#conservationdoneright If literally anybody cares about elk as a species, they need to be members of RMEF. Congratulations to Skipper! He’s a hell of a great dude! RMEF & Leupold are the best. THE BEST!

Well, everyone gets an opinion. I disagree, RMEF doesn't spend enough money on public land for me, I donate to other organizations. Private land owners have enough already and rarely let us hunt on their land without paying thousands. No thanks. Seems RMEF and rich land owners are in bed together.

I was in a similar situation this year. OTC public land hunt, I was fortunate enough to take a younger 4x4 bull the last hour of the last day of the hunt. It was my first Elk on my first Elk hunt. It's funny though, just being in the woods for a week and experiencing the rain, snow and sunny weather and seeing so much wildlife would have been enough for the week. Taking the bull was just icing on the cake. Safe to say I caught the bug, I can't wait for next year!

My first elk hunt was in NM. It was 1997 and the next year I moved to VA. I harvested a nice mature cow and I was bitten by the experience and the high quality meat. I have taken several more elk over the years and will chase them in the woods every chance I get.

I got a cow at the buzzer last year after not getting a shot at a bull with my Colorado Ranching for Wildlife tag last year. Best meat I've ever had!
