Ms Zakharova never seems rushed and she completes each movement fully. She must be magic because she's incredibly talented. She expresses emotion so naturally, and her arms and hands are so graceful and delicate.

Roberto Bolle was a teenager when I took over the direction of the Ballet at La Scala, and as artistic supervisor of the School, I worked with him often, particularly in preparing school performances. His teacher and Anna Maria Prina must be proud of this great artist that has delighted the World for so many years.

Why j writz this ? Because the live is very far from all the videos Y Tube the stage in live very important so j can write j saw j known very well the first international-dancers , for me men : Noureev Baryschnikov Schauffus- Khalfouni in live 1977 Marseille Opera , Denard ( 1970 ) . J have never saw Roberto Bolle in live but j can write he is a historic dancer j saw by videos , for me thete are two International dancers j prefer Roberto Bolle ( with videos Y T ) and Mickael Denard perhaps one degree above Bolle . Itxs necessary j repeat that before 1978 there was no VHS - Internet and to day in fact audience don't known great dancers ballerinas before 1980 ' so Ghislaine Thesmar * Giselle-Atanassoff * Pontois Dupont ( Sleeping-beauty ) Mickael Denard ( Oiseau de Feu 1970 ) For men for me j known j prefer two International dancers Mickaël Denard * in live * Roberto Bollet ( videos ) all others dancers after except of course R Noureev ! It's necessary j repeat that famous dancers before 1980' are forgotten to day because no videos on Y T ; Roberto Bolle is lucky to have all his carreer on Y T with videos no for others great da'cers before 1980' pity

This video is in my library, and every so often I re- watch it to see the best Giselle. Bolle is able to make her appear as if she is the weight of a feather. Svetlanàs Giselle, what can I say other than when I want to see best, I watch her. Every movement of hers conveys the love and the agony that is Giselle. Her footwork is incredible. So quick and sharp, exactly the type of footwork Balanchine demanded of his dancers. And for the most part the audience refrained from clapping until the movement was over. I wish all other audiences could do the same.

Angie Callahan - lol - I wondered what that was all about for a minute :). There are two elements to that, one is that Svetlana seems to have an un-natural ablilty to float any part of her body whenever the fancy takes her, and the other is that Roberto has an un-natural ability to partner her/any ol ballerina that he is asked to, to so show them off to their absolute best. He is such a generous dancer ,,,and person. The way he allows her to go off balance, and at no point worry about it, whilst looking as if she is no heavier than a pillow full of down, and all the time looking so beautiful himself is beyond me lol.

She is a really beautiful dancer it's just... idk... i just never see her in the character. i always see Zacharova acting as giselle but not being giselle. Osipova's giselle was truly astonishing!! she literally was giselle. It's pretty much the only thing i don't really like about her perfomances. otherwise, her technique and legs are OMG so perfect.

For all her perfect technique, she falls into the trap of over-extension at some points which is completely out of style with the period and mood of the ballet

John Fraser Ballet evolves... There is not one Ballerina now who on a professional level would be allowed to dance this role without an extension above a certain height. It is not easy. Svetlana doesn’t just whack her legs up. She is extremely controlled.

I was lucky enough to see them both perform Giselle on 4th October. I have to say that they have developed the role so much, the story telling even though good in the video is now far more natural and they have found nuances and little looks and angles that bring such a lot to it. I love this video, it is my bench mark for Giselle performances by anyone, but they dance it soooo much better now, if that is possible.

Sveta's extensions are unreal. She is as good as they come... While I prefer the fire and acting of Natalia Osipova in Don Quixote and Giselle, there is no denying Sveta's talents.

It’s not just her extensions, she floats across the floor in her steps more so than Osipova, I overall prefer her over Osipova even though Osipova clearly is better at more difficult jumps and spins. But ballet isn’t about just jumps and spins, it’s the whole package that for this role Svetlana has above Natalia

Roberto and Svetlana have a special partnership - no matter what they dance they always seem to dance as one...but this always leaves me howling my head off - it is so beautiful. Roberto is every womans dream Prince, and every dancers dream partner, While Svetlana is incomparably elegant, and light - she almost floats around the stage. I am privileged enough to be going to watch them both in 4 weeks in Giselle at Teatro alla Scala....not the first time I have seen them dance but my first Giselle with them both. I have watched this video so many times I hope they dont make too many changes lol -- I have every step ingrained on my memory :)

It was fabulous - I am going to go again in October to see them do it all over. However - I was a tad disappointed because of the ending - Svetlana didnt sink down into the grave with Roberto grasping the rose as if willing her not to go...I always howl then and it didnt happen ...instead she burree'd off exit left - not sure why. As for the rest - I could have been watching the video!!
