Interesting video as i didn't know one could program a AKL that way by just creating a dealer key. I thought the instrument cluster needed to be removed and the chip read to do the AKL. Great video and a good learning experience. Thanx

Pre 2012 I believe do not have to be removed. I do a lot of 2008 by obd

What dealer wanted $1300? Local dealer does them all day long for 1hr programming. Key come cut & precoded from VW so it just goes in quickly for them

Keep in mind I do charge extra if I have to drive an hour away for example if I drive 60 Mi I will charge $120 to $180. For example I will charge what I call Window Seat time.

It was the one in Reading, PA. The bmw dealer also quoted a customer $1600 for a 2008 X5. Chrysler wanted $700 for a fobik for a 15 ram too. There was a time here where keys were outrageous if you lost them all.

First digit of Vin is a 3 which means made in Mexico see any vin decoder site for more info

When you remove the cylinder you have to partially disassemble it by taking out the tailpiece and the Spring. You can't Lishi it while it's spring-loaded.

Correction. Its far more difficult to lishi while the spring is giving counter rotation force.

I use the key reader all the time did one last night and read the key wafers, cut the key and it worked first try. You still have to lube it up and make sure the Wafers are loose so you can get a good read on it

I think it was the middle of winter when I filmed this and I don't think I had both lishis. I cannot remember. There is Two different lishis for these and one works better depending on the lock generation

I would love to make one to keep at all time ans save myself the stress of doing something extra for the kind of days when nothing works on the field lol. thanks in advance. On one end, I tired cuts 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 4 & on the other end I did 4 1 1 4 1 1 4 1.

yes thse cuts actually worked and I am almost sure it is identical to yours. Used it to pick an 04 beetle 2 days ago. I went straight to the lock, sprayed some houdini into it then used the blade@@RobertDotterer
