I know what I'm talking about, I have owned and have had 650s, Ferrari 458, F12, Portofino, 992 GT3, Nissan GTR, AMG GTR, I'm 2.03m tall it took me forever to position myself correctly in the 675 Spider. It took at least as long for the chassis to be adjusted correctly, so it was optimally set for my needs for both track and country roads. Conclusion: I love this car and I will never sell it unless I absolutely have to.

A good honest evaluation on 675LT’s It confirms my feelings on why i bought a 720s. A 675LT is a great drivers car but you can get similar from a 600LT and a 720s is an infinitely better road car. Also the exclusivity has been watered down with over 1,000 of them being made Only time will tell but the 765LT is a more advanced car and will I think in time consign the 675LT to being less desirable

Brilliant cars, but a nightmare ownership proposition. I’ve owned a 675LT Spider, 650 Spider, 720s Coupe and now a 600LT Spider. 3 weeks after my 675 was delivered Mclaren announced the 720s, much faster and a lot cheaper. Too annoying for words. 6 months after delivery of my 720s Mclaren were offering them for £50k off list! Sold mine after 18 months with just 1,000 miles on the clock for £125,000 less than I paid for it! Sold the 675 after 2 years (800 miles) for £130,000 less than I paid for it and then 6 days later the gearbox packed up on the new owner (a very expensive fix). Bought a new 600LT Spider for £55,000 off list which I have to say is the best of the lot of them but have now finally thrown in the towel - I’ll never buy another Mclaren again. Money pits with a dealership support worse than you could ever imagine.
@Vangent873 жыл бұрын
I think McLaren have been their own worst enemy. They started strong with the 12C it was a revolutionary car and really highlighted what technology and active aero could do. Then they moved to the 650S and 675LT and from the first drive in that car everyone said it was a game changer, it’s ridiculously fast and up to that point could’ve beaten anything from competitor on track and was actually pretty reliable, rather than build on that they went crazy and started releasing model after model and 14 different variants of a model and none of them were really that reliable and the values were tanking within a year because 2 different variants had already been released or announced making your car less special. I don’t have so much beef with releasing a 675LT coupe and a 675LT spyder, it’s the number of spyders they released. Ferrari done it similarly with the 458 Speciale, they released the coupe and then the Aperta but the Aperta was so limited that they still sell for $600,000+ usd. a 675LT spyder sells for about $250,000 usd and that’s actually an increase from a year ago. If McLaren could get out of their own way and stop focusing on releasing 4 models a year and 23 variants and focus on limiting production and increasing quality they’d be back on top. They’ve got the name recognition, they build good looking cars and everyone knows how capable they are but everyone knows the quality is awful and wait 6 months and buy it half off second hand. I’ve driven a 675LT and a 765LT my god they’re night and day and I think if you drive one you’ll think so too, it might actually be as fast as a Senna and it sounds good, it has a different sound under load it’s deeper and louder I was impressed.

Mini brands are their own worst enemy. It’s quite frustrating when you’re a fan and knowing what they should be able to do. You see it in many segments but mclaren is mastering it.

I agree, I think if they play it right and follow advice which I’m sure they’re hearing and getting the Senna, 765LT could be the first step forward on the right track. Similar to the P1, 675LT without driving it off the rails.

Robert I completely agree McLaren were a bit naughty with the numbers but they are not the only one, Ford did the same with the Ford GT they specified 1 amount then pushed the numbers up then did it again so those who paid large sums of money for the exclusivity of having such a limited car then felt Ford had lied to them quite a few sold the car before Ford released yet another batch.

My point to subject, I wouldn't mind to have X amount of Mclaren cars. TIP for audio recording during solo vids keep mic always on instead voice activation it messes the volume levels and takes the sound scene space away to dead silence then to go very loud with some disturbance on your first word to level to well balanced again with some echo. I am on headphones

Thank you Robert! Awesome in garage car review talk; quick of the starting line, setting the New Year pace 😃 Practical sense, the audio appears to cut out when you pause for thought, and the lapel mic, if it has the usual interview shape, usually is more effective mounted bit lower and upside down, just as with the news crew 👍 (less peaking, less distortion, balanced, better sound) Hope this helps with your future videos, thank you :)

Even though I'm brazilian I've never cared or knew this much about McLarens, until I started watching your channel. Now I finally understand their differences and nuances. I guess McLaren's terrible tier 3 marketing is to blame. I've already started saving money to visit Apex, and hopefully feel the experience for myself! To bad we can't do laps back to back on each McLaren you own!

Enjoyed the video. I hope Mclaren are in regular contact with you at a senior level, there can’t be many other customers better qualified to give feedback on their products. Would love to get your opinion on the 765 around the track, seems to be mixed opinions but not sure all these tier 1 media guys have the skills to judge this type of vehicle.

We do have some great contacts there but I think they should utilize it much more than I do.

Robert couple of ideas for you. What about some sort of local area wise guide for us travellers visiting the n,ring area. Where we could stay,(big plug for your hotel obviously) but what about the others in the area..where are the best restaurants and bars while we are visiting, anything else we should definitely do whilst at the ring etc, history or great back roads you know the sort of things petrol heads are gonna want to see..

I think mclaren where pumping out the models near as quick as a vw golf. Really looking forward to tomorrow’s video.

I understand you’ve, very graciously, pushed back the Team Schirmer E36 project to allow someone else’s car to be built, but I’m really excited to see that (even over the E30)!

Yes I think the 36 will be pretty 🔥🔥🔥

I can´t tell you how much i appreciate the calm/simple and cool settings for your videos. No offence to other youtubers, but sometimes watching videos edited to the max and the screen/focus moving around like crazy is quite annoying at times, it also take away from the actual story. As an olderr gent myself, i am really exited about your E30 M3. I will follow that build with a binoculars. I had a very nice E30 325 slightly tuned back in the day. Loved that car in every way, well besides maybe trying to get from A to B in the snow...hahaha

I am glad that you enjoy this style of video! I know that we are going to have to eventually put some B roll in and shots of the cars being built, right now we are working on the concept for that so that it stays calm and relaxing in the same manner. I’m really excited to start presenting that

Make sure you reinforce the chassis for safety Robert! On such an old car (M3) the crash structure would be scary

I’ve done some research and the car is decent. Of course not perfect my any means and a concern. No high speed autobahn blasts scheduled ;-)

A breakdown of the maintenance costs and about the reliability of these cars would be interesting. Especially because I am planning on buying a 650s or 570s this year (which should be slightly cheaper as a 675lt) ... But if the yearly costs exceed 12.000 Euros (insurance / extended warranty included), i´ll look out for a Porsche GT3 ...

Buy the Porsche. It’s the Honda Civic of supercars and it holds its value WAY better than a McLaren. 👍

In the US, McLarens consistently take a major depreciation hit in the first few years. Best time to buy them is used a few years after release. Porsche and Ferrari don't have as big of a problem with this.

I really enjoy how you can explain the characteristics of the car, how it handles, how it reacts, downsides etc. It's one of the reasons I started following you beside that you are cool guy that has same passion :-) I found out that i enjoy watching also e-bike vids too even through Im not the one who would or could buy one

Hey Robert. Hard to believe soon it’ll be a year since lockdown when I subscribed. When you’re down in Florida you should stop by Obsessed Garage. Matt the owner reminds me a lot like yourself.
