Even if it is his own opinion, the taint of taking money directly to promote specific content is extremely shady. Failing to disclose that until after the fact is a whole new layer. I don't know the creator and I'm only vaguely aware of this drama but it seems pretty obvious to me, if you take money you disclose it, if you take content or merchandise you disclose it, and you reject offers that appear improper.

@@StarlightEdith, the thing about the Sims 3 store is that it was treated as extra, not part of the actual game. Most players ignored it, content with what was already in the main packs. I mean, there are Sims 3 players who, to this day, are shocked to find out there are cows or roller coasters on Sims 3 store. That's how much it *wasn't* treated like a big deal. On the other hand, Kits are treated like the other Sims 4 packs, right up to having trailers, and being part of their "roadmaps" of new, must-have stuff. And, if you don't get them, you're totally missing out! Seriously, whether they get them or not, it's hard for a Sims 4 player not to know about every single Kit. (And not to feel FOMO about them.)

I remember when Journey to Batuu first came out UrbanSimz did a paid promotion LP for the pack. It was so strange, cause you could REALLY TELL the difference between that and her usual reviews/content, which was what prompted me to look for the tiny little hashtag underneath the video that said "#EApaidpromotion" or something like that, and that really shocked me. My point is, there IS a big difference between being paid and being given early access/free packs (which tbh, also makes the reviewer waaay too bias). I also think its funny that Journey to Batuu is genuinely so bad and flopped so hard that they had to PAY simfluencers to promote it 😂 I personally haven't seen EA do this for any other sims pack, though i could be wrong

She is still willing to be bias , and turn on the audience that literally platformed her into success. Alot sim content creators have such a disconnect with their "chat" with their "subscribers" ... That they will literally advertise a broken game to a bunch of young children , that of course are going to trust her opinion. IDC what she is honest about in a review, it's the fact she PLAYS every new dlc and advertises it. She is grown and should know damn well someone of these packs need to be told to not buy. And in return she has do the same by stopping the content on a BROKEN faulty dlc. all these creators starterted out genuine & relatable and thats why the court of public opinion chose HER from anyone else. Keep the Sims 4 roasts coming! Setting up a dedicated team just to fix bugs after over 9 years is years too late, but better late than never. Yeah, but his channel is INFO channel, therefore he is doing what he has to do, very different than being paid by EA or having a code, to be paid by EA when customers rings in their money to them, like lilsimsie, james, deli etc... That definitely taint your though in their favor. They will sometime have a outrage on something, but it is usually a personal problem about something, like something that triggers them, rather than advocating for the community, and they will also return to their very watered down opinions, unconsciouslty or not tainted by EA.

I don't necessarily think he's part of the ea system, but I do find him and creators similar to him to be reductive. I just find it a little paint by numbers with trends that happen all the time. You could almost write the script ahead of time because its 'just the same content over and over. SimmerErin is the same thing. Cries about the state of sims 4 while hyping what the next pack will be.

I agree ! I posted about Fantasia who is a perfect example of an EA partner but also for the people! She is always on top of any news that needs to be known, she dedicates so many videos on just her subscribers comments and what they think. She makes every video as if she is speaking WITH us directly to EA. SATCHonsims is fantastic! He is gonna tell u the truth eveytime , he is 100% committed to not selling out , if a pack is broken, he doesn't play and advertise it. Not only that, but uses the opportunity to shoot out smaller CC and mod creators as an alternative And then Simayin .. I think her real name is Yin. she doesn't post everyday anymore , but she was a full activitist! She was a voice for the console players, simmers with the mobile app , any problem big or small , she broadcasted it. And again, no partnership, nothing. She was reviews a game and if it was broken, she will tell u exactly where to report , and never play it again. She truly does taken her job seriously .. I admire her and her work so much ❤

Honestly I'm glad people are roasting sims 4 team. They left a bad taste in my mouth back when they released island paradise for ts3 and then literally never patched the game again or fixed any bugs whatsoever. I honestely couldn't care less about Sims 4 anymore, I fully uninstalled it recentely and I'm currentely only playing Sims 3... Sims 2 and 3 are the literally King and Queen of the whole Franchise... Both games were made with LOVE! Sims 4 is just made with political bs and money grab opportunities (cough cough** kits), they don't care about gameplay or improving the life-sim quality of their own game, they literally just care about "inclusivity" now. That's not a bad thing at all... but once a company focus JUST ON THAT it starts being a problem, because it is no longer a game, but a political messenger.

