Road Atlanta Hoosier Super Tour Spec Miata Race + Crash

After some bad luck with mechanical issues and a caution during my best flying lap, I qualified for this race in P8. Nothing to complain about, but I felt my pace was good enough to compete for the lead, so I knew I had to fight forward.
I could hear and feel something wrong on a front wheel early in the session, and I was struggling a little under braking into turn 10. Also obvious in the video is my clutch starting to fail, slipping very badly on upshifts. However when I found myself in 4th behind teammate Skyler Cottrell (who had been very quick), I convinced myself I could finish the race and maybe even hunt down Danny and Chuck in the lead. Then the wheel started vibrating coming out of turn 5 and….ouch.
Hitting the concrete backwards hurt pretty bad, but I had no injuries and the car is repairable. On to the next race!

Sorry about losing the wheel Skip... On a different note, the restart on this race was a complete joke. If I would have seen it during the protest period I would have 100000% thrown paper...

I thought the restart was fine, I was in the wrong gear and road atlanta naturally gives the lead cars an advantage on restarts if they play it right. The flagstand at pit entry mistakenly kept the double yellow up, which apparently also happened to SMX and led to some controversial penalties.

@@skipjrracing Per the rulebook, the lead car is supposed to maintain the pace car speed until the green. Chuck and Danny went full throttle in 10B. I was in 12th place and I could not go full throttle until I was coming down the hill. The advantaged gained by Chuck/Danny was entirely unfair. Our rules are not like Formula 1 or MX5 Cup where the leaders can just go way early. Maybe if they slowly got onto the gas and the whole field could go with them, then I wouldn't have a problem with it, but they went so early it caught a lot of people slacking. It gave them a clear advantage for the remainder of the 7 lap race.

@@SneakyMoose7 had no idea the SCCA restarts were different from every other racing series I'm aware of! Definitely something to watch for in the future...
