What's funny is I have been using this throttle quadrant at home and love it, but yesterday jumped in the Piper Lance to fly to Dallas and it has this exact autopilot and it took me a minute not to try to be reaching for my bravo quadrant. But yes in our real plane it is pretty close to the Bravo. The blue level button is also really cool. It's never clear to me how to arm something vs engage something. You pushed the altitude hold button to immediately engage altitude hold, you also armed the glide slope. How do you arm the aforementioned without engaging them?
@RMAG Жыл бұрын
Some modes are instant engagement, some are armed some can be both depending on the situation. For example, Alt Hold is always instant if you press the button. So is HDG. VS and IAS is instant. Armed things are typically armed because you are not “there yet”. For example, you set an Altitude Preselect which is an altitude you are not at. You use a mode to ascend or descend to that altitude (IAS, VS, or PIT). Now Alt Hold is Armed. It won’t hold at the preselected altitude until you actually arrive at the altitude. NAV button can be either. If you are going direct to a Waypoint and you hit the NAV button, it will instantly enter GPS mode and take you to the waypoint, however, if you are on a heading, and you are going to intercept a leg of a flight plan and you hit NAV mode, GPS will be armed because you’re not actually on the GPS course yet. Same applies to APR mode. If you hit APR before you are on the approach, it will be armed. If you hit APR while on the approach the lateral portion would typically immediately engage, but the vertical portion is typically armed and needs to be intercepted. So basically, you just need to understand what you are doing when you put the auto pilot in a certain mode. Is it a present command or are you setting up for the future? That is the basic difference between immediate engagement versus arming.
@FryChicken Жыл бұрын

Should it be on all the time the AP is engaged up until approach mode?
@RMAG4 жыл бұрын
You want to make sure you bind the switch to SET PARKING BRAKE, not TOGGLE PARKING BRAKES. The Sim normally starts with the parking brake engaged, so if you start with the switch in the off position you may need to flip it to on then back off the first time you use it. A Yaw Damper is not to be used during takeoff or landing.

There is a well known bug that makes the adjustments x10. Heading bug moves 10° too. Asobo needs to fix it. What I do is use the real knob for macro changes and the virtual knob for micro changes.
@georgesiebes4 жыл бұрын
@@RMAG Yes, quite a strange "feature". If you ask me, this "bug" is too big to go unattended for so long, in other words, it's intentional. I guess we all use the 10 degree heading bug increments and hit the HDG-set-to-current when we hit the right single digit heading. Thoughts?
@RMAG4 жыл бұрын
@@georgesiebes in some respects I like the larger adjustments. With my game when first loads in, it has the small adjustments, but it reverts to the large adjustments as soon as I hit ESC and bring up the menu. It’s A LOT of twisting to turn 180° or to set an IAS by 1’s instead of 10’s. With Altitude it’s normally thousands or maybe thousands plus 500. If I’m looking for a specific altitude I’ll set for the nearest 1,000 past the target and just hit ALT at my target. The knobs are workable. I would prefer a switch so we could toggle between large or small adjustments.
@kevykevTPA4 жыл бұрын
@@RMAG Could one of the programmable buttons be set to do that? I think a better solution would be to base it on speed, and I'd hate to waste a button on that, but it might at least be an interim fix until someone figures out the speed idea, or something I haven't thought of. A push button knob would be best, but that's not something that can be fixed with programming or firmware, it either exists or it doesn't.

@@RMAG Thanks for sharing your workaround! Yes, I have unbound the toggle switches for now, as well as the selector knob (on the left). My workaround to use the plus/minus knob (right one) of the autopilot is that I have bound the AP mode buttons to two functions. E.g.: HDG enables the heading mode, and also selects the heading bug. Then I can use the plus/minus knob to turn the heading bug. It needs a bit of getting used to. One more thing, how do you use the virtual knob for micro changes? Try again using TDM Daher 900, HC Alpha dial set to Both with latest patch from yesterday. I feel so happy to finally use the auto-pilot features in the Bravo with all the lights functioning!