She also genuinely loves the game and that's even blinded me to the shortcomings of the Sims 4. It wasn't until "For Rent" That I swore off buying new content from EA.

Maybe I’m wrong but I always assumed that sponsored meant that the creator was paid in cash? Because I’ve seen KZbinrs who are promoting a product say that they are not sponsored and have no obligation to show off the product to viewers, but received the product for free.

Sponsored by = paid. There are some creators who aren’t paid but given a pack for free and MAYBE a creator code and they will usually say “brought to you by” instead of “sponsored by” when no direct payment is involved. Which while not directly sponsored, is basically back door “payment”. Early reviews are totally gonna pump your numbers on KZbin which = Money.

It depends on locale also. The US distinguishes between them more often but some European countries like the UK are more strict. Putting #ad for example is not enough in the UK. The ASA sent out a warning recently saying that the sponsorship needs to be prominent. Also recieving a free game would still come under the rules. It's very strict. I don't think you're allowed to call it a "review" either if you were sent a game for free. A number of (mostly IG) creators have gotten into trouble over the years

This is a minor criticism but like so many “major” Sims 4 KZbinrs also shout out other “major” Sims 4 KZbinrs when they make builds for a new pack but can be barely be bothered to remember when a smaller Sims 4 KZbinr builds for a new pack. It takes maybe 1-2 minutes to google who were builders for new packs and the smaller Sims 4 KZbinrs always shout out and praise the bigger ones when the big ones build for a new pack. Like this sims 4 community is so toxic and hypocritical.

I was very excited for horse ranch pack, because EA didn’t give us horses in pets or in countryside, they wanted to squeeze as much money from costumers as possible. Understandable. I remember all the hype about Native American representation, I was exited and wanted to buy this pack. So I waited. Interviews, videos, promises.. “we’re working with this organisation, we’re trying our best!”.. aaand in the end the whole representation was 3 grill dishes, one or two clothing items and.. “rework” of hairstyle that already existed in game. And it was broken, for months. Community was flabbergasted and angry… till the next kit or pack was announced. Then I enjoyed just the show. EA announced new pack - community hyped. Pack brakes the game - community angry. EA announced new pack. 😂

thats why i like satchonsims, he never bullshits and he's constantly pointing out the flaws in EA. i play with 90% the expansions, packs, and kits and let me just say its not even worth it. mods are the only thing that make this game playable and all this confirmed for me is that i'm never giving EA a dime.

@@thesims3girlie i have never played sims 4 but for all my love for sims 3 i don't want to force people to switch from sims 4 to sims 3. It's understandable that not everyone likes the style, understandable that people find it difficult to adjust nraas or smooth patch or other settings so that the sims 3 does not run badly. But I would advise them to p!rate game. And to be honest, maybe 10 years ago I would have bought the sims 3 if I had the money, but nowadays those funds will go to those who are responsible for the sims 4 too

I am a Sims girlie (which encompasses TS1-3 and all the spinoffs), not a DLC Simulator (a.k.a. Sims 4), sell-out! I do watch some TS4 KZbinrs, but over the past year or so, only watch them when they play the earlier games. I am glad there are those like you that call them out. I actually used to watch sone of Gonz' shorts, but unsuscribed, because he is clueless to the actual original Lore, and highly promotes the alternate Sims 4 Lore, instead of doing deep dives. While I am glad EA has finally come around to throwing some cash at content creators, I have seen the sudden shift on how they now gaslight their subscribers, into thinking EA cares, and their broken DLC is worth buying. Sad...insulting...and at the same time, it just makes me more excited to move on to the competition. Sure, I will still play all my Sim favorites (best is TS2), but I think it is time to let TS4 sink into its grave! 😈🤣

All current packs including kits cost 1,194 US dollars. Tbh I don't blame sims creators not being too harsh on their product. It's the name of the game and some of them (lilsimsie) use that to put money into great donations. Lilsimsie though is a tough one because she is very anti-corporation/left leaning so it gives a bad taste in your mouth when she's clearly working with the sims team. But you've also got to remember these creators meet a lot of the sims team and see the inner workings a lot closer than the rest of us. My point is bigger creators like Lilsimsie meet some of the sims team and that can also make them give the team more grace. It's a lot harder to be critical when you know the people behind it. I just wish the sims team would just STOP for a second and rethink their plan because despite all the paid promotion, their brand is still burning and crashing. Even the sims 4 fans don't like the sims 4 team or EA at this point. Or even the game. It's just kind of pathetic that the company is clinging on when it really should just let go.

