Here’s the tea. I’ve been playing these types of simulation ‘games’ for years. The first time I spent hundreds of dollars on something was Second Life. This was before The Sims 4 was what it is today. Then I stopped because it became very “pay to play”. Eventually the same happened with The Sims 4. Whenever a “game” is littered with micro transactions or DLCs, slowly but surely you began to feel a classic of FOMO. Now, you can spend your money on whatever you want. However, it comes a point where you start to realize the ploy (content creators and promos) and where you fall into all of it. I love gifting myself because I feel like I truly deserve something. But you gotta realize when you’re getting the bare minimum for the amount you’re spending or stop yourself before it becomes an addiction. I run from any game that prioritizes DLC every 3 business days and sell mini packs to get a somewhat enjoyable experience.

I think that it’s adorable you think Paralives will be releasing anytime soon. I doubt it’ll even release in 2025. People need to cease this desperation for a game that has had zero gameplay trailers, zero reveals, and zero actual hard evidence it exists anymore than the usual Kickstarter/Patreon scams that flood the gaming industry. The age of ‘smol indie developers’ is over. Stardew Valley was almost a whimsical dream at this point and the chances of another game, especially in a niche genre such as life simulation, is very, very rare. I hate EA as a whole just as much as any other regular gamer, but you guys make it hard to not defend them when Alex Massé is just as greedy as EA. There is no passion anymore, it’s all for money. Now, let me get the crux. Paralives will not release because when it does, 85% of the money it makes vanishes in the blink of an eye. It makes, currently, $58,230 AUD per month. $698,760 a year. I believe the Patreon has been up for about five years. $3,493,800. Let’s dive deeper. Most people are subbed at the middle tier and reading the Reddit, people have been on that sub list for three years. $306. They have purchased 5.1 AAA games in that time and received nothing for it. No playable demo, no early access, no beta tests. Nothing. My numbers are also on the downward spiral. There was a period where Paralives was making $100,000+ a month. Crunching all these numbers, the game should have released. But it won’t. It’s another Patreon scam. I guarantee there is no game at all and he’s using people hatred of EA and desire for a game. It’s odd he’s promising everything and showing nothing. No one has played this game. No one. That is a flag being waved in your face.

@@AnimationPB I don't think Paralives is a scam. I mean I DID, back before they actually showed a gameplay trailer and all they showed was build mode (and that one ziplining video.... ziplining? Really, Alex? That's your priority?), but what I do think Paralives is, is a pipe dream. Three million dollars into this game. At least another 1.5 before it even releases, assuming a release time of a year from now. And that's if it releases at all because, yeah, this is through Patreon. Eventually people are gonna feel like they're getting nothing for their three or four million dollars. They want a game, and they don't have one. You're gonna see the numbers dwindle. We were at 100k a month, now it's 50k. Don't be surprised if interest wanes and it goes down even further and Alex simply cannot afford to make development of Paralives his full-time job anymore. I'll freely admit that's the WORST-CASE scenario. But it IS a real possibility.

Sims modders have single-handedly and for free fixed issues with The Sims franchise for years. How EA is unwilling to hire them/PAY them for their work is beyond me - even Will Wright has scouted ModTheSims and The Sims Resource for devs on his newer projects, he understands these are passionate talented people - they deserve to be recognized and properly compensated for repeatedly fixing this broken franchise. It is so thankless, when modders get harassed by players it makes me ashamed to be part of this playerbase witnessing this behaviour.

It's an unfortunate reality for gaming channels that don't start and keep to a variety of games, albeit the specialty brings more subs. But imo Satch just wants to play with a company that's kinda messy so he can keep his gossip-y appeal. Hence him being more interested in Life By You than Inzoi, despite the latter showing more fledged-out direction and gameplay (and likely more future subs 'cause it's gonna get mainstream per ads).

If Sims 4 wasn't underfunded, we would see packs on par with Sims 3 packs, both on quality and content.

I was personally surprised about Paralives having no DLC. I hope fantasy/occult related stuff is released for it. I don't believe DLC in itself is exploitative, especially the earlier Sims games. The current formula for The Sims 4 is, unfortunately. It just has to be within reason, and features are not withheld to put in other DLC. Examples being, occults into multiple DLCs.

