Tony Martin was the only member to ever properly acknowledge Geoff Nicholls. There's a reason when TM went solo, Geoff joined him. I never liked that he was credited as a session member on their albums, because he was as much of a backbone to the band as Tony was. R.I.P.

This song, "Kill in the Spirit World", and "Call of the Wild". Iommi seemed to be at his peak with this album and TYR. I'll be 60 in February; been listening to them since 15. "War Pigs", "Into the Void", and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", have worn off to some degree because of time.

The era that I like the less of Sabbath is Ian Gillan, though I really appreciate all eras, and despite loving the classics with Ozzy and Dio, I would argue that this song's introduction and The Sign of The Southern Cross is the one which give me more chills. This surely is one of my favourites songs as well. You're damn right. And the intro of this version is by far the best I've listened.

The only thing that makes me sad is seeing that in 1990 he already couldn't sing the high notes of this song, although I saw a performance a video of he performing this song in 2008, and was pretty good despite his age.

@Thalys7563 жыл бұрын
Especialmente no show de Manchester e Nova York.

@Thalys756 Жыл бұрын
The Sign of The Southern Cross por exemplo, é uma delas.
@nanomoura9389 Жыл бұрын

It was mainly because those albums were not promoted properly by their label at that time. Iommi even mentioned it when Sabbath were touring Toronto during their 'Headless Cross' period and being shocked (AND STEAMED) at discovering that most major music retailers in the area didn't even have the album in stock at the time of release! Sad, that one and its follow-up 'Tyr' should've been automatic platinum-sellers too. Even 'Cross Purposes' should've gone gold at least, that one was easily the best Tony Martin-era Sabbath album of the 90s... >;-)

The fact that Tony Iommi spent over a decade trying to replace RJD and not Ozzy says all you need to know about who he thought was the better Sabbath singer. If they were managed by Don Arden, Sharon Osbourne's dad during the Martin years it would go a long way to explain the lack of promotion.

Tony & Ronnie aren’t even in the same vocal range some comparing chalk with cheese is quite strange. Yes he can sing Dio, Ozzy & Hughes Sabbath song, but his voice sounds nothing like any of theirs. Now had you said say Ray Gillen there may have been a case because when he came in to re-record the Eternal Idol album he sounded more like Ray than any other Sabbath vocalist. Also, why would people discuss Geezer in the comments of a video he doesn’t feature in? Why would anyone disrespect Geezer anyway? Tony Martin has said in recent interviews how great Geezer is, Dio called him with best rock/metal bass player in the world & is regularly picked in top bass players polls. If someone comments that they prefer say Neil then that’s their opinion and they are entitled to it just as you are to yours. I still find it a stretch to say Tony is a rip off of Dio considering they sing in differ t keys, I guess if you remove the different keys then Michael Jackson is a rip off of Barry White 🤷🏻♂️