I was telling these influencers a little thing about them selves. Finally someone calling out gonz. He would sugar coat everything besides like 1 minor thing in a kit. I would comment pointing out things.. 1 comment I pointed out a table in a kit was a recolour of a base game table. He comments “I think they are quite different”. There’s other examples of things he replies that I can’t remember because it’s late but I was starting to get frustrated because I do enjoy his videos. He cooks really well. He is a nice person but I don’t like the promoting of packs when the game is in the state it’s in. Promoting batuu and he actually promoted my first pet stuff... he said that if you don’t/can’t buy an expansion like cats n dogs that my first pet stuff would be a good option for players failing to mention that to use the stuff pack entirely you NEED cats n dogs. It’s just dodgy.

So beyond the competition and everything else, I have a theory. My theory is that they apparently had some report come out about "active players" and bragging about how they have so many active players of Sims 4. When a lot of people like me heard about this, I said "Oh I don't think so." Because my thought was that whenever we go in to update, because they go on about how their updates are fixing things then we find out it really didn't fix anything, are we then considered an "active player" because we pulled up the game? I didn't play it, I just updated and left, but did that pulling up count me as an "active player"? So I vowed to stop doing even that and give up on it entirely. Though honestly, I personally gave up a few years back but one of my nieces still likes it so I was updating to see if it was safe for her to play again, which is hasn't been, but still. So they are not just tracking sales but people who actually play the game. My further thought is that very few actually play, they mess around in CAS and they build, but very few actually play. Did their little report show that? Hmmmm? Because it was after that report that we they came out with this. It has been very obvious to me from time to time that EA was paying some people to promote packs. Every so often, a whole bunch of them will "revisit" the same pack from years ago. Now one or two doing the backyard patio or whatever its called (just an example, I don't remember all the ones they did that with) is one thing but so many of the bigger ones all doing the same pack in like two weeks? No, they been really "sponsored", and of course they all say how the pack has held up and here is what you can do with it if you go buy it right now. Oh, and then say things like "I really like that I'm going to be using it in all my builds for a long time" so followers that want their builds are going to buy the pack because they want what that sims youtuber made just as they made it for their game. Yeah, they don't have to be told to say anything, they just do for their own self.

I used to work in influencer marketing for one of the top retailers, and let me say, there's no way the company doesn't tell that creator what to say in his paid videos... the amount of steps it takes to get paid influencer content approved.... yes, you do not technically force a creator, but you use so many different tactics

I said the exact same thing about EA waiting 10 years to put together a team to fix the bugs in Sims 4. It just took some competition. Truly disgusting move. Now, CS2's community uproar over a game released that has a lot of issues, it's what I would expect from the Sims community, but sadly they disappoint. hey, what you said about sims 4 youtubers having a vested interest from sponsorships is like exactly what's happening with the total war franchise (strategy games developed by creative assembly and published by sega) because there are so many shills (they literally have a creator program where u get early access codes = better and earlier and more relevant youtube content than anyone else = more money) who only offer token criticism of the games when the outrage becomes too big to ignore just to appease the community but once thats over they go right back to shilling and overhyping their games which frankly have recently not been very good (total war pharaoh was a dumpster fire with barely anyone playing it) because if theyre too critical/honest they lose their early access codes and thus their channel performance and thus their money. Of course the company will never say it's because of that criticism, they'll just come up with whatever bs excuse they need to boot you out. Its like, multi layered bribery is the best way i can describe it. Praise the game->continued sponsorship->more early access+perks->advantage over other creators->more views->more money

I agree yet, technically, any time a creator receives monetary compensation from a company - whether in the form of cash or gifts - they’re being “sponsored” For example, KZbin (and the FTC) doesn’t differentiate between sponsorships and gifts; they’re both types of paid promotion

This is the same reason I'm no longer interested in LBY cause a couple of simmers they hired have very biased overly positive reviews when it comes to SIMS 4 to try and convince us that the gameplay outweighs the horrible graphics of the game. Even though so many of us asked the graphics to be changed but they're not listening.
