucha cool character and war chief.. I mean the predator wanted a fight he got to meet the beat of them as u guys said Taabe had him! At least in the fight he might not have succeeded on killing the predator but he at least won the "fight"

this movie is about a rite of passage, as well as the Predators first encounter with humans again. every tribe back then also traditionally had a rite of passage that everyone had to go through. i mean they HAD to go through it. if you didn't go through a rite of passage back then, you were either not considered a part of the tribe, or you were considered weak. you had to prove yourself to your chief & your tribe. this was also based in time when there was no country established yet in North & South America. the French were one of the countries that sailed across the sea into the North America in order to hunt animals only for their pelts/hides that they can sell. this movie is also based before the French & Indian War. during the French & Indian War, French military were the ones who traveled around North America. not fur trappers. leaving carcasses was never heard of during that time because all Native American tribes used everything on the animals that they hunted. nothing was wasted. Native Americans during that time also did not speak English. that was just added to the movie plot so people can understand it (there is also a Comamche dub of the movie, & Hulu has accurate English subtitles). Native American tribes have their own languages & cultures, & this tribe is the Comanche tribe. "Thunderbird" is a giant bird that is considered a holy being, or like a deity. many tribes have asscoiation with the Thunderbird, & it is in many ceremonies & folklore. so Thunderbirds are very sacred. animals are also considered holy beings or deities in many Native American beliefs. in fact, many tribes have a great respect for animals, & they have strict teachings & taboos for many animals. the bison/buffalo is one of those holy beings. Native Americans also used a lot of plants for many uses, including for medicine. the Navajo/Diné in fact know & utilize over 450 species of plants. it is called "ethnobotany". at the same time, you could also say the Predators are going through a rite of passage, as well. especially when their chiefs watch the Predators from above as they go along in their hunts. i am Native American from the Navajo/Diné tribe, & we have 2 rites of passage for males & females. they are however considered puberty ceremonies. the Navajo female rite of passage (it is called: kinaaldá) involves grinding corn/maize kernels into cornmeal with a grinding stone, & making a giant corn cake in the ground. & she has to do it all on her own. the female is also taught motherhood, & how to care & respect her body. the Navajo rite of passage for males is considered very sacred, so it is done in secret. it however involves teaching the male how to respect himself, & how to be strong & disciplined. if you have twins, more specifically a boy & a girl, then both twins go through both rites of passage. this goes back to one of the cultural beliefs of twins in the Navajo culture. it is a long explanation, so i'll just quickly say that twins are considered a great blessing & holy sign in the Navajo culture. you are truly blessed if you have twins, especially if they are twin boys. ahéheeʼ. that means "thank you" in Navajo/Diné. thank you for being respectful to the Comanche people & women. some people were very predjudice & sexist toward Native Americans & women when the trailer & movie came out. thank you for being respectful. 🙏🏽❤️

if Prey 2022 can redeem and bring back life to the predator franchise, I hope they do the same thing with "Terminator" with the same tension and suspense as "Prey" , bring back its horror roots like the original 1984 "The Terminator" , recent reboots and sequels made it too action heavy tbh.

Or both. We've seem different groups of Yautja and this is 300 years before Predator. It might make sense that he was given tools that were appropriate for this hunting grounds, since more advanced equipment would be a cheap kill. (He's got camouflage that exceeds, but that might also be a safety measure to avoid capture.)

Awesome review 👍👍 ...... this movie was crazy good , I really liked the scenery that the movie is in and i liked the diff scenes of diff predators killing there prey which plays on the title of the movie ......i like naru character it's almost like she was going thro self doubt of her own capabilities and her brother knew that she's capable of much more Her brother is a straight up G tho , i believe if the pred didn't use his cloaking taabe would've killed him eventually because taabe was too fast for the pred to hit him I think other preds came down before in the past because naru brother tells her along the lines ( you want to hunt something that's hunting you ),so i think the Comanche must've dealt with a pred before or they heard other tribes dealing with it .......the director and his team did great on this movie and i hope they make another predator movie , judging by the drawings during the credits it looks like they might make another one when the drawings show multiple pred ships ......if im right about what I'm thinking i think that gun that naru has its connected to the Predator 2 movie with Danny Glover when he gets that same exact gun as a trophy for killing the predator which tells me something must've happened to naru and the rest of her Comanche tribe

Great reaction video. However I can't believe you guys missed the HUGE Easter egg to P2 which was the flintlock pistol. This was the same flintlock, due to the signature engraving, that was presented to Danny Glover in P2. Of course this brings up an important question.. How did the Predators end up with the flintlock?

This is a very well made movie, I enjoyed 99% of the movie. My only complaint, is that they made the young bucks incompetent, and made sure she was always much better than them. Also she was never a real threat, so she was able to observe the Predator's actions. The pistol she tossed to the chief was the same one given to Danny Glover in #2.

I loved how the predator was shown to fight on (relatively) even terms. He went to hand to hand against all animals, even the bear which he could have easily killed with his bolt/arrow gun. Only after the natives used a bow to shoot the possum did the predator use his arrows. And he only used it against the guy who shot the possum. When Naru got stuck in the trap he ignored her. Like mentioned in react it wasn’t his trap. No honor in the kill. (And do predators even use traps at all?). The movie was awesome and really showed the predator for what they are. Mean, killing machines with a code of honor. A much needed win for a franchise which, lets be honest, has been getting a rep for being cheezy, rather low budget B-movies. Will be interesting to see where they take it from here. Ps. The flintlock pistol she brings back to the tribe is that the same gun the predators offer the humans in Predator 2? (I belive it was in the second where they gave a gun to show they have been on Earth for centuries).

The way the predator killed her brother same way the og pred killed billy. He was working predator then he had to cloak and killed billy by stabbing his back
