hey guys so far we're at 78% for Road Glide and 22% Street Glide.

Fast-Action Jax I see way more SGs on the road and in the dealerships. We just took a trip to Tennessee ( I live in eastern NC) so I took advantage of the trip to visit some HD dealership there, plus visiting the ones in my "neck of the woods" so-to-speak. Rge only Road Glides I see are brand new ones and not many of those. And talking to salesmen, the have all said the same thing, that in their experiance, the SG are mire popular than RG. But I'm 5'8" with an inseam about 28 and short arms. So you have given me some things to try out and consider when test riding.

I put about 400 miles on a Rental Road Glide and Street Glide over a weekend even though I was dead set on buying a street glide. This ride 100% changed my mind. At 5’9” the buffering was horrible on the SG and while a larger windshield would fix that... I don’t like the look of the taller ones. Also... four other things really stood out about the RG which I liked. The extra storage in the dash was great as I hate stuff in my pockets, the nav being on top makes it way easier and safer to look at, the gauges being farther away really helped with my 50 year old eyes, and the lower wind deflectors kept the wind from directly hitting my legs. My buddy ended up loving the SG and I loved the RG... so I’m really glad Harley makes both!

I got a street glide in Dec 2019 and I’m 6’0 and that wind does hit my helmet a lot. I did try the windshield 6.5 & 10” and no luck. I test drove the road glide and fell in love with it. Hopefully I can work a deal and trade in street glide for road glide.

For me it isn't coming over the top and doing it its coming around the tank. Put a lower wind deflector on it and the side ones to save you feom spending money on a new investment

I don’t understand everybody says RG is better but when your out riding you see way more SG than RG hummm I don’t get it but I’m a SG owner that’s probably why
@dawidos1175 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t decide between RKS, SGS and RGS 🤔 I’m 5’9” tall, 31” inseam, long arms. I would probably ride in full face helmet and I don’t really need infotainment system, but would be nice to have it. I don’t mind clear air blowing at me, but I wouldn’t like buffeting. So what would you recommend? I’m asking about opinions here, on KZbin, because I have really hard time to get a test ride where I’m at 🤷🏼♂️

For all you beard guys out there the Road Glide is the bike to have if you have a long-ass beard. On my street glide I have put the fork fangs and the wind deflectors on the Batwing fairing and my beard still blows around like crazy. Harley said that the new mail slot was going to stop the beard lift but that didn't do shit. The Road Glide is way more beard friendly. LOL

I always been a Street Glide guy I have a 14 Street Glide and love it. when I first saw the shark nose fairing I hated it I thought it was the ugliest thing I've ever seen. One of my buddies had a Road Glide and over time it grew on me and I started to like the look of it. I completely love the look of it now and that will be my next Harley and in my opinion the Road Glide is a better riding bike than the street glide.

I'm 5'7 and I like the Road Glide .. But I might be to short for it ?? I'm torn .... don't know what to get ..I like that Faring is on the frame ...The bat looks like a lot of work in the wind and long runs ....

After test riding the SGS, I decided to just exercise some due diligence and ride a RGS to confirm I should choose the SG. I ended up with a Road Glide Special. The bike was extremely well balanced at all speeds and conditions. I’m 6’2 with gorilla arms and a long-ish torso. The coverage was maybe a little bit better with the RG (at least with the OEM wind deflectors, which have a marked impact of catching wind and buffeting). I get zero buffeting on a RG at any speed WITH the OEM deflector. I don’t know about the ole lady on the back. Haven’t tested that yet. It would be the only reason I would change to a Klock Works deflector. Just my two cents anyway.

2016 Road Glide Special for me. My last bike was a 2013 Street Glide. The Road Glide handles much better on the highways and the interstate. Never going back to a batwing fairing HD

I'm 6'4 & feel much more comfortable sitting on the RG. Haven't ridden it yet, but curious of your thoughts on the wind buffeting at my height with the stock wind screen.
@fastjax7 жыл бұрын
I never heard any complaints from anyone at your height. I think you would be ok with stock height windshield
@zososhep7 жыл бұрын
Danny, I am 6'6" and bought a 2017 Road Glide Special. I did end up getting a much taller windshield (Freedom Shields---check them out. You can order one and take it for a test ride and if it's too short you can send it back for an exchange or refund minus shipping costs). Now I have zero buffeting even at 90 mph. I got the sport touring model and couldn't be happier! So remember there are a lot of options to make the bike as comfortable as possible. The RGS is an incredible motorcycle and the new Milwaukee 8 engine is simply unbelievable. Good luck!

I'm 6'1 tall.. planning to get a Ultra Limited which will be bit higher than the SG. Will i still get does wind buffers? as its the same fairing as the SG.
@fastjax7 жыл бұрын
yeah I usually suggest to raise the windshield by a few inches or get the clockworks windshield that kicks up. that would take care of it
@cheatdeathproc7 жыл бұрын
Basdowski I had a 14 Ultra Limited with stock screen. I'm 6'3" tall. I would get a little bit of buffeting on the top of my helmet but not too much. I also have a longish torso so I sit up pretty tall on any bike. I think that at 6'1" tall you might get away with the standard set up. If I put my hand on the front of my helmet just above the visor I could feel the wind hit my hand. I could have put a 2" higher recurve screen on it and it would have been perfect. But I reckon you might be ok at your height. I never did it as I'm in Australia and our choice of aftermarket stuff is very sparse. And to get anything shipped over from the States costs an arm and a leg.

For my 5'4" height and 29" inseam would these be suitable? I like the look of that roadglide.
@fastjax7 жыл бұрын
you would most likely have to lower it, the road glides seat height is 25.9". and since your sitting your legs would spread a little so you could be on your toes. but I've seen many people your height own both models. I have a video of the road glide going up tonight after i edit.

Excellent vid thanks Jax. Short and to the point. Never considered the height before. I have an 06’ Ultraglide with the Street style fairing and I get a lot of buffeting at speed. I’m used to it but it is fatiguing long trips. I’m 6 foot tall. My next bike will be the Roadglide. Used to have a BMWK100and I love the lighter steering of the frame mounted fairing.
@markurbancowboy6 жыл бұрын
Great video. I've had them both. Had a 2012 RG, 2012 SG and now a 2018 SG. The SG is more comfortable to me just for the reasons you stated. I also like how the SG feels smaller and less bulky because how the batwing fairing sits back on you more.

Street glide is more sportier than a road glide or road glides good for long distance rides because it has a bigger fairing and it deflects more of the wind off of you beside that the same bike

you could, you may also be just fine without it. shorter guys and gals do better on the road glide than taller people do on the street glide IMO.

road king handles better in corners then both these models due to its reduced weight

I have owned both and now a current 18 rgs owner. I find both shields suck. I am 5'5" (short legs long Torso) and experience buffing on both (stock)I went with the rg this time because of looks, the handling and easy steering. IMHO you cant go wrong with either

Personally, if I were to sell my BMW K1200 LT for either of these bikes, it would be the Street Glide. I am 6'6 and 233 pounds, so would need to fit an after market screen to it to stop buffeting of my helmet, although why is it in 2017 that Harley cannot fit an Adjustable Screen to ALL of there Touring Bikes, something BMW has been doing for years? The Fairing on the Road Glide, to me at least is Butt Ugly, which is why I would buy the Street Glide.