Update was able to get some of Auto Pilot to work, the altitude and heading. Vs, nav, and Ias will not work. Also do you know what setting need to use to keep engines running. Engines start and run until starter switch is moved to both, then kill and will not do anything to restart. Have to shut down FS2020 and restart FS2020. Also when tried to set start switch on Yoke, it brings up switches on the throttle quadrant, switches 35 and 34. Any ideas on what is happening and how to correct. Tried to set back to default, but did not help.

Rma can you help me troubleshoot a problem with my TBM 930 AUTOPILOT ILS ISSUE? the autopilot ILS approach mode does not engage, when I press the approach bottom on your quadrant the plane is at a 45-degree angle and when intercept the correct final heading on the ILS approach mode the heading light stays on it does not switch to approach mode and the continues straight it does not intercept the final course and also does not intercept the glide slop it does not switch to approach also it does not intercept the localizer I trouble to troubleshot this problem by disconnecting the Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant and honeycomb joke and switched back to my old joke and it worked fine I just purchased the joke and the quadrant please help I am a commercial pilot and I am very annoyed by this thanks in advance for your help Capitan tony

Tony: Looks like another bug. When in HDG mode it will not intercept the Localizer or GPS horizontal nav on an RNAV approach. I found that if right before the Localizer intercept, if you tap "NAV" it will capture the Localizer. Then re-engage the APR mode and the Glideslope captures okay. Yeah its not exactly right, but you get it to work. I am using the Garmin G1000 NXi update. I did not try on the original G1000 mode.

Which setting did you use to bind the CRS bug for VOR? I cant figure out from all the available settings for Autopilot
@RMAG3 жыл бұрын
CRS knob is Button 18 bound to "VOR OBS" The decrease/increase knob is button 14 & button 13 is bound to "PLUS" and "MINUS"

@Rmag Did you have any issues mapping your Yaw Damper. I followed your setup the same way but the YD doesnt work in any plane. I think theres a conflict I can't find.

Sounds like it was a bug in FS2020, and was just fixed in the update that was just released

How did you switch from heading (pink line) to Nav course (green line)?
@RMAG3 жыл бұрын
Heading is not pink line. Magenta and Green are both NAV sources. Magenta is GPS, Green is VOR/ILS. Toggle CDI.

Where do you buy and what is the name of the selector above the honeycomb?
@RMAG3 жыл бұрын
The selector I had above the Honeycomb is a real autopilot control head I used for comparison.

Have you tried this with CJ4? It seems if i click autopilot like Nav mode it wont follow the course. And if i click nav mode on screen the heading light lights up on bravo panel. It seems the heading and nav buttons on bravo is not working or synchronize with the cj4?
@RMAG4 жыл бұрын
HDG and NAV worked for me. FLC/IAS was the only thing that appeared not to work for me.
@donchichi88554 жыл бұрын
@@RMAG really? that's on CJ4 right? mine is broken. how did you fix it or what is your button config? everytime I push NAV it will light up but wont activate. I need to press it manually on screen.

What are you using to maintain a certain speed?
@RMAG4 жыл бұрын
If your talking about in a climb or descent and you want a certain airspeed, it’s IAS mode. In straight and level flight it’s just a throttle setting.

Any idea on how to switch the altitude from 1,000s of feet to 100s of feet while spinning the right knob?
@RMAG4 жыл бұрын
It’s a well-known bug. You can get around it with a third-party program for the keybinds, or just wait for Asobo to fix this.

Great tutorial, thank you for sharing your knowledge! I have a question a little off topic.. what type of label maker or method did you use to print the label above the rocker switches? Thanks again!
It doesn't look like your LEDs are working did you download the patch from the honeycomb website .

That's another awesome video! You definitely deserve more subscribers.. My unit should get here in few days but from what I can see there is no back illumination on those Auto Panel buttons so basically you can't really see what is engaged at a given time unless you take a look at the 3d cockpit... I am bit disappointed by this and maybe I'll keep my Saitek unit for Autopilot features
@RMAG4 жыл бұрын
There is drivers out there from Aerosoft that will enable the lights if you don’t want to wait. There are some KZbin videos on how to do it. However the Honeycomb website said the lights will be enabled in MSFS in a future update so I am just waiting for that so I don’t cause any conflicts. I look at my in game annunciators to see what is active.

Actually Honeycomb just posted the drivers on their website. So installed them now.
