We live in the Everglades and have learned, that in the summer, your best bet is to fish the shaded areas. The tannins from the mangroves stain the water so you can’t see in…but the big boys sit in the shade

@@FirstStateFishing that’s when the water level is the lowest and the fish are more condensed in the canal. If you go to the sawgrass recreation area on US 27 you can rent a John boat to explore the canals

I fell in love with fishing when I hooked my thumb with a 3 inch hook from joint to tip. It's was a memory I'll never forget. We cut the hook at the eye and pulled it through like a bad@$$. I was only 2 and a half years old. My dad let me pull the hook through.

Yooo, I'm from (and still live in) Wilmington, DE. At least 1x a year I go down to Westin, FL and fish Alligator Alley all day. I went around this time last year and caught nothing, seen massive gators tho, a local told me it was too hot and the fish moved to deeper waters. I went on Easter break in 2023 and the fish were so active that it looked like the water was boiling. I caught fish on every style lure. Bowfin, catfish, peacock, gar, myans, and bluegill. Seen multiple gators too, I'm going down in November this year.

Those plecos are the same common pleco sold in pet stores. They get huge, people get them not realizing how big of a tank they need, then the fish gets too big, then people release them into the wild. They are SUPER destructive invasives, doing all kinds of damage to the Everglades.

Catching/snagging a pleco is kinda crazy. At least for me. Idk if it's common. But when in Puerto Rico, where they are very common as well. It seemed like even if you tried to snag them it was almost impossible.

The grub looks like a Mister Twister twin tail.
@alexross263 ай бұрын
yeah for peacocks the brighter the lure the faster the retrieve the better the bite. Lots of times when I try to fish it slow they shoot up to it pause then go away. Theyre 100% tuned in to movement of any kind and dont care about the look of the lure. In way south florida they sell basically bright yellow rooster tails youd expect to use for flounder but they work great for peacocks if you just reel and twitch comically fast. They literally look like a piece of plastic trash but as long as you catch their attention with the color and keep it moving the peas will attack it.
