I was a Marine stationed at 29 Palms when this song came out. The radio station played it endlessly and we enjoyed every minute of it. So many years have passed and now when I hear the chorus "29 Palms, I feel the heat of your desert heart" it brings back so many memories. Memories of my buddies I served with, the bars and drinking every night, chasing women in Palm Springs, trips to Lake Havasu and renting house boats on Lake Mead. The training in that desert heat with my buddies. It sucked, but we suffered together and that's what makes the memories so special. I miss all of it....and the heat

Back in 1993 I bought this on cassette for my friends 21st birthday...being young and dumb I didn't have any wrapping paper, wrapped it in newspaper...out of happenstance the section of the newspaper I used was the obituary column..he thought it was hilarious and very much in the spirit of the era...3 weeks later he died of a drug overdose because some girl broke his heart....I often come back and listen to this song and wonder who he would be today, there's something very guttural about it...about loss and missing someone...totally understand why your old man would gravitate towards it, it hits you in the feels in a timeless kind of way.

A fool in love A crazy situation Her velvet glove Knocks me down and down and down and down Her kiss of fire A loaded invitation Inside her smile She takes me down and down and down and down Ah, ah, ah Her moves look good A touch of desperation From where I stood She turned my head around, round and round Ah, ah, ah It comes kind of hard When I hear your voice on the radio (when I hear your voice on the radio) Taking me back down the road that leads back to you Oh, oh, oh 29 palms I feel the heat of your desert heart (feel the heat of your desert heart) Taking me back down the road that leads back to you Oh, I'm burning in love Oh, strange infatuation Why a cold, cold touch? What must I do and do and do and do? The heat and the dust Increase my desolation In God we trust Always for you and you and you and you Ah, ah, ah It comes kind of hard When I hear your voice on the radio (when I hear your voice on the radio) Leading me back down the road that leads back to you Oh, oh, oh 29 Palms I feel the heat of your desert heart (feel the heat of your desert heart) Leading me back down the road that leads back to you Baby, now it comes kind of hard When I hear your voice on the radio (when I hear your voice on the radio) Leading me back down the road that leads back to you Oh, don't you hear me, baby, now? 29 Palms I feel the heat of your desert heart (feel the heat of your desert heart) Leading me back down the road that leads back to you, you, you, yeah, yeah I'm comin' home Uh-huh Gonna get there, gonna get there Don't ya know, baby? It comes kind of hard I said, when I hear your voice on the radio Leading me back down, down the road That leads back to, ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo 29 palms

Every rap tune is about stating how they’re the greatest, better than everyone else at rhyming words while portraying wealthy lifestyles.” “And a rappers best song is always a cover tune, zero originality. For example, what’s P Diddy’s best song? Exactly.

It is a great song that should be played regularly. I hear big log, ship of fools, in the mood and tall cool one BUT not this one. Even satellite radio..oh well..only here on Utube i guess😎

I've lived in 29 Palms all my life. Raised there, grew up there, worked there. And stumbling across music like this makes me feel like I'm home again.

Wow, just fucking WOW. Its now May 2020 and this song sounds even better today that it did 27 years ago. Very much the music that shaped generations, people and society.

One of Plant's best solo undertakings. Sometimes you just fall in love with what you hear on radio. This was one of those experiences back in the time.
