WOW! Thank you sooo much Sami, I really don't think I'm a good pianist, I don't even read music, so thank you!
@stokkernk13 жыл бұрын
@Angop96 Thank you very much!! No music written only carefully listening to the original and a lot of work to put it on piano:) Some parts were very difficoult, for example the cross hands before the mellotron, but a friend told me how to do, explained to me the tecnique Banks used for it, and in a moment all was clear! one hand plays the note of a three-note chord, alternating to the other hand that plays a four-note chord...
@stokkernk13 жыл бұрын
@Marillionboy Thank you. I worked a lot to make every note clear. Banks's solo in this song is paticular, goes fast and slow, so many notes in a second. I'm happy I've done a good job, thank you again!
@stokkernk11 жыл бұрын
I know this isn't the perfect replica of Robbery, especially in the solo section, the tempos are not the real tempos but only my version. Sometimes I leave the music as I feel I can play it... My limits. But I'm very happy you enjoy it: Thanks for the comment!

Did you made a cover of this brilliant composition already Pino?
@stokkernk14 жыл бұрын
@jimzushi Oh, it's a great mistery for all the Genesis and Bank's fans! My personal opinion is that with the early set up of the band, with Gabriel, till the Wind and wutering set up, with Collins-Rutherford-Hackett, his creativity and his music were balanced by the others in a perfect way, and performed in a special way: the art of the others, and the sound of the electronic and guitar instruments of those years made his compositions truly outstanding.

@BAMAMARV Thank you again Bamamarv! You made my day! Comments like yours are very very important for me. I understand what is good and what is not, and this is important to play in a better way. So, again, thank you:)

Stunning. That keyboard solo is frighteningly complex and I like the delicacy you brought to it so I could actually really distinguish the notes and hear the detail. Its an extraordinary piece of music.

@MoveOverCasanova oh, thank you very very much! That part was an enigma for me!! But one day a friend of mine, one of the members of the italy Genesis-cover band "revelation", suggested me the way Banks probably did it. It's a little tricky, and I'll post a video for you to explain!

I love this version, especially the "looseness" of tempi that helps bring out the drama of the piece on the solo keyboard. It's up there with David Myer's transcription as the best I've ever heard (you should check his albums out, if you haven't already). You are great; please MOAR! --Christian

Great job overall. You didn't mess with TB's gorgeous chord progressions too much, which is good. I thought the tempo in the solo section wasn't quite strict enough, but then again, it's probably one of the tougher TB solos. I have yet to learn it. Other than that, great work! Sorry I couldn't leave a comment in Italian :/

@stokkernk --- I had to watch this again & I'm still blown away. You capture all the instruments well on just an acoustic piano & nail the solo including the Tony Banks cross-handed style. The dynamics are great also. My only critique is the end refrain where it goes "Done me wrong, same old song" is in 4/4, but you play two 9/4 measures before going 4/4, and the very last measure is missing the sus-4/resolve notes at the end. I know that's picky & I'm sorry for that --- you deserve better. LOL
@MoveOverCasanova13 жыл бұрын
@MoveOverCasanova yeah, enigma is the right word! i got it finally "somehow" by extremely slowing it down with my dads record player, but it is still impossible to play! look forward to your explanation!!
@Dustydreams93013 жыл бұрын
@stokkernk Indeed, though it would be a very sophisticated metronome to cope with the rhythm changes in this song!
@stokkernk14 жыл бұрын
@hegelec Thank you very very much, Christian!! I know Myer's version of Robbery, and it's absolutely brilliant! I do not have the technique to do something like that, but I'm very happy that you enjoyed my version too!

@MoveOverCasanova13 жыл бұрын
@stokkernk yes - i had to add a picture and turn it into a "film" - should be on soon,- surely my version is not at all as instrumentally brillant, i´m not the greatest player,- it is a multitrack workstation cover, and i tried to stay close to the original -- it is a kind of mixture of the "trick of the tail" - and "seconds out" - version.. moc
@stokkernk14 жыл бұрын
It's difficoult, no one can say that is a simple song to arrange and play for piano, but I think that is not so difficoult as it seems... I don't read the music, I learn genesis songs by carefully listen to the original recordings. The idea of play with other you tube musicians is great, but I think that one must record with the metronome. Anyway, thank you very very much!!

Mi piace molto invece 2:18 in poi. Complimenti di nuovo. P.S. Firth of Fifth è perfetta! sarebbe bello se riuscissi a farla tutta ;-)

The streets were deserted though the police were alerted They considered the phone call a hoax. Furtively glancing then jauntily prancing The youth caught the guards unaware Slipping between them he ought to have seen then The eyes and their owner so near With torch shining bright he strode on in the night Till he came to the room with the safe "Hello son, I hope you're having fun." "You've got it wrong Sir, I'm only the cleaner." With that he fired, the other saying as he died "You've done me wrong, " It's the same old song forever, forever Robbery, assault and battery The felon and his felony Robbery, assault and battery The felon and his felony He picked up the diamonds and bundles of fivers And pushed them well down in his sack But the alarm had been sounded, he was completely surrounded But he had some more tricks up his sleeve "Come outside with your hands held high." "You'll not get me alive Sir, I promise you that Sir." With that he fired, the other saying as he died "You've done me wrong, " It's the same old song forever, forever Robbery, assault and battery The felon and his felony Robbery, assault and battery The felon and his felony "He's leaving via the roof, the bastard's got away. God always fights on the side of the bad man, Bad man, bad man, bad man." "I've got clean away but I'll be back some day, Just the combination will have changed. Some day they'll catch me, to a chain they'll attach me But until that day I'll ride the old crime wave If they try to hold me for trial I'll stay out of jail by paying my bail And after I'll go to the court of appeal saying 'You've done me wrong, ' it's the same old song forever, forever." Done me wrong same old song done me wrong Same old song - done me wrong - same old song Done me wrong same old song done me wrong Same old song done me wrong same old song Done me wrong same old song done me wrong Same old song done me wrong same old song
