Sweet sweet drummin'.. feels good inside and out.. Thank you for this video.. I've been hitting things since the Beatles but everyday I am a beginner again.. Having been self-taught my journey is sort of 'backwards'.. a honing-in so to speak.. Your videos are incredible.. you're a natural teacher as well as a drummer.. The world goes crazy and we drummers simply march on with nothing but paradiddles and flamacues floating in our heads ;)

What track are you playing with at the beginning of the video?

I've been using this same pattern morphed out of straight triplets (Bonham style), in solos and fills. Really helps make it more musical and interesting. Also try RRLLF in between for some added spice. And of course, you can change up the voicings all over the kit. Very fun and effective. You can start with the foot or the right hand.

great video. I believe it would be good to note that 16th note fills like this work best when used in conjunction with triplet based licks in order to maintain a jazz swing feel

Alright I've seen this before and never been able to ask, BUT are those chewed up parts on your sticks from rim shots or is that something you do to them?! As always though, GREAT videos, Rob. You're always posting inspirational and useful tips. Thank you!

cody townsley Rimshots, man. I found an old pair of Vic 85As in my basement and they've become my new fav pair to play with. I'm squeezing every last hit I can get out of em before I order my next crop 🙂

+Kenyon Sise I think it's called 'Feeling Good, Louis'. It's off a play along album I got a few years ago called 'Turn It Up 4'. All the tunes I've been using for this jazz series is from that album