I’ve learned (the hard way) to make my videos, post and stay faaaaaar away from interacting with Sims 4 players who ONLY play Sims 4. They act demonic about that game. All these games with micro transactions is like gambling. There’s definitely an addiction there especially with those who experience fomo with these types of games. I’m definitely interested in Inzoi but Sims 4 has taught me caution. I haven’t forgotten about the Sims 4 gray map era, no toddlers, and missing pools etc.

I think most younger sim players have equated microtransactions and DLCs to status; that only games with those stuff can be considered high quality, trendy, modern, or playable. Everything else is too outdated, basic, or low-detail for their tastes. Which they're free to think, of course, but it won't be doing their budgets much good.

It just takes a day of working on it, maximum. Watch acottonsock's step by step video for the smooth patch, install the gameplay core mod from MTS, do the DXVK fix, and then install nraas mods like Overwatch and Error trap. I promise it's so worth it, I can spend hours playing the Sims 3 with all the packs and it's soooo fluid, with high quality settings as well. And I got myself a mod that fixes textures in town too, it's gorgeous. You can also install the Regul save cleaner software to clean your save from time to time if you expect to be playing a lot of generations.

I wanted memorabilia. I was not gifted a complimentary pc for my capture. I used my own. I was not paid to create content. This is my first time playing inZOI. However, I hope you all enjoy my content while exploring inZOI. This is a first for me because I mainly play The Sims 4 on my channel. I’ve been playing since The Sims 1. I have to mark my videos as paid promotion because technically the game is gifted to us. I hope to show enough gameplay to help you decide if inZOI is worth playing. At the end of the day, don’t spend money where it’s not worth it. Buy what you want, play what you want. Thank you for your comment - certainly wasn’t implying that you were one of the people who received a free gaming PC; that was in reference to the group that play tested the game last year It’s great you accepted the gifts from Krafton; you don’t need to justify your decision - just saying “I took the gifts because i wanted free stuff” is enough i agree that people should buy what they want. I also think content creators have a duty to convey realistic and accurate information about products (games) to their audience; far too often we see influencers who appear to value business relationships more than honesty. I understand how hard it could be distinguishing a real opinion, especially if something if gifted/paid/etc. I can only hope I do not represent myself that way and my excitement for Sims and potentially inZOI does not get confused with the face value. I've provided a ton of feedback in private with inZOI and I try my best to keep my love for the Sims realistic - she's a buggy mess but I love her(I'm sorry lol!). It's like an addiction for these players. They NEED to have every pack. Some call it "collecting", but given the gamble on any pack working, the desperation to just have more and more feels like an addiction. A lot of them do not care if the game or packs work, they just want more. If a game doesn't work, I ask for a refund. That's just what you do. You don't keep playing a broken game and asking it to be fixed. Not everyone is like these players though obviously. Me, I'm just sticking with Sims 1-3 because Sims4 stopped working years ago for me.

@@kendra7192 the honest reviewers are the ones who don't cut stuff or leave things unsaid. At this point, it's hard for the influencers to be able to market it while it's still in need of some major polishing and fleshed-out gameplay. So those of us intently observing the gameplay etc in their videos have a higher shot at making a fairly informed decision wtf its current state is. Just as we could with the first round of playtests which offered far less despite offering different aspects not present in the current round of playtests. But there's definitely some bias at play. I don't have a problem with KZbinrs and streamers getting sponsored to play video games. What I have a problem with is when a KZbinr gets sponsored to play a game and does not clearly Mark the video as sponsored or an ad. Sponsorships are one of the main ways that KZbinrs make money and there is nothing wrong with that. But not marking your video as such is not only disingenuous but it's also against the terms of service for KZbin and twitch. If the sponsorship is clearly marked in the title of the video and/or at the very beginning of the video then viewers will be able to think for themselves that hey this review is going to have some amount of bias in it.

