Thanks for the updates. I am SO glad to see your kitty is healthy and happy! When I saw the video of him on the ground getting CPR, that broke me. Seeing him now, that makes me happy. Also, props for properly folding and strapping your pinball machine as you did. That's the proper way! Pro tip: a pool noodle cut and slitted to 6" pieces can be used on the top edge of your backbox to protect both it and the rails. :) I own several machines, and this is what I do when it comes time to move them.

Architect here: Always, and I mean ALWAYS provide a porta potty for construction workers. You do not, EVER, want them use your personal bathroom regularily. This is not to be meant disrespectful towards the construction workers, but they are usually in a hurry and some, again - only some, don´t really care or lack any basic sanitary education.

It was lucky rachel acted when she did and called the fire department straight away. Had it of been any later i think the whole house would have burnt down. I'm glad they both got out safe with the cat. It's hard on both of them espech bob losing things hes owned for years you can't replace it. Hey Bob. If you’re walking through the house you really should be wearing a respirator. Take it from somebody that has respiratory failure, you don’t want to be inhaling fine particulates. Especially if asbestos is involved. Wear a respirator rated for chemical exposure. One that has an activated charcoal filter. Your lungs are something you don’t want to mess with.

When there is zero emotional bond to any of the destroyed belongings it's easy to get right down to brass tacks. All in all the proverbial "silver lining" to this dark cloud is it appears you will be back IN your abode a lot quicker than anticipated. Unless they completely strip the home, you will always get faint smells of smoke throughout the house no matter how thorough of a cleaning they do. The smoke has been absorbed into the studs and rafters and they'll need to be removed or shellacked.

You can get a ozone machine...will actually remove practically 100% of bad odors. We use them in car detailing where some of the most atrocious of foul odors and smells have occurred.

Unless you have literally everything cataloged down to the last item, they hope that it's done super quick to save them money and you just accept the check - again, to save them time and money. You really do need to go through this with a notepad and write it all down item by item. They aren't trying to necessarily scam you, so much as they want to move quick and get on to the next job. As far as rescuing stuff, it's all already considered trash. So it won't reduce the amount for small items, but you are right - anything that can be replaced, catalog and replace. Also, before you have a fire, do a catalog of everything at least once a year. Most stuff won't change, but, for instance, my collection of old PS2/3/4 games - if I didn't have a list of what I have, I'd never even know what to replace as it's several hundred titles.

Get a new glucose meter. I bought a Contour Next. It connects to my phone via Bluetooth and logs the readings in an app. I love it. I got it OTC at Walgreens. Wasn’t that expensive. Money well spent compared to high blood sugar. Insurance should replace your meds. Take care of yourself.
