One thing I gotta say I love about this channel is how Tank goes back and does the research and inserts these facts into the videos after the fact. Far too often you'll watch a video on KZbin where the host hypothesizes something or just flat out has the wrong information and then they just leave it in there and the misinformation continues to spread. I like that I actually learn something from these videos in terms of the gear the artists use and I appreciate your commitment to accuracy!

I am going to assume since you obviously do research before videos are posted that you already know the backstory of the reason that there are 3 guitarists and 2 vocalists, but since it wasn't mentioned in the video, for people that don't know: the Pumpkins United tour was the result of reconciliation between old bandmates that lead to them to decide to reunite (while not sidelining the current lineup) for a super high profile tour together ("Pumpkins United" indeed. lol). Kai Hansen was actually the vocalist and guitar player on the first album and played guitars for a bit before he left to form Gamma Ray, Michael Kiske (bald) is an absolute legend and he was the vocalist during the 80's and early 90's era (this song was from his era), and Andi Deris replaced him in the mid 90's and has been killing it ever since. That tour setlist included songs where each of the 3 vocalists (including Kai!) can be the frontman, and several crowd pleasers like this where they all join together in something truly spectacular to behold. I actually listened to an interview with Michael Kiske where he talked about the reconciliation, the tour, the Blu ray and even teased that they had kicked around the idea of doing an album together. It is truly a magnificent time to be a Helloween fan. PS: most of their songs are not this long and wanky, this is the exception, not the rule, I swear. lol

You've got to be authentic, or reactions don't carry weight. Appreciate the honesty! Helloween is a tough band to recommend a starting point for. Their initial albums, they were pretty much speed metal with Kai Hansen at the vocals. Then Michael Kiske came in and they started shaping into their trademark sound. It is worth noting that the band were aged around 19-22 when they wrote this song, and it came out in 1987. They were talented and wanted to show off, which quite sums up a lot of metal in the 80s in my opinion. Then came the Andi Deris era which had some insane sounds of darkness mixed with cheesiness. I initially struggled with Helloween, and actively disliked them when I first heard them. But over time, I really did appreciate the sound (especially that Bass!). As others have pointed, I do hope you do give Helloween another shot at some point, if nothing else to appreciate Kiske's incredible singing back in the day. Stay safe!

As far as the wanking is concerned, this is of course a 13 minute song. Usually, their songs are more structured, even though there always is a lot of wanking, because that'S what 80's Speed Metal's all about. Their debut Walls of Jericho is one of the best albums within that genre, and with their following two outputs Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt 1 and 2, they basically laid the groundwork for what was then to become Power Metal. Kot7K is another 14-minute epic, and if you want some of that raw Speed Metal, go for Heavy Metal (Is the Law). Probably my favourite song ever.

Fun fact: Kai Hansen was originally a guitarist and singer. But the double burden was too much for him and Michael Kiske joined the band as a singer. In this formation they became famous. Kai left the band because of disputes with the label. Later Michael, because of musical disputes with the band. Only recently have they been able to build on their old successes. In 2017 both came back to the band to give a few concerts together. It became a couple more and now they do it until they don't feel like it anymore. This means that there are two band members too many on stage: 3 singers and 3 guitarists (with Kai in his dual role). The 5 minute version of Halloween is a shortened radio version.

For license reason neither Helloween, or gamma ray, or some of kiskes offsprings (like unisonic) couldn't do it live. They even had ths sort of crowd play to start a few tones with a "no no" finger after it. Now. When the "pumpkins united" tour went out, they gathered all the band members in one place AND FINALLY PLAYED IT. I was on the verge of pulling my pants over through my head when I heard it live, after 15 years of pure album. And with Kiske on vocals. Do check the song some day, it has a story to it

Halloween is not the greatest introduction to this band. I Want Out and Future World are both iconic songs I highly recommend checking out, both have live videos from Wacken. Speaking of which, Helloween at Wacken '18 is one the greatest shows I've seen in recent years. Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen both quit the band over 20 years ago, but joined for the Pumpkins United tour, hence why they had 3 guitarists and 2 vocalists. If you check out more Helloween and like it, I recommend checking out some of Kai Hansen's other bands, Gamma Ray and Unisonic, the latter also featuring Michael Kiske. Kiske is a legend and has featured guest vocals for dozen of other bands, most motably Avantasia.

Michael Kiske reunites in this video with his old band for a Halloween reunited tour. Great project Years ago Michael Kiske started together with his former band friend (do you say that?) Kai Hansen the Project UNISONIC, also damn good. But I am curious, if we get more stuff from this project.

@@LunaBianca1805 I love Kiske/Somerville 😊 They're both amazing vocalists. Somerville is also one of those vocalists that just shows up everywhere. I saw her other project Exit Eden at Wacken a few years ago (although without Amanda as she was busy with other projects at the time) and it was just a huge party.

@@danielsand8989 I do hope we get more from Unisonic in the future. Their drummer retired a few years ago, but the rest of the band are still active with their other projects. And I think Hansen and Kiske might want to do more stuff together after their Helloween reunion considering Kiske was also featured on Kai Hansen's recent solo project.

