Hi everyone, my name is Pat and I am a registered nurse currently in my first year of Medical School. Here to share my journey and my path to medical school with a goal of educating and encouraging as many people as possible.
Ultimately I want to make the transition of RN to MD/DO more common, accessible and encouraged. I look forward to doing my part in helping others find their passions and achieve their goals.

Hey Pat, Thanks so much for this video. I'm currently a PICU nurse (new grad), and med-school has been on my mind since I started working on my unit. I also enjoy and find myself "studying" systems and diseases when I'm not at work. I know you're probably busy with med school, but I was wondering if you have any tips on where exactly how to start? And how do you approach professors/physicians for a letter of recommendation? Thanks for making a channel that's aiding the way for non-traditional medical students (specifically for nurses) to pursue medicine!

Hi Joyce, that sounds a lot like where I was when I got out of school. I hope that my video on Prereqs helps a little and I am about to release a video on MCAT basics and how I did it. In the works is a video on how to foster relationships with physicians and I will definitely be doing a video soon on my whole application and I will go over letters of Rec. Right now I would focus on becoming great ICU nurse. Start to build relationships with the physicians around you. Start researching a few med schools and get an idea of what they are looking for. Start looking into options for starting the prerequisites and maybe shoot for next fall to start - but that is up to you. MCAT will follow, you could watch my video to get a rundown of it but I wouldn't worry about it toooo much right now.

Hey, man. Super excited about this channel, and I hope to really watch it grow over time. Wanted to come back to this first video to let you know that your update video is marked “for kids.” I absolutely hate the way that KZbin words that question, but I would suggest switching the answer to no. Just because something is family friendly doesn’t mean that it’s “for kids.” Marking it with that status takes away the comment option and it suppresses the video for your targeted demographic. This channel is “for” older teens/adults. Marking it as “for kids” means it will reach a lot less people….People who would love your content and love to follow your journey.😇

My man, I fixed it. Thank you so much. I appreciate you looking out for me. It was definitely stupidly worded. Thank you for the kind words. I look forward to sharing my story and helping anyone who wants to get there. Again, Thank you brother

Hi Jennifer! that means so much I really do appreciate it. I am in the process of making some more videos right now! It is definitely more time consuming than I thought and I think I am trying to make them too perfect so I have to be a little easier on myself. My next video will be out soon. I look forward to sharing my journey with you and everyone else. Thank you:)

Hi Crystal! I hope that school has been treating you well! I know that nursing school was pretty challenging for me. The best think you can do right now is finish strong! especially if medicine is what you want!! I hope my next few videos on the MCAT and prerequisites will eventually help you over the next few years as you work towards your goals. I have a few more videos coming but would love to make one more focused on current nursing students. Is there any specific topics you would find most useful to hear about right now? And please reach out to me if I can help you in any way!! keep working

Hi man, I found your video to be very uplifting. I am currently a BSN student (one more year!) and plan to make the transition to med school after graduating (hope to apply the summer after I graduate). I would love to have some advice on extracurriculars/volunteering if you have any to share! -Thanks, Logan

Hey Logan! hope you are doing well and really happy to hear from you. Sorry for my lack of videos, I have every intention and plan to keep this channel going. I have filmed a few but they weren't to the level I liked and then I let myself get busy with school. About to finish up a block and then will get back to it. I was lucky to have a lot of volunteering and service through college so I was able to really focus on work, school and MCAT throughout my time as a nurse. I would say do service you are interested in. Theres a time and place to check a box but when your schedule is already jam packed - do service that excites you. An example would be: I made balloon animals at a local carnival which was service but also allowed me to use one of my skills. definitely plan to work through my application. Stay Well Logan

Thank you for responding! Did you travel nurse while taking your pre reqs? I wanted to start taking classes this summer but I’m also considering travel nur$$$ing to save up for medical school. Did u work full time while taking those classes and are u still working while in med school?

@@osazeenorense2383 Hey! again sorry I have been so absent, just finishing up a block then plan on getting back into it! I did travel nurse for a while wile taking classes but after I had taken the MCAT so I wasn't super busy. I eventually got in while finishing up a class. Money is great and sometimes the most important thing to think about but if you spend all your time working and can't take classes and study for the MCAT it can easily become a delay and push off. Will discuss this further! take care Osaze
