@@jeffreiland7463 And vice versa. It's navigating a whole new world where women can actually make choices. Some men have decided that it's easier to get women by "negging" them, or ignoring them on purpose, or acting as if they themselves are the ones to be chased. Hence, we have a generation of boys and bros who think this is the way to go. Women aren't courted anymore, so they now make it just as transactional as the boys do and the boys don't like it.

Unfortunately, modern feminism is the reason. Today's men are too afraid to speak about women like that for fear of sounding sexist. To say someone is "my lady" offends a lot of women. That's why men don't hold doors for women as much as they used to for example.

This may be unpopular, but I think the reason men don’t sing about women this way anymore is because the avg American woman (can only speak for the county I live in) don’t treat their men the same anymore to deserve/ellicit a song like this. In america women are taught how their man should treat them, and men and taught how they should treat women. What’s been lost is how a woman should treat her man. There’s a reason so many men over here are going overseas to find this songs sort of love. Just my two cents. I’m sure people will hate it but oh well I’m just being honest.

I am forever amazed at the lack of ‘love’ in music these days. Especially from male artists. A romantic song is not something to hide or suppress. Yet … where is romance in our lives in general? You are such a pretty young lady and I'm glad you are listening to these great songs of yesteryear, and I love your appreciation for them. To answer your question, IMO, it started with the Women's Lib Movement of the 60s. A nice movement on the surface but turned many/some women into anger filled women who resented men holding them back and directed that anger at them in everyday life. So, I'm afraid to hold a door open for a woman less I be charged with insinuating a woman needs a man's strength because she is weak. That's a simplistic example but you get the idea. And just like the word "racism" is thrown around recklessly to get one's way, so too is the word "sexism". So, one has to be careful in choosing words because these kinds of women are hypersensitive and before you know it you are hit with "that's a sexist remark" and in the workplace today you end up in the HR department as a reprimand.