It's insane how Sims players will complain about a DLC, talk about boycotting ea, but then immediately get excited and buy the next broken and underwhelming DLC. It's so sad. I'm actually quite interested in Inzoi, but I am wary of their pricing structure. If they do have microtransaction for purely cosmetic items, then I don't actually mind that. People can choose to spend their money on that if they wish. What I have an issue with is if they put gameplay behind a paywall. Again, with DLC, it does depend how it's done. I play a game called Icarus, they have a few expansion packs, but most of the gameplay updates are free. They also have smaller cosmetic dlc that is not essential to the game. When a company gives so much new content for free, I am happy to spend a little bit of money on some cosmetics occasionaly. I will give inzoi a chance, but if I feel they are being too greedy, I will happily walk away. I stopped playing sims 4 over a year ago. I got fed up with them releasing 3 packs that inculded what we had in 1 pack in the sims 3 as well as the broken buggy mess that it is and I have been a simmer since sims 1. I will also most likely be getting Paralives and Vivaland as well.

Eh. If InZOI is a well made product, and it isn't a buggy mess of spaghetti code, people are going to play it regardless. Also depends on how they price their packs and such. I think we'll get something like the early era of The Sims 3 in terms of packs and quality, *if* we're lucky. But I get the distrust with companies like this. But don't forget, most simmers issues with the franchise currently is the quality and quantity that is put behind that high paywall. If InZOI's quantity and quality is far better than what EA has been offering, simmers are going to be more willing to pay for it, especially if the game is actually playable. At the end of the day, I think it depends on how they go about MTXs, and how high the price point is for each pack, and how much content is in said pack. And you know, if there is a price point for the base game or if the base game is F2P. I'll be worried if the base game is F2P or goes F2P.

the problem is alot of sims players or "cozy game" players don't play any other games than those genres, they usually play on low end laptops or switches so they have no idea how much effort goes into or how games are made. Not all, but a large majority. so they are hugely critical on things they don't even know about. a good example for this too is the roblox game dress to impress recently got a FREE update collab and all i have seen is hate for it, when the person is putting all their time and effort making their own models in blender for FREE. people are way too spoiled now days

It is totally bizarre to keep asking for a worthy Sims competitor, but when a new competitor is in development they will rip the game into shreds. Make it make sense! I play a Korean MMORPG, and the gachapon/lootbox system is basically an online casino for 13 year olds... If you think EA is bad, Korean companies were doing this stuff first. inZOI looks fun imo, but knowing it's a Korean game, I'm expecting it to be as exploitative as Sims 4, just in a different way. But I've learned my lession a long time ago from dumping my entire first paycheck into my virtual casino when I was younger. I can navigate a game like this and not be addicted to DLC. I don't even get all the TS4 packs. I can't understand the people that pay full price on release day for every pack every single time.

Malcolm I love your humor, but I think your are conflating people who never agreed anyway. People who like Alpha CC were never gonna like a pixelart game and they don’t and have never liked Paralives. Those Alpha folks are very much shifting to InZoi and have been since the day it was announced. I notice a lot of Sims 2 ehuthiast are really drawn to Paralives and they are also proably the people most likely to play with a vanilla game or Maxis match IF they for some reason no longer have Sims 2, weren’t interested in Sims 3, and are making themselves content with Sims 4 for the time being. A consumer who might buy a game has a right not to like what they see. Plenty of amazing games that won an audience on there own merits got insanely popular because they were just that good despite not having big studio money. I have always been a Paralives stan and that would not have changed even if LBY had come out. And it won’t and hasn’t changed by any pack sims 4 brings out. Paralives has my money the second it goes up for sale. And that is true for many Paralives stans. inZoi stans are gonna buy inzoi, they want what it offers and how it looks. I do think its a bit insane tho when people are asking for the next Sims 4 DLC after one JUST dropped. Like have you even played with it? But even if the Sims 4 DLCs (which I haven’t been purchasing anyway) were perfect and flawless without a single bug, they would act this way. Those people are whales with a shopping addiction and proably collect Sims 4 packs (for some insane reason) like they gotta catch them all like Pokemon or something. A lot of people aren’t that hyped about Vivaland and that’s unfortunate, but there has never been a huge interest in multiplayer and they have been struggling to find an audience really into it and have even tried to say ‘single player will exist’ but have not shown much that makes it feel like it would be worth it. And it seems you found the comments you wanted to find because all I’ve seen is a pretty predictable divide amongst people who are Pro-Paralives vs Pro-InZoi. (And on the flip side anti-Paralives vs anti-InZoi). When Sims 3 came out there were many people who preferred Sims 2, went back, and have stuck with it since. There’s gonna be folks who shift to InZoi, folks who shift to Paralives, and folks who stick with Sims 4. And there are people who are gonna crap on the game that they don’t think is worth it, but it has not changed how big InZoi’s or Paralives’ positive followings are. I honestly at most I see all three with their core followers chipping at the EA ruling class, but none of them toppling it. There is no big “all simmers” mindset like the one you seem to infer exist. There are very much divided camps and that’s honestly fine.

