Got almost the same setup in the Jimny, but with a NL60 twin wich is quite a bit bigger than the fridge shown in this setup. Second battery is installed behind the driver side seat. (NL60 is probably the biggest you can go in a Jimny that is just big enough for 2 people for a week before supplies run out :) )

Its nice to have a system like this if you have a caravan/trailer, or boat and a 4x4 where you can just move it from one vehicle to another; and you dont have to have a seperate kit installed in each if you dont want.

Great info. What Battery dit you put in the green box?
@RoamOverlanding5 жыл бұрын
National Luna put a 115AH AGM Battery in it. Amazing performance; but I think I want to try find a lighter option for the final setup! AGM is great for a bakkie; but 32KG for a Jimny is a hell of a lot.
@michaeldande2 жыл бұрын
how does the battry luna recharge.. is it from dual solunoid or solar can i use it to charge drones camera batteries cell phones while outdoor thanks
@RoamOverlanding2 жыл бұрын
It’s a dc-dc charger that uses your alternator to charge your secondary battery at stable charge rate up to 25A/hour, it can also charge via solar with its built in MPPT. On the green box you see here, you have some cigarette lighter outputs for 12v accessories as well as USB outlets. So you can charge whatever can use this. If you want you can get a small 300W inverter that plugs in with a cigarette lighter and charge 220v stuff 👌🏻 and obviously that battery box can hold up to a 115AH battery in it

Looks great and I'm always interested in upgrades for cars like the Jimny or the Pajero Mini that I drive. At the same time I'm totally confused by this video. What's the end goal? Continuous eating of fresh food while you drive? Transporting frozen goods? Just not sure how these add-ons will contribute to the functionality of the car. I use mine mostly for hunting and camping etc. so that's my context. Just wondering what yours is.

I think you should consider replacing your existing stock alternator to more powerful one, for example 105amp one. Other-vice your alternator will be chronically overloaded and your batteries will be chronically uncharged. No relay or other electronic fiture will change this, only more powerful alternator.
@RoamOverlanding4 жыл бұрын
Something to consider, perhaps get a sealed alternator too
@DimitrosSJ4 жыл бұрын
well, according to my offroad competition experience and practice, there's no need to isolate(seal) alternator, even if it occasionally will be submerged under water it will survive. And believe me, Jimney is not an "off-road trophy" vehicle, meaning that it's not intended for sitting in swamps or mud- or waterholes for hours without bad consequences. And from other side - it is too light, so when you place proper offroad tires in, it won't going to dig in swamp or sink in mud, you'll gonna float over it. But that's in case you'll have enough power from engine and enough gear ratio in your TC.