A German Power metal band that needs more recognition is definitely Orden Ogan, i'd recommend In The Dawn Of The AI, Gunman or The Things We Believe In as a good starting point.

Have been listening Halloween since 1988, and it's incredible that Kiske when recording Keeper of the seven keys wasn't even 20 years old, and was already top 5 metal vocal at the time. Really enjoy your vids cause unlike many reaction wankers out here that only do dumb face expressions you put a lot of interesting info/details, and you do your research and add stuff on editing.

Bassist Markus Grosskopf is sadly unrecognized amongst bass players. We met Markus after their show in 2018 and he plays both Fender & Sandburg, I have video of him telling my brother exactly that. Side note: he also shared his bottle of Jack (hidden in a big potato chip bag as we were outside of the hotel) with my bro. Chatted with Kai (ESP guitarist), they were both such good guys. My favorite band!

Kai Hansen (red guitar), one of the founding members of Helloween, and also part of this reunion tour (and upcoming album) did some guest vocals and solos on the early Blind Guardian albums: "Hall of the King" & "Valhalla" on Follow the Blind, "Lost in the Twilight Hall" & "The Last Candle" on Tales from the Twilight World, and "The Quest for Tanelorn" on Somewhere Far Beyond.

Thank you for reacting to Helloween's "Halloween". I saw it an immediately clicked on it. I do recommend these three songs from them: 1- "Phantoms of Death" from the Walls of Jericho album sung by original vocalist, Kai Hansen. This song and "Ride The Sky" are my two favorite songs off this album. 2- "Eagle Fly Free" sung by Michael Kiske off the Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part 2 album. IMO, this is by far their greatest song. You'll love it 3- "Mr. Torture" sung by Andi Deris off The Dark Ride album. It's a great, heavy song and my favorite Andi Deris song. Enjoy!

at 16.05 the verse is "Am I in heaven? Or is it hell?" but the singer sings "Am I in Spain?" (because the concert was in Spain) lol

You should try some of Kai Hansen' band: Gamma Ray. For example, Rebellion in Dreamland.

You even have seen inside this clip all 3 singers Helloween ever had. Kai Hansen, the guy in this video with the Randy Rhoads Flying V was the first singer, Michael Kiske (baldheaded guy) was the second singer and Andi Deris is the third and latest.

Missed opportunity: "...On this channel, we talk a lot about ESPs!" **Little cutout picture of Emppu slides into the corner of the frame, then sloooowly back out again** And yes I know he's not the only/most significant one who plays them, but the gag just seems appropriate given how much Tank likes Nightwish and Emppu is a prankster.

I haven’t listened to Helloween for a long time. I don‘t care much for the second singer, but Michael is still awesome, his voice is fantastic. And the song is phenomenal, actually the whole album is a masterpiece, in my opinion.

I saw them at Monsters of Rock Donnington around '92. They put on a helluva show. Iron Maiden was the headliner, and the whole lineup was awesome!

Definitely appreciate the honesty! While I love Helloween and this song I really can't blame you, haha! I'm sure you'll get this recommendation a bunch of times but definitely check out Keeper Of the Seven Keys from the same show! It's a similar length but much better constructed

As far as I read the comments, nobody mentioned that it was kind of a reunion tour with band members returning after quite some years. And since I enjoyed the "Pumpkins United" show at the Zenith, Munich very much, I really don't know what your point is about 'wankin'. Sure they do show off, but hey, it's live, you got your cold beer and I sure can say nobody was complaining at all ;-)

Nice, some good old german power metal. Also cool to check out: Singer Kai Hansens (they guy with red Rhoads guitar) other band Gamma Ray, maybe with "Last before the Storm". It's a banger.

1) I was 4 when my brother (15 at that time) brought home a cassette with album Keeper of the Seven Keys (part I.) and I played the heck out of that tape. I played it so often that the sound begun to hiss in the quiet parts. I was RAISED on this music. ;) 2) Nightwish used the kabuki drop too (Imaginaerum tour). 3) The sound is not updated, they sound almost exactly as the studio version. 4) This is their iconic song, along with Keeper of the Seven Keys, they are more like classical compositions, and maybe I´m just biased because as I said I was raised on this, but those long as heck solo parts are my favorites. They have such a great atmosphere... When somebody says Halloween (and Helloween), I think of this atmosphere. If you want more "radio hits", I highly suggest for example music video to "I Want Out", Michael Kiske (the bald singer) is about 19 there. Check out his singing at that age. Unbelievable range and breath control at the end of the song. And the song is just a huge hit in general (and my personal anthem). 47 million views is not bad for a 30 years old song, isn´t it? :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJu5aYZ-n62pfs0

“Helloween” is more like the bands theme song, in that it’s more for the fans and isn’t as dynamic as the rest of their music. It also references things from their other songs that people who aren’t fans yet wouldn’t be able to pick up on. (This doesn’t make it a bad song, it’s just not intended to bring in new fans). (Fun Fact: Helloween fans are called Pumpkins 🎃).

I have to say, that in the bootleg of the Album of this song is written something like: "Everyone who spells the song" Halloween" from the band "Helloween" with an 'e' and the name of the band with an 'a' will immediately be turned i to a big, ugly, half-price-selling pumpkin. 😉