And then there is the small percent of players who don't care about the US vs them mentality and will play all three. I still play Sims 1-3 and sometimes I'll poke at Sims 4 even though I haven't bought a pack or updated in years. I'm excited for both paralives and inzoi because even though they're both life Sims they will each bring something new and different to the table. So I'll never understand why people feel one has to be superior over the others. At the end of the day they're games meant for us to have fun.

I play TS3 because when TS4 was released, it was broken and I just couldn't get into it, and there were so many expansion packs right from the start rather than fixing the game. So while I barely remember anything about TS4, I am very happy that you can actually turn the TS3 shop items turning up in your menu off. You can play the game offline. I was hyped up for inzoi, because I am a sucker for the graphics, but now I am hearing about micro transactions, I won't be the first person to buy it when it releases. Because I resent micro transactions. I started gaming around '99 and I grew up without that nonsense, and have stayed clear from it. So I guess I'll only be buying Paralives then, when it finally releases.

Hi, Malcolm. Your video popped up on my home screen this morning and I was intrigued, lol. I've watched some of your previous videos and I like your humor. I was a little saddened to see you used me as your example of "waxing poetic". If you've watched my content you know I am very much against micro-transactions. I've said it a few times in the vids and I've commented it countless times in my replies to people that are hoping the base game is "free". I've been a long time Sims player, but I have never been someone with unrealistic expectations. In fact, I've cautioned people many times in my replies to be patient and realistic for inZOI as it is still under development and we just don't know everything yet. And I am definitely not someone to throw out the baby with the bath water. I can't understand the vehement anger towards the Sims and actually hoping for their demise. I can never share those feelings (not saying that is you, of course). They need to fix their current extensive list of bugs which grows with every pack & they most definitely need to slow their roll with pack releases so they aren't released with more bugs... yes, it needs to be said and brought to their attention for action but I am not for burning down the house. That is why I am hoping that inZOI might make them wake up and do better. I still want the Sims to succeed so we can have a better playing experience. I have too many years of fond memories with the Sims to just throw them in the trash. For full disclosure on inZOI: I do not have the game, I have never been contacted by the company, and I will always be honest in sharing my opinions (even if they did contact me in the future). I will always be my own person. When I finally have the game in my hands, can my opinions change? Of course! But for now, I am genuinely excited with what I am seeing and very keen on playing it when it's available. My channel is literally only 6 weeks old and navigating this new content creator life has been challenging balancing it with my real full time engineering job. It can be tiring but it is also rewarding to be part of a new emerging community that I hope can be kind to one another and accepting of differing opinions without toxicity. I think we can point out flaws and shortcomings without burning down the whole house (for any game). I have always touted that there is room for all the life sim games coming out now. All of them. I know it is not the same, but as an outsider who only casually plays Sims every once and a while and got this video recommended to me it is funny to see half of this video talking about one community being unfairly critical over unspecified things with other games due to lack of funds, while the other half of this video is shitting on another game that is not out yet and a big unknown. I have never heard of inZOI before this, but from what I can tell it is unknown what the monetization scheme will be. I assume it will be similar to Sims 4. The main issue with Sims 4 is not the 1000s of dollars of DLC, but the lack of what those DLCs come with for the high price, so the question becomes if this game could be better or not. I mention this because you mentioned Life by You in the loads of unfair criticism part, but lets be real here Paradox is known for it's insane amounts of overpriced DLC and there is no way that game would have been any better.

every game made by krafton has micro transactions and they’re often quite egregious; this is a fact. i was also worried about LBY’s monetization model, but it was quite obvious Paradox would be following its DLC/expansion pack model as they do with nearly all their games (which, at times, can be egregious as well) With inZOI, the extent to which micro transactions will exist is still very much unknown and I have little to no faith in Krafton as a company not to nickel and dime consumers.
