if you don't know already: The song is based on the story of a video game from 1998 called parasite eve, seems relatable but they wrote it before the pandemic. interesting timing tho
@xatsukox5033 жыл бұрын
A cool fact that some speculate was that oli himself actually altered the lyrics to actually coincide that we're in a pandemic, and an extra thing was that he personally called Mick Gordan, music producer for the recent Doom Eternal, so some of the synths and distortions used were due to his collab/Co-production with them and there's even a little Doom Esque sounds you can hear within the songs, mostly the riffs that were quite heavier than usual.

This entire album is simply magnificent. There are some heavier ones. Kingslayer is brutal. Idk who pissed Oli off, but he really lets some truly guttural lows rip. Teardrops, 1x1, Obey, all eargasms. The Butterfly song is beautiful, and is actually a ballad sung between the earth and mankind. Amy Lee's parts are the earth, and Oli represents mankind

Their sound in my opinion was completely lost on the amo album. This new album, was dark, some aggressive songs, decent screams, and an all around great sound. Very dystopian, and thematic, I love albums that tell a complete story. The all over conception is brilliant. I feel like the amazing parts of old BMTH are back. The sounds that make them unlike other bands. Also, I love the direction they’ve moved to with this album. I love the music and lyrics. However, amo, I’ve listened to it maybe 5 times. Their other albums hundreds of times. I’m sure I will listen to this album to infinity as well. I connected with this album so much. I also must admit I need a heavier sound in music to enjoy it. Mixed with deep lyrics and it’s an instant favorite. For myself, I can’t see a BMTH album ever surpassing Sempiternal. Which personally is my favorite of all their albums.
@DanShiraz4 жыл бұрын
I think one of the major things that usually hits bands hard is people taking their sound changes or modifications too personally and start hating on the band. Sempiternal for me was a turning point for their sound and even though i liked their sound before that that album just put BMTH right at the top of the charts for me however a lot of the hard-core fans thought it was a bit of a downer, same happened with Thats the spirit and fans lost their shit. Bands have to adapt and put out music they really feel at the time they put it all together and people should just be a bit open about music generally. Great reaction though 👌 I'm sure you've already heard plenty of it but if there are any songs you havent heard especially from Magma then please consider doing Gojira 🤘
@TankTheTech4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it’s interesting that a lot of fans take changes so personal. I got into BMTH from Sempiternal, and a lot of people I knew were like “bro they used to no so much better but now they suck cause they changed”. Personally, “That’s The Spirit” is my favorite album of theirs that I’ve heard. I’ll definitely be checking out some Gojira. That’s another band I absolutely know who they are and how big they are, but I’ve never listened. Any specific songs you’d recommend?
@DanShiraz4 жыл бұрын
@@TankTheTech Thats the spirit is a really great album quite diverse too with heavy hitters and some mellow clean vocal tracks. You should definitely check out their live videos from Royal Albert Hall in London- Gives the tracks a whole different vibe as they played a whole show arranged with a 47 piece orchestra and 14 person choir... Will totally blow you away, majority of the tracks were from Thats the Spirit but also the more popular tracks from other records.. Gojira is an absolute beast (pun intended 🤣) When it comes progression and diversity of albums these French giants are overwhelmingly underrated yet their sound is so unique it literally will melt your face while making you groove at the same time. Tracks wise there's so much to pick from but if you start with signature tunes like: The heaviest matter of the Universe (Album version) Le Enfant Sauvage (Album version) Where dragons dwell (Live hellfest 2013) The gift of guilt (Live Brixton academy) Oroborus The art of Dying Global warming (Live silver cord studios) Their latest album is Magma if you hear the older stuff and then this you'll literally go through the evolution of their sound and how their progressive sound is so unique, some tracks from the new album: Stranded Silvera Yellowstone Magma From the stuff I've seen from you so far its obvious you appreciate the growls but also the musical prowess of how each bands members gel and sound, in my limited yet very eclectic experience i think Joe (the singer) is one of the very few if not only singer I know of that growls in a way its almost an actual note 😂 And dont even get me started on the absolute monster that's his brother Mario - I think by far in todays music scene he is easily one of the best drummers if not the most technical drummer out there right now! I'm sure you'll enjoy this dude! Amazing work really, keep it up!

While seeming all too relevant to the current coronavirus crisis, the song ‘Parasite Eve’ actually started to form last year when Sykes was reading about a Japanese superbug that had become heat resistant due to climate change. He borrowed the title from an old Playstation game and the band started to record the track back in February before the pandemic really took hold across the globe. “We shelved the song for a bit because it felt bit too close to the bone. After sitting on it for a while, we realised that this was a reason to release it now more than ever. In our music we’ve always wanted to escape, but there’s been too much escapism and ignoring the problems in the world. It’s not what the world needs. The world needs more and needs to think about it and remember. You can’t just brush over it and expect life to go back to normal, because it fucking ain’t. In so many ways, we need to change. That’s what rock music is about - addressing the dark side and processing it.” Sykes continued: “This is a moment we all knew was coming one day, but maybe not in our lifetime. Look at the Black Lives Matter protests too. It felt like we were making progress and people were standing up to injustice, but maybe we got too complacent because it’s still happening. It’s time to be pissed off. It’s not the time to say, ‘These days shall pass’ and ‘everything will be OK’, because it won’t fucking be OK unless we fucking do something about it.”
