The new release jams! Maybe it's just me and my car audio system but the highs on the cymbals tend to be a little mushy if I had to critique one thing. Might just be my equipment/ear

An Ibanez Gio in Drop D on a Marshall sounds Good too . Your tone is Chunky and Razor sharp

It's a tough world when you LOVE to squeal, pinch harmonics or as I like to call them... Squidly doots, but the best recorded tone has less gain with possibly an added 2-3 db eq boost in the upper midrange to get it to stand out. Don't even get me started on really low tuning. :)

Pretty dope guitar tones. And even more impressive is seeing JST Menace in there, as it has been released a good while ago and probably wouldn't be one of my first choices.

I’ve always seen that Menace plug-in but never got it. That’s awesome that you used it for this. Sounds killer. So you only record one track for left guitar and one track for right guitar? You don’t double?

Correct! The only album I've ever been a part of with quad tracked rhythms is Chimaira's Self Titled record. And well, I think the guitar tone on that album speaks for itself!🤘

I've got the "Menace" plug in in my DAW and never thought of using it.... thanks for reminding us it sounds killer !!! Btw, the more I listen to Menace (the EP) the more I think it's a killer album, one of my top metal offerings from 2023.

Really cool. I would not have expected that. I remember going through an insanely long list of presets and amps with a recording engineer while tracking my songs a few years back, and didn’t like a single one. Turns out pro tools has that amp in it stock? That would have been nice to know 😆. But I’ve also learned quite a bit since then. Like you said, the tones that sound good while playing by yourself, are usually not the ones that will sound good in a mix. This Rob, this is really cool.

I used the tone forge menace on a song for a customer back in I think 2017. To this day when I work with him (currently have a project with him now) he still raves about that guitar tone and overall mix I did on the song. Just like a week ago I emailed JST and refreshed my install for menace and I figure I’ll try to use it on another one of his songs if it fits. Only problem is here lately he’s been giving me more rock songs to work with so I’ve been using my ML sound labs ml800 plugin which is a killer plugin for rock.

Very cool video Rob. I love the “use the tool that’s right for the job” comment. With so many amazing guitar plug ins out there, it’s cool you used mostly an out of the box one and got the killer sound that you did. It’d be cool to see a very similar video but for the drum sound you got on Menace. I believe you use Superior Drummer, right?
@RobArnoldWorld11 ай бұрын
Hey thanks man! Yep, my go-to kit is the NY Avatar kit in SD2. I pretty much use it on everything, with some manipulation on a per-project basis of course. But I think it may be time for something new soon! 🤘🥁
@jeremyv301011 ай бұрын
@@RobArnoldWorld - Awesome. I really want to try Superior Drummer. I use GetGoodDrums alongside their Smash and Grab plugin and they sound great. I also bought the new EZDrummer. I don’t use it for the drum tones but this new version has a ton of really cool songwriting and drum programming tools. They have this new “humanize” feature that allows you to easily transform a beat “on the grid” into a much more human beat by changing velocity and placement of the hits. It’s a game changer.

Love the guitar tone on this album. I'm sure that your gonna get asked why use amp sims to the record the album. Instead of just using your amps. After watching all the amp sims video's lately I can see why you have gone with this choose. Your reply to my Question Maybe you should do one with your guitar. The guitar that came to mind was the video that you did for how to intonate a guitar. The video was done about 4 years ago now. I'm not to sure how often you use that guitar or if you still got it Rob.

So with Chimaira doing at least a few shows this upcoming year, hopefully with quite a few more specifically in Nashville 😉, have you ever thought of playing your solo album tracks live?
@RobArnoldWorld11 ай бұрын
Sure! But not with Chimaira. It would be the other way around where if I went and did some shows as Rob Arnold, I'd do a mix of my solo material, some Chimaira tunes, some Elite tunes, etc. A little something for everyone! Would you come see the show?
@calitheguitarist11 ай бұрын
@@RobArnoldWorld well that IS what I meant. If you were open to doing like a solo tour and playing these tracks live. Hellyeah I’d be at the show.
