Michael Kiske is a BEAST !! I’ve always thought he could walk-on to Broadway principal role easily. I read that he didn’t take vocal instruction until mid-career when he wanted technique to keep his voice healthy; obviously at almost 50 years old, he had no problems keeping it fit. The song “Halloween” is a tour-de-force performance also. It’s a wonder why they weren’t one of the biggest bands in the world.
@pedroteran58853 жыл бұрын
They might have become really big. Hansen left, then they were signed by EMI (and Iron Maiden's management) but Noise Records sued them and got the court to prevent EMI from promoting Pink Bubbles Go Ape, which was not so good to begin with and also quite non-metallish except for a few Maiden-influenced songs. Noise also put out a compilation record in the stores to compete with Pink Bubbles. Then Chameleon was completely non-metal, with personal problems within the band and three songwriters each bringing in a couple ballads/ soft songs. Ingo died, Kiske was kicked off and started badmouthing metal and metal fans. At that point their momentum was exactly zero.

And that was when Iron Maiden were still pretty new but when you're starting out as a teenager a couple of years is a lot. The performance is great, Kiske has always been a beast of a singer. I share the admiration of the vocal coach but he should explain why having a round torso (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6SklmWZf7GIZsk) helps singing this way. Without mentioning the airflow thing... it's pretty remarkable how all Kiske's efforts are aiming towards HOLDING, which is the only way to sustain such a performance.
