I absolutely love ESP guitars. I have a couple myself, including a custom shop. Just got back from Japan and I visited 3 of their craft houses. The guys were super cool and let me try out any guitars I wanted to, regardless of the price, which was very kind of them.

Hey Rob, Thanks for your videos! Guitars look INSANE!!!! With regards to the RA3, if ESP had to recreate it or bring out edition of them... noting that a lot of new guitars lately are coming out with Fishman pickups, would you prefer to have EMG81 as yours is/ the original, or have it "updated" with the Fishman pickups? Quite curious on the pickup selection as it seems like the EMG's are less used in modern times. Its a dream of mine to own a ESP RA3, absolutely love it! closest to a good ESP that I own is a LTD EC-50. Thanks so much Rob!

I always thought it was weird the RA-600 was Gibby scale. I remember when it first came out I did a total double take. I figured you wanted a slinkier feel on the strings. Eventually I saw on here that it just came like that and you didn’t really notice. I find it kinda funny how good you play while not really being a guitar spec nerd like a lot of us. I always obsess about the perfect specs, but I’ll never be able to play like you. It’s super cool you reply to all comments. To me it’s like Kirk Hammett being on KZbin and interacting. I like the H-307 headstock but I think they could have found a slightly better place to put the logo. It’s a bit weird how it’s right over to the edge. And that RA-4 paint job is so cool. I’ll definitely pick up an RA-600 if I ever come across one for sale.

Yes Rob, auto body shops, absolutely. I had a good friend of mine that was a painter at a hot rod shop. I worked for him as his prepper. His work had been on the cover of car magazines and TV. And he was a Guitar player. We took on a lot of custom paint jobs and repair work on guitars. He had an in with a buddy at Guitar Center. That whenever they got a guitar that had a bashed corner. They'd give him with a screaming deal on it. He would repair it and you couldn't even tell it was ever damaged. And we're talking about some really custom colors. So yeah you're thinking the right thing. Since you have a friend in the business. Id definitely take advantage of that. And man, I wish I could go to Cleveland next month. I've always wanted to see you guys, live. P.S. I am an old dude that has Old Fenders, Gibsons and Charvels. Love them. But my son-in-law just got back from Japan. With a brand-new ESP Arrow. Holy GOD. What a guitar. You've got me crishin' that RA-4 with that "Strat" styling. Have a great show.

I did a couple videos about him. It's one of my early ones. look for the blue drag race Camaro in the thumbnail. His work will blow your mind. His name was Frank. Also, I have been doing this You Tube thing for 5 years now. You are really good at it. I hope this is successful for you and you keep doing it. It sure is a lot of hard work.

Rob out of curiosity why did you go 24-3/4 instead of the traditional 25.5 for a super strat style body on your sig model. If you’ve covered this on a previous video I do apologize 😅😅

There's actually no real reason behind it to tell you the truth. A long time luthier buddy of ours helped design and spec out all of Matt DeVries and my customs, and he suggested the shorter scale. We didn't argue. I don't really notice any difference between my 24.75" guitars, and my 25.5" guitars. However, when they start to get longer, like on baritones or 7's, I definitely notice, and miss the shorter scale!

Bring back the ra600. Hey rob I just got my first m series. It has emg 81 85 and is flat black with reverse headstock its the closest thing I could find to an ra 600. It would be cool to be able to get a rob Arnold signature loaded pick guard so you could make a normal m series into the rob Arnold style with the single pickups and the single volume knob that sits way out of the way. If I end up making my own rob Arnold out of this m series ill keep you posted on that.

I had my first guitar repainted by a guy that worked at an auto body shop. He matched the original metallic silver paint exact. It turned out great. If you’re into really thin finishes it might not be the best choice.

My guess is the new surprise guitar is a KH model even though I vaguely remember you said you don't have a lot of love for other artists' signature guitars. Maybe that's a conversation I had with someone else? Anyway, I assume it has to have a floyd if you're going to play it in drop C for the show. Plus, you love the M-series shape with a reverse headstock. It should be a model that is still in production even though you've had your eye on it "for a really long time." A KH checks all of those boxes. But I'm probably wrong and when you reveal it I'm going to say OF COURSE IT'S THAT ONE! 🤦‍♂

The auto-shop is absolutely the route to go Rob. I bought my first ever electric guitar from eBay when I was 13, a dirt cheap B.C Rich Warlock... I was so devastated when it arrived and I noticed that the lower point of the guitar had a huge paint chip, very similar to your RA-4! My grandad suggested taking it to my next door neighbour, who owned and operated a body shop. I was so hesitant, I couldn't see it being restored, and by a car guy?? To my shock, I got that thing back a day or so later, you'd never know what happened... It looked absolutely perfect!!! Love the videos as always man, I've been a fan of yours, Chimaira, and the channel for so long! 🤘🤘

I had a feeling Chimaira would ride again. Yeah it's only 3 gigs (for NOW) but I would not be surprised at all to see a full Tour and possibly new music on the future. Especially considering there's been a huge demand for them to reconvene for quite a while. Saw them but happenstance in December of 2001 as the opener for Slayer in Universal Studios. They were incredible and even better October 2005 on The Blackest of Black Tour (same venue).

Rob hi, what favorite height for emg pick ups on your guitars?

I just try and get them up close to the strings, but in a way where they don't interfere with the strings in any way. And I'll often raise my treble side slightly higher in an effort to help my leads cut through the mix!

I built a strat copy with scalloped neck using Warmoth parts and had the body painted by an auto body man. Just a solid color. Turned out great.

Dude I’m sure they will do a run of guitars if you go through a distributor and get a commitment list. I’m sure you have a contact to ask as ESP. I’m not much a fan of 24.75 but regardless, if there IS a run put my fucking name down, guaranteed! Are your customs 24.75” scale or 25.5”? Also, I own a bodyshop here in Gilbert, AZ and have done tons of guitar work. That could be repaired but keep in mind, over time you will see witness marks of the repair as different materials expand and contract at different rates (like how you can see multi piece body lines through the clear, see the waves of flame maple later on when inspecting it under light, etc. I’ve done plenty of touch ups where I black pigment epoxy, fill, carefully scrape as level as possible with the masking tape height guide method on a razor blade, hand water sand/block the remaining amount and buff and you need to be 1” away to barely see it. Black is the easiest to patch up.

Really digging your channel, I'm 100% new to your band Chimaira, and have been checking out what I've missed. Great band, love the music. It's just really pretty great to hear someone talk in such an always positive light, I have mostly enjoyed hearing you speaking and descriptions of all this, it's the info a fellow guitarist wants to hear. Watched quite a few of your Floyd Rose videos, stellar information. I've played Floyds off and on since the late 80's, but I always have a guitar or two with a Floyd Rose and your videos kinda gave me some extra perspective with them. I recon that chip at the bottom of the guitar would be an easy fix. A few years ago I was playing standing up and my guitar strap broke and my guitar dropped off and before I had a chance to catch it the headstock of my PRS hit the edge of my practice amp and chipped the top off of it. I was really upset about it. Lucky I found a guitar custom shop and they fixed it up for me and I couldn't even tell it was ever damaged.
