Really interesting. Most people just assume Clean funk guitar = compressor. I’ve never really used compressors either for this style. Glad I’m not alone!

Avoiding compression unless you are very clear about the reason for adding it, is a very good general rule.

I honestly prefer without comp, it sounds more natural and you can play with dynamics. IDK but I feel that compressors sound unnatural. However, great play Rob :D

It seems that your fingers are a compressor. A lovely touch will do so much. I learned on classical guitar so had 'feel' drummed home from a very young age. I like the comparison as it does show the benefits of touch

Apart from compression, all day long i could listen to your warm grooves, could you maybe do a sample library and offer it for sale, or so

Rob, I have a question and I would love your advice: I'm a long-time funk player, and I play in the exact style as you. Although, I'm a Tele player, I'm on the market for a Strat. I'm a working class bartender. I don't have deep pockets, and I don't play out. If you were me, in 2024, would you recommend I buy a Strat or a PRS?

I'd be interested to see one of your preset constructs in the Quad Cortex at some point - pretty sure I heard you mention you use the QC in this video...?

I’ll do a little video on this shortly.
